Was walking around looking for a place in which I could stop for an early dinner. I specifically wanted paella, but every restaurant along the walk had paella for 2 and I was solo for the evening; I couldn't possibly finish enough food for 2 people! Las Rias had a sign out advertising their tapas and there was a tapas portion of paella! Yippee, I can order my paella after all! Each order of tapas was 2.90 Euros, so I ordered my paella and some anchovies in vinegar. I would've loved having some green veggies, too, but there none on the tapas menu.
The paella and anchovies came to the table with the paella steaming. I started out with the anchovies and was very happy with them; perfect tartness to accent the anchovies and the olive oil gave a nice lusciousness to them. Devoured them; no fishiness at all! The paella was good; had a prawn, a mussel, and a small chunk of chicken with the nicely flavored rice. The squeeze of lemon from the wedge they brought completed the flavors. The only thing that bothered me was that the black vein of the prawn was still intact; I prefer to not see the black vein on my dish! Also, being that the paella was brought on a tapas size plate, I had a hard time scooping it up without it spilling over the sides, thus losing part of my paella! If I was home, I might have eaten it off the table, but in a restaurant, no thanks!
My dinner, along with a bottle of carbonated water, cost me a whopping 8.30 Euros! Who can complain about that?!! Being in Spain, round that up and you're good to go! read more
