Mike Klauck does a great job with custom home construction. They helped turn our rough vision into…read morea beautiful home. We're very happy with the finished product. Every aspect of the home is customized for our wants and needs and we're thrilled with the way it turned out. If you can dream it, they can build it. The drawback to that is there are so many options and choices - the sky (and your budget) is really the limit - so at times the process can be a bit daunting. Just come prepared and ask lots of questions. We really appreciate the quality of the finished product as well. Before selecting MK, we considered a few of the big box builders. We were quite surprised that one of them (Ivory Homes) did not include central A/C in their base price. MK included central A/C, cemented crawl space, thicker exterior walls, higher grade windows, etc. in its initial pricing. Mike Klauck Construction has also been very good about following up with the minor issues we noticed after closing. Their warranty/servicing department has been responsive, conscientious and has not had to come back a second time for any issues they have resolved. Positives * Great value for the price * Honesty and integrity - we felt they were very fair with us and always worked with our best interests in mind * Made good on every promise - there were no outstanding warranty items, contractor liens, etc. * Included cemented crawl space and thicker exterior walls in their base price when most other builders were charging extra * Great ability to adapt our initial plans into something feasible * Super friendly staff * Warranty service Opportunities for Improvement * Communication - they have a sophisticated phone app to track progress all along the way - they just need to use it more. * A bit more "hand holding" for first-time custom home buyers would make the process easier Overall, we would definitely recommend MK to anyone looking for a custom home buyer.

As a landlord with rental properties I have worked with many, many contractors and repairmen over the years - Dego Painting is in the very top tier. Belligerent, messy painters. Spills and damaged roof sheet metal everywhere. They litter in the…read moreyard if a garbage pail is closer. This is the worst service crew I have ever hired. They left all of the masking paper in my yard to blow away in the monsoon winds we are having every night. They were breaking up old dried-out paint and reconstituting it to a whitewash for some kind of undercoat or primer. I have no used dried-out anything on my contract. The painter tried to be intimidating, he told me he was done. So did the masking guy. They still owed me one coat of elastomeric paint and left. They had chances to fix or prevent this and did not have sense enough to do it. There are Reviews on BBB complaining about the very same treatment. It turns out the painters were painting 12-18 degrees above recommended temperatures, they were applying the elastomer incorrectly, and they failed to perform a rollout before the elastomer dried. Wayne Logan has problems, he won't take accountability like a good businessman and has no idea this is not right. He owes me far more than he offered to clean up this huge mess. He had at least 7 warnings and his painters that many more. Best stay clear for a while, is my opinion. His painters are thinking about the next job instead of the one they are doing. They do both speak English by the way.

We purchased a short sell home on a hill overlooking the valley. The previous owner had done some…read moreretaining walls by himself...unengineered. Needless to say...the entire backyard was tumbling down the hill. We had SMC construction take a look at the project. They came up with the idea to use all the old block (hundreds of blocks), and build a brand new retaining wall that was over 20 feet tall. By using some ingenuity, they beat the price of every other bid. Not only that, but the design was fully engineered with foundations, proper drainage, and earth diagnostic testing done every step of the way. SMC is really anal about engineering. In the end, with their unique design, they came in 30% less expensive than everyone else and also added 20 feet of usable yard space! Now for the crazy part. They did such a good job that my wife and I had SMC look at the rest of the yard and see if they could hardscape it to our specifications. We ended up with a Paradise in the backyard! A 60 foot vanishing edge pool with a 20 foot beach entry. A custom built jacuzzi with enough seats for 20 and a waterfall made with natural granite combined with a slick use of a special cement product to make it look natural and wonderful. Did I mention that they built it so we can sit in a 2 foot pool at the base of this waterfall so we could enjoy the waters tumbling on our shoulders? He also put in a splash pad that dances pool water above the beach entry of the pool for the kids to play in even with the pool cover closed. We would like to take credit for the designs, but he actually suggested smart and efficient ways for us to combine all these elements without costing us a fortune in wasted redundant costs. He absolutely said NO to the waterslide...it wasn't that he couldn't do it, but he was right in saying that it would look way too busy. At this point you are probably wondering if SMC is related to us somehow. I have to honestly say that by the time this project was done...we are certainly FAMILY! Just not by blood. ;) So...when making a decision...here are some things to think about when working with SMC. Pros - Price for quality is fantastic. It will be engineered, and it will be engineered right. They don't skimp on this part. They also work closely with the city with proper permits. Don't use SMC if you want to skimp on city fees and engineering. Good luck with that one. They are honest people that have a high degree of integrity. We had a few cement issues with our pool when it was built that he was concerned about. He told us that while everbody thought he was nuts, he wanted to rip it out and repour a portion. He said he doesn't want us having a problem TEN YEARS from now. Cons - They don't have pretty looking equipment. The Owner, Sam, will NOT be driving a 60K souped up monster truck with fancy logo on the side. He also will not be wearing a suit. Sam is sometimes slow to get back on text messages. He will get back, just sometimes not as fast as we would like. Worth your time to check SMC out, and maybe he can bring you over to see what they did at our house!

Sam proceeded to verbally threaten my husband and then turn around and call the police and when they found out that I had everything on video and audio Sam backpedaled, and all of a sudden called the police back and told them not to come out. Yelp moderators I will gladly send you any and all video proof that you need. This company destroyed my yard when they hit multiple lines and never fixed anything. However, if you hire them and complain to Sam, he will get in your face threaten you and then stand back and say what what did I say I didn't do anything. Stay far far away from this company. They took on a job in our mobile home community and started around March 2019. Here we are May 2020 and the job is nowhere near completed. We've kept track and they have hit gas, electric, water and Internet lines over 30 times in this community. Imagine being without water in the heat of summer because these guys are too cheap to hire a utility locating service. They lied to us and say the water lines are too hard to find, but that's not true. If they hired a utility locating service and actually hired competent crewmembers this job would've been finished with no lines hit. I wonder how they are affording all these fines that they are amassing from utility service providers for all the lines they keep hitting. The crew constantly changes every several weeks. Most recently today the owner Sam was seen by several residents bodyslamming his dog into the bed of his pick up truck. If you want professionalism and a job done on time stay away. If you want the lowest bid and don't care about quality or professionalism then these are your guys.
