Slightly less fancy and what appears to be a chain with at least three locations in BA, this place has more than just steak. It was weird to see some wok fired dishes on the menu and then also a bunch of seafood. It made me think the place was going to be good at nothing but actually the food was pretty tasty.
Service however on a Friday evening at 9:30 pm went downhill very fast. They did not have enough servers for the entire restaurant and patio area. Once we got our food we never saw our server until we had to flag her down to get our check an hour plus later.
They do have a 38 Argentinian peso cover charge per person but the bread basket was fairly large and tasty, however the sauce they brought with it was revolting. It was mostly mayonnaise mixed with a few chopped vegetables and ketchup. Really gross - at least to me and did not look appetizing in the little dish.
We ordered one ojo de bife (ribeye) with sautéed vegetables and a pasta dish - Penne mix de mar which had Langostinos or small shrimp, muscles and calamari.
We ordered the steak "jugoso" which is the most rare that they do normally but it is a solid medium well done color and it is a very good flavor, mainly because it was also on a ceramic plate with a very large portion of sautéed zucchini onions and peppers which had juices flowing from them mixing with the charred meat. It made for a very good flavor on the plate.
The penne with seafood was totally not what I expected it would be as I am used to the Italian version that has a tomato sauce. This one had no sauce, and when I say no sauce I mean there was nothing in the bottom of the bowl - it was completely dry. It was seasoned with possibly a little bit of saffron, and lots of sautéed green onions. There were way, way, way - too many tiny muscles in the dish which overpowered the flavor. They are not my favorite and I should've asked them to hold those back. Ate 4 or 5 of them and then started pulling them out of the dish and counted at least 15 more that I had not eaten. The langoustines had good flavor and were slightly overcooked - there were maybe four in the bowl and they were plenty of large rings of calamari that were pretty rubbery. Was able to take some of the delicious beef juices off of my better half's plate and add 3 or 4 teaspoons worth to my pasta which made it delicious. They also offered freshly grated (shaved really) grana padano which I quickly dumped into the bowl and stirred to add more salt. Am seeing a trend here - they don't seem to salt their dishes much in Argentina at least not in this town or where we have eaten yet.
When we ordered our meal I asked for pepper and she brought a small peppermill with our dinner but alas it was completely empty and was able to give it back to her promptly - unfortunately she never returned with more.
We ordered a very interesting wine we had seen at one of the grocery stores. It was bourbon barrel aged Cabernet and was complex yet smooth and had great tannins and fruit. Would definitely order that again if we see it on other menus. read more
