This is a National Trust Nature reserve with stunning views over the valley of the River Thames into Oxfordshire. It is (according to the National Trust web site) one of the largest remaining pieces of chalk downland in the country). But we know it as the best place to fly kites for miles around. There is usually a wind and if you get bored with kite flying there is always the view.
Some people love the area for the the walks or the butterflies but I'm afraid I've never actually been there without a kite so I really can't comment. My advice is to take a kite - you'll love it.
