We were told from our hotel that the owners are from a family of original fisherman on the island and Las Panchas was highly recommended. Casual place with mostly indoor seating that is completely opened up in the front to enjoy the outdoors. We had dinner of guacamole and pescado frito. Fish was very fresh and not fishy at all. Fried perfectly, crisp exterior while meat remained tender. Everything was seasoned well. Portion was large. A small fish order could easily feed 2. There was a downpour during dinner but we stayed dry and comfortable. Prices are on the higher end especially for MX, but for quality it was worth it. We tried coming back but they were either closed or closing due to the rain. read more

The Hotel manager said that if we didn't mind a local / non fancy experience this was hands down the best seafood restaurant in town. She was totally right! The place opens to the street and has a super welcoming vibe. The food was delicious and to be honest not expensive for what it was. Las Panchas was probably the best restaurant we tried at the island. The service was great here and that was not the norm, sadly. The food was really good, everything we tried from appetizers to drinks was delicious but the seafood soup was to die for. I could say is the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The fish tacos were incredible fresh and the fish "al ajillo" was unexpectedly different in the best way possible because for some reason it seems that at some point there was a mistake on the word used and what it refers to is to "guajillo" which is a type of chili and not to "ajillo" that's garlic. Very good, simple, authentic seafood. We had lobster Al mojo de Ajo, and fish tacos. Lobster was the hit. Fish tacos were a bit more like fish fingers than like fried fish. I'm used to Baja California style, which this was not, but still good. read more

Okay just left here from lunch and we went there since it was next to our hotel and saw the 5 stars review on Yelp. We ordered guacamole, shrimp tacos, chicken tacos, and Skirt steak and beers. Everything was beyond salty. Both shrimp and chicken tacos were deep fried. The skirt steak has a funny texture to it unlike the skirt steak we had the night before at another restaurant which was delicious! Would not recommend the food but the beer was good :-) read more

I went to eat here with my girlfriend earlier this week. She said something was off with her soup and stopped eating after a spoonful or two. I should have believed her, but I didn't and instead I ate the shellfish in her soup (not the broth) once I finished my fish with tomato sauce. I have been bedridden since then with the most crippling food poisoning of my life. It's been five days and I still can't eat anything but crackers. Our vacation was ruined and I am in serious pain. I'm calling the restaurant to let them know but just in case, I hope this review helps someone. BTW - in case it makes a difference - I am mexican, who lives in Mexico, so I am constantly exposed to the water etc -- I've never felt anything like this. Did not enjoy my dish and they did not allow ANY variation to menu items. Due to a food allergy (not my choice) that would have been appreciated. Also, asked for a side of cheese and that was denied too. This is the only place on the island where we did not feel welcome and did not have good service. Server consistently Rolled his eyes and was visibly annoyed to be helping us. I finally gave up and didn't order anything and shared with my husband. Pros- the musician playing was very talented and the margarita was good. Definitely will not return, so many other good and friendly restaurants. read more

Customers are a mix of locals and some vacationers, food is fresh, delicious, and authentic. Excellent tasty seafood meals at lunch time at reasonable prices. Breakfast with mostly pre-prepared 'antojitos' style food over fried tortilla which I found only decent. We ended going twice at lunch time. The place looks setup for locals not tourists which for us was a good thing. read more
