They dealt with the state Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) on my behalf. My application was approved, and the HAF paid three months of back mortgage payments. I was very pleased with the quality and timeliness of the assistance. I was therefore quite dismayed to receive no assistance with the house painting. One e-mail message, in response to my inquiry three weeks after submitting the application, telling me that there was no word yet, was all I received. Multiple requests for communication went unanswered until TEN MONTHS later, when the Housing Assistance Program Director responded to say that (a) the man I had been working with was no longer employed there, and (b) that I had been informed that the application had been rejected because there was no lead-based paint present. Upon my pointing out that I had received no such rejection, and that neither I nor anyone else had told them that the paint was not lead-based, I was invited to reapply. I reapplied in July of 2024, hand-delivering the application package. I received one communication acknowledging the receipt of the packet and saying it had been assigned to a staffer for processing. As of October 2024, multiple attempts to contact Total Concept by e-mail or through their web site have gone unanswered, except for an automated e-mail message saying that the director of the Housing Assistance Program, with whom I had corresponded, was no longer employed there. There has been no other response of any kind to my application. It is possible that the inefficiency and misplacement or mishandling of two applications in 15 months is due to a high staff turnover, but I have no way of knowing. I would not recommend dealing with this office for any time-sensitive matters. If you apply, do not expect the courtesy of a reply. I will be looking into finding government help elsewhere, as I am unable to qualify for a home equity loan from a financial institution.

I, however, know Chris and Ryan as the proprietors of my very favorite gaming shop. While technology repair may be their purview, the shop is also a haven for those of us not satisfied with console gaming and streaming video services, those of us looking for more in a game than a positive k/d spread or longest average life. Magic the Gathering is a staple of most game stores, and Friday Night Magic is a nationwide phenomenon. The Tech Shop is no exception. They even have an official judge in Andy, who also runs a Dungeons and Dragons campaign on Saturday. Tuesdays are open game night, with new games being tested, old games being mastered and Magic the Gathering being played in a format called Commander. Now, Magic came out when I was in high school and, while I appreciated it, I never really enjoyed playing it. The night I learned to play Commander, with the help of a super knowledgeable regular named Paul (who is also an official MtG judge) was the first time I actually had fun playing Magic. Wednesdays are for Warhammer, both the fantasy version and the ultra sci-fi version, 40k. Andy is the expert-in-residence concerning all things about the miniatures game. While I retain an intellectual interest in learning the game, I would much rather learn it with my own army. To that end, I asked Andy to teach me how to paint miniatures, which he was all to happy to do. I then discovered I have a natural aptitude for it and, what's more, found it to be extremely satisfying. I marvel at the progression: in the process of learning about a new game, I found a new hobby entirely! I first started coming to the shop because I wanted to play D&D. Since then, I have learned to play a dozen games that, under any other circumstances, I wouldn't've even heard of, made friends with people I wouldn't've otherwise met and employed strategies that were previously beyond my ken in games I thought I'd mastered. It has become a home away from home. Big shoutout to Chris, Ryan and Andy: your store is great, your work is outstanding, and you yourselves have no equal! Keep up the good work and I'll see you all soon!

My iPhone battery kept dying after five minutes. I went online and it looked like I might have to go to Pueblo to get it fixed. Fortunately, Trinidad Tech had the battery and within an hour returned the phone to me. It's working great. Thank so much to them. Don't go anywhere else.
