The 2 employees there (I didn't get their name) made me feel very comfortable. We watched a 10 min safety/intro video since we haven't shot there before. Then we picked out which guns and ammo we wanted. If we didn't like how something felt you could go back and switch it out. The facility was very clean and organized. Easy to find location. Very clear direction and rules. We will definitely be going back.

And every time we have gone there to make a purchase, it's always been a good experience. Most of the time we have dealt with Andrew himself, and he's great at being clear on what they can or can't get in terms of special orders, and has been quick to get back to us on pricing for special orders, availability, etc. Just this last week, my father and I made a special order with them on a Monday and they had the item available to pick up a week and a day later. This time frame seemed perfectly reasonable to me. Also, I was very happy with the price for this particular item. I was expecting to pay a bit more, and that was before we got a discount for paying up front in cash. For my father and I, No Limits Outdoors has become our first stop when looking for a particular firearm. To date, there is only one firearm I had been looking for that they either didn't have or couldn't obtain - and it was a pretty esoteric item to begin with so I was not surprised. The staff has always been helpful and courteous. Like most any business, there are times where they may be busy with several customers but when they're working with you - you really feel like they're working with you. There's a now shuttered restaurant where my Sister had her rehearsal dinner and I sometimes passed Ames Surplus, which as it turns out has been folded into the 2-building complex that is called Jax Outdoor gear. The military surplus part of this store is not much more than a couple short aisles. Past that, Jax has loads of outdoor gear, fishing and hunting inventory, clothing, footwear, and even a corner for Boy and Girl scout supplies. It's all very high quality merchandise and a good value. I came in looking for some Carhartt pants, which they don't currently stock. I left very impressed and with a cool and nicely priced little Gerber knife. I found store staff to be friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I'll be back in Ames in a few months (or so), and I'm be sure to stop in again. I'm sure there will be new stuff to admire or goods that I missed during the last visit. And there's no need to drive all the way to Des Moines.
