I have a 2000 Road King purchased new in October 1999 from Laidlaw's. My bike has been sitting in the garage for the last 5 or 6 years just covered up with work life getting in the way of riding. Now that I am retired I went to Laidlaw's to talk to the service department about getting my bike picked up and going thru everything. I walk in and Brent Laidlaw who sold me my bike back in 1999 was there and I talked to him and told him of my issues. Brent told me my bike was worthless and can not get parts but we have plenty of new bikes to sell you. Brent said to leave your name and number with the service manager and they would arrange to pick it up but doubt they could do anything with it do to parts. The service desk said the manager was out to lunch so I left my info and never heard back from them. I left there that day without a very good feeling. I am glad I never heard back from them. A friend of mine told me to Google mobile Harley mechanics and that is when I found Larry's Harley Services in Whittier. He is not mobile but that was ok because I could just have triple AAA pick up my bike. I called Larry told him my issues and just by talking to him a got a very good feeling about the guy. He also told me parts would not be an issue he would just have to locate them which would be the parts inside the tank. (who knew there was parts inside the tank I thought the gas just flowed out into the injectors Boy was I wrong) I sent my bike to Larry and met him in person and very easy guy to talk to. He said to give him about a week and I would be back on the road again. He found the parts for inside the tank at Glendale Harley no problem. He went thru my entire bike servicing everything and also my bike was a complete mess sitting for the last 5 or 6 years that Larry's son detailed my bike and it looks like new again. I have a 1999 Road King Classic EFI. I had not turned it on for 2 years and wanted to have it serviced and fully checked out. The Harley dealers and local "Harley Master Mechanics" all told me they don't work on these older bikes. I took my Harley bike to Larry to install a 2 in 1 exhaust. He told me he could do it for a price of $400 over the phone to replace it. I confirmed with moving forward, I get a call about 4 hours later that it's finished and he wants $650 for it. I asked him if he test road the bike to make sure everything was good. His response was "I don't like to do that" I was so confused on why the price changed significantly. When I got there I asked him why is he charging me $650 for it now and he said he had to tune the bike with his computer that costed more. (Why wouldn't he call me during the work and tell me it's gonna cost more instead of telling me after it's finished.) I asked him am I gonna have to tune it after and he said (NO) the bike is fine. That same day later on at night I started my bike and noticed my exhaust pipe getting cherry red, I knew this was not a good sign. I sent a picture and told him about it and his response was "sorry there's nothing I can do at this point" I thought this very unprofessional from the start of telling me it was gonna be $650 when I was told at the beginning before I took it in it's gonna cost $400. First of all I want to mention how hard it is to find a knowledgeable Harley mechanic after a few unsuccessful calls to mechanics on Yelp I finally found Larry. I have a XL 883 hugger Sportster boared out to a 1200 I had a couple problems my carb was leaking gas out the overflow hose constantly and I had rough idle I also mentioned to him that I wanted to reroute my crank case breather bolts because they leaked oil into my carb. So I spoke to Larry and he quickly had an answer to my problems. He suggested that I rebuild the carb and that he would reroute the hoses on the crankcase breather bolts down the frame of the bike. Set up an appointment fast and easy for the next day he had my bike done in one day it was running nice like a bat out of hell I'm super happy with Larry's work not to mention since my motorcycle was bored out it was a bit complicated for me to tune he suggested certain spark plugs and Gap which solved my problem will be back for more work on my bike with Larry would recommend for Harley bikes. read more

Larry took my street glide in on short notice and was able to locate and fix a electrical short that I had knocked my rear lights. It was in the fairing. He also changed my primary oil and made sure everything was running perfectly. His prices are very fair and he's very knowledgeable. For a while now I had been having some issue with my Harley, having to jump start it just to get it going. Local shop said it was a battery issue and didn't even bother to double check to see if that was the issue. When I had took it to Larry, he was able to tell that it wasn't a battery issue but an actual charging system issue. This is a real shady dude, don't take your bike here unless you want to leave with more problems and unexpected price changes He told me $250 for clutch cable and labor and then called me back to let me know he was only able to find a cable that cost $320 alone plus another $150 for labor I was baffled at the fact he didn't call me to ask if that was okay...he just bought it anyway I asked him for the receipt to the clutch cable and he said "he didn't have one cause he paid with his credit card" He was really upset cursing at me on the phone over a receipt that I'm entitled too After picking up my bike I paid the 320 for the cable but he said "not to pay him for the labor and that he never wanted to work on my bike again" I noticed when I turned it on the idling was way too high around 1800 rpm which is so obvious he tried some sketchy business My buddy ended up fixing the problem by releasing some pressure in the clutch adjustment read more

Before the clutch plates went bad. Looked around for a good shop and found Larry. This guy is good ! Larry came to my house to pick up my son's bike a 2002 Road King, as no AAA company wanted to pick up my bike at the time. They wanted me to wait 2 days and make a resevation to have it picked up. The bike had brake issues that my son tried to fix, but he only made it worst. It had no front brakes and the rear brakes were missing the seals and other items. Larry did an outstanding job in trouble shooting the problems with the brakes on my son's bike. He is good Harley mechanic and knows his Harley stuff. I am new to the Harley game so I was very hesitant to take my Sportsters to just anyone. I did a lot of research to find a good Harley Mechanic so I reached out to Larry and in the end after talking with Larry over the phone I knew he was the guy. My Sportster hadn't been started in 2 years and when I told Larry he knew exactly what to do, he walked me through his entire process and estimated cost. Once I heard all the work he was going to do to get my bike running at top performance I was sold. Took my bike over to him on a Friday around 2pm and he had it ready to go by 11am the next day (wow). I thought that was a little too fast but I was optimistic and once I saw all the work he did in such a sort amount of time I just knew he was the real deal (he even painted my exhaust that a some scratches). I started my bike and right away you can feel and hear the different it was like a new bike. In the end I did put a little dent in my pocket but it was completely worth it.
