The food is runny and most of the time not served hot. The wait staff makes you feel like you are burdening them. Worst is if you go back towards the bathrooms and look in the kitchen you will see how filthy it is with food on the floor and a mess everywhere. Having worked in restaurants I would be ashamed of this place. read more

The place was super busy. We were seated right away. We were given chips and salsa, which were good. And we waited and waited and waited. Then we ordered finally, and the guy yelled at me saying yeah I saw you but I'm busy. We did end up ordering. the food was good. The place is a little dirty and the floor is very slippery by the restroom. read more

Pretty unassuming from the outside and very colorful decor on the inside. We went for lunch while in town from Grand Forks. The lunch menu has some combo specials; my wife ordered one of these and enjoyed it. She especially liked the guacamole salad which is a little different than what we typically see. I ordered the huevos con chorizo which was very good. Prices were very good for the portion size we received. We will definitely go there again while in Thief River Falls. read more

Just realized I have never left a review here which is crazy since I eat here every time I'm back in TRF. The food: is amazing. Thief River is blessed to have yummy Mexican food. The service: So friendly and Quick. Ambience: Very family friendly! read more

Las Ranitas - Seafood & Rice (Arroz Con Mariscos) - Mexican Near Me - Thief River Falls, Minnesota

Excellent food, service and prices! Would recommend to any authentic Mexican food lovers and guru's!

Fun decor, great margaritas and the food is lovely. Great place for a family night out.

I love trying to new places and Las Ranitas is no exception. Upon entering, the decor was as one would expect but EVEN MORE color than expected. The chairs here are fun and delightful. The floors and both seats were a teesh littered, but I expected that according to the time I ate dinner. I was at the tail end of the dinner rush. My host and server greeted and seated me quickly. Just like greeting and seating, I had chips and salsa in a snap. Returning with my soda, I ordered my fajitas. Maybe 6 pages into my book, my food arrived. Who doesn't love a sizzling plate of fajitas? I really enjoyed mine; they hit the spot. They could be cooked a little less done. The sizzling plate has the tendency to finish cooking and then over cook fajitas. Most of my pieces were moist and well done, just a few were chewy and over done. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience. Definitely the best joint in Thief River Falls if you want quick, but not fast food. read more

Las Ranitas - Steak fajitas - Mexican Near Me - Thief River Falls, Minnesota

Consistently good food and service. Everytime I'm back in town, I will get parillada fajitas and my wife gets the chimichangas.

For great authentic Mexican food this is the place in NW Minnesota! Food is consistently above the expected and service that it's My favorite is carnitas! Melt in your mouth good read more

Cute interior- little dirty but the food was good. They seem to have really good specials. We were fans. Had the three enchiladas and chicken burrito. Salsa tasted very fresh. read more

Hadn't been here in awhile. It has definitely gone down hill. Food was terrible. Ordered taco salad, got something that looked like taco slop...Ordered 4 different meals nothing was good. Restaurant is also very dirty. So sad because we used to love the place. We will not be back read more

What a cute restaurant with lovely people running it. If I had to recommend one item to order, it would be the carnitas. They roast the pork to perfection, tender in the middle with yummy crispy bits on the outside. Portion sizes are definitely geared toward sharing. I don't recommend their chili rellenos, though. Their fajitas and burritos were delicious, but we missed the Mexican heat we've come to expect--granted, we are Minnesotans transplanted to California. It took us a while to get accustomed to traditional Mexican heat, so it all seems really mild to us now. The flavors and prices are great, though. You should definitely give this place a try. read more

Great salsa. Great queso. Great food. Great service. Draft beer in a frozen mug. Yum!!

Food amazing when I went they were short staffed though so but I have always loved there food and will recommend to any new comer to Town

My fifth time here, for sure the best food in my old hometown of TRF. Or northern Minnesota, for that matter. Good selection and great beer and wicked good authentic food served by an eager and smiling staff. Even when they're swamped it's awesome! Another trip through here, as good as ever with a great lunch menu!! read more

Best Mexican meal in town. Deluxe Burrito platter could have fed both my wife and I. Great service.

Best Mexican food not just in Thief River Falls, MN. but in the region. As good if not better than Mexican food I used to get in So. California. My favorite is The Chiles Aogados with a Modelo Especial. Great food and service is why this restaurant is one of my favorites. read more

Stopped by before heading to my hotel for the night. I saw all the other reviews so I went with the cheesesteak burrito and a tamale. The steak in the burrito, the sauces, and the tamale were all so fresh. I'm pleasantly surprised to find decent food and unique food this far out. Keep it up! read more

This is not authentic Mexican, don't let the description fool you. Not only are they lying about what they are, but they have horrendous service. Went to order take out during the coronavirus shutdowns, and the staff refused to acknowledge I was there. Only after I yelled for them did they come, and even then they decided to take someone else's order before mine even after the other customer mentioned I had been waiting before her. read more

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The food is wonderful. Staff is supper friendly. The value for the amount of food you get is good.

Very nice place for the area. There is not much variety in the trf area and I was happy to see this place open. Very good food. I often visit to eat a nice meal with family. They are often busy but we always get seated right away. read more

Best Mexican food ever! Can't beat their fajitas! Chimichangas are top notch. Breakfast is unreal! The price is more than reasonable. I wish more people knew how great their breakfast was, so that way it would be available every day. It's only on the weekends now. read more

Honestly a great place for authentic Mexican food, considering.. It's a godsend in Thief River falls, where there really aren't a whole lot of options for food, much less of the delicious authentic variety. Give this place a shot, it's awesome and deserves more recognition. Latino approved! P.s. Try the flaming fajitas!! read more

Great ambiance and authentic decor. Our waiter was a little on the odd side but I think English is not his first language so it was difficult to understand him sometimes. The salsa is great but I wish the chips were thinner. I got a side of guacamole and it was very fresh. The margaritas on the other hand are spot on! read more

Pretty good food. Vegetarian options are tasty as well! It has a nice atmosphere as well.

After growing up in Texas and now living in SoCal I was skeptical, but this place is legit. It's hard to find a decent molcajete dish even in Cali, but the loco molcajete slays...just do it! read more

Authentic and delicious! Las Ranitas is my favorite place in town. The food always comes out quickly and seems to get better every time I go. Whether you are going for a sit down family dinner or enjoying some well-portioned ice cold draft beers, Las Ranitas is the place to go. If you have a big appetite 'El Trio' is never a bad choice. read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant, and the only, in TRF. Very authentic food and very friendly staff. Wonderful experience over all!

Was pleasantly surprised to find this little place just outside of Thief River. Thank you Yelp for pointing it out. Enjoyed the atmosphere. Families were all enjoying the place in the Sunday afternoon. Food was tasty. Played it safe with enchiladas. Will expand my choices next visit. Service was quick and polite. No complaints. And again will come back now that we have tried it out., read more

Great service, very quick, food was excellent. I lived in Texas for a number of years and am a bit apprehensive to eat Mexican in Minnesota, because it lacks flavor. Not at all the case here food had great authentic flavor and spice. read more

Decent food, bad service. Overcharged for drinks. Got little margarita instead of big margarita. Our server argued with us that the portion size was correct. Then he sent another server to take care of us. New server admitted the "jumbo" margarita special was only 22 oz instead of the advertised 27oz, yet no comp on price. WTH? Now I know why the restaurant was empty at dinner time. Dios Mio! read more
