Bought a Ruger Mark IV upper from Volquartsen and had them shorten and thread it. When the upper arrived, it did not fit without forcing it, and it did not work. It appeared to me to be a factory second. I sent it back and Volquartsen promptly refunded my money, minus $35 for shipping. So, I'm out $35 for shipping to me, I'm out another $35 for shipping it back to them, and I'm out another $20 for the background check, a total of $90 not counting the driving back and forth to the FFL dealer and mailing business, and I have NOTHING to show for it. I own several Volquartsen pistols, ranging from an older V2000, as well as a Scorpion and a Black Mamba. I run these guns pretty hard, because I shoot 7 days/week, except for the rare occasion when I cannot make it to the range. Over the 6 years that I've owned a Volquartsen, there have been maybe 3 occasions where I needed to send them a pistol for repair. Considering how many rounds these pistols have sent down range, I have no problem with having to do this once in a while. I dealt with Scott and his father on a custom gun a few years back. They quoted me 3 months lead time on the gun. After 6 months scott gave me a STORY every month that my gun would be sent in a month or 2 more weeks. This went on for 16 months. At a year scott called to say, oh by the way the complete gun we are building for you will have no warranty what so ever. After multiple calls to scott and his father i wrote a letter to the BBB. At 18 months scotts father canceled my order with my dealer and said i did it and refused to tell the truth that he had canceled my order. Scott refused to tell his father that he had been lying to me for over a year about my order. Upon talking to scotts father the owner of VOLQUARTSEN CUSTOMS, His father stated they do not do custom work what so ever and finally that he had canceled my order.. Volquartsen makes excellent items. They are all high quality and very accurate. However, I am giving them a low rating because there customer service is horrible. I ordered an upper for my Mark III. I had to call them 6 times to get my order moving and every time I was fed a flimsy story about the delay with not even a hint of an apology or any remorse. More than once I corrected the order because they kept adding expensive add-ons I did not request. After six weeks of being told it would be in the mail the next day I finally recieved my item. I am very pleased with LLV upper but I expect more courteous and prompt customer service when I spend over $600 from a business. In summation, great products with embarrassingly bad customer service. Try to avoid customizing your order if possible and order straight from the catalogue. read more

I sent my older Ruger 10/22 for a new bolt - was not working as expected. Scott Volquartsen emailed me about the issue personally and kept up with my questions and answers on a daily basis. The company tested my rifle and scope to make sure all was accurate and kept me in the loop all the way. When I asked about other items that would be needed, he responded that what I already had was good and didn't want to sell anything that was not necessary for the rifle to work well. I would have been willing to spend more for a barrel and receiver, but was told it was not needed. I will never go to another dealer to work on my Ruger. I will even buy Volquartsen rifles when my grandchildren are older. This is a wonderful company and after dealing with many firearms folks over my life, this is the best personal service I have ever experienced. No question that Volquartsen makes great products. I own their 22 wmr lightweight deluxe rifle with carbon fiber barrel, a 4.5 inch and a 6 inch Scorpion with all the bells and whistles. I've had outstanding customer service. On two occasions I had to send in my 4.5 inch Scorpion for minor problems. On both occasions Volquartsen sent me two-day air shipping labels and returned the repaired gun with the same speedy shipping, free. On both occasions Volquartsen repaired or replaced the part in question for free. So, my experience has been great. (My scorpion shoots 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards) Try that with their competitors. They make great quality products. Their customer service and business sense is terrible. I ordered a competition pistol kit and it came to me a week later missing vital parts. I informed them of their error and they told me that they would send me the part first thing Monday (no sincere apology was given). They did as they said but proceeded to send that part via the slowest possible delivery option. It took up to another week to get a 2 ounce part that should have arrived in the first place. I am very disappointed on how they conduct business and in my opinion should have sent the part overnight to keep their customer happy. I will not be ordering from them ever again due to lack of customer appreciation. This is one experience so take it as you would like but I would never run my business like they do read more
