A friend recommended this resto as we were searching for an authentic tapas bar in the Marbella area. This restaurant comes up again and again on most sites as one of the best local tapas.
We arrived around 2PM on a Saturday and the place was mostly empty. We didn't quite understand how the ordering worked and spent a lot of time reviewing the menu deciding what to order. So when the waiter told us we couldn't order off the menu, we were a bit confused. Why did they give us a menu to begin with? As our meal progressed, we saw waiters bringing plates to tables outside. Perhaps locals are allowed to order but tourists get the following service:
After about 20 minutes of waiting , the waiters came out slowly with plates of different tapas - everything is served on a piece of baguette - like tuna salads, mini burgers, entrecote, pork tenderloin, etc. Each tapas has a toothpick on it that corresponds to a price. At the end of the meal, they count up the picks and charge you accordingly.
Overall the tapas was good but not great. I don't eat meat and had very little choice; my family who does eat meat certainly enjoyed this meal more than I did.
Despite the fact that there were not many clients, the staff was quite slow. I ordered a glass of sangria and after a 20-minute wait, had to remind the waiter to bring it. They all seemed busy on their cell phones -- we actually wondered if they weren't somehow calling in orders to the kitchen for the local customers they were so busy on them! read more
