They have great customer service and their prices are better than most. We just moved to bakersfield and bought a house in the Rosedale area. We have lots of beautiful trees that needed lots of trimming. I got 6 or 7 bids for my tree trimming project. Lara's had the best price, actually a lot less that sell the others. And, most importantly, they did a great job. read more

Ray did a great job landscaping our yard. We had another bid from a fine company but Ray was less expensive and offered us more. He did the work within the promised time frame and provided us with great follow-up on the little things. He was easy to work with and answered all our questions. We'd use him again without hesitation. read more

Not a good experience. I was quoted and promised a very high service which was significantly more than I had been paying but I wasn't happy with my current gardener so I took the chance. Despite a great "quote" (promised services) the actual crew that showed up was so sub-par I quit in 6 weeks. I tried every single week to communicate what was wrong. The gentleman was literally at my house for 20 minutes. Everything was left overgrown that I had been told would be included in the price. End of the day after telling them I'm done they wanted full price. I refused after spending $250 in cleanup for someone else. They settled with me for a sum I still regret paying for the service I got. Totally ridiculous. read more

june, 2024. after bragging about homes and kids, he then tells me a price that is stupid as his employees demand 160 daily and he has a crew of four and required to have them come every week. well, at morning they dont show up and then he says he will come out. then he refuses texts and voicemails. it is 8pm and nothing. says he will close the business because of the employees which he can't control. please, close the business. he tries to sound smart but he is not. crude, rude and uppity does not get your customers wanting you near their homes and family....BYE ...... read more

Ray Lara and his men did our backyard landscaping. Ray is professional and easy to work with. He is also hands on and on site everyday doing the work himself. He's a busy man yet he takes his time to answer all questions and concerns. Reasonable and fair price. Quality work. After he finished our backyard, he gave us instructions on what to expect as years go by and assured us that if anything goes wrong or we have any concern, we should feel free to contact him and he will fix it. We love our backyard and so happy we got him for the job after getting a quote from more than 5 landscapers. We will always recommend him to our friends and families. :) read more

I contacted Ray Lara to come give me an updated estimate due to changing plans on our backyard. I had Ray come out prior to concrete being poured if it would make his job easier. I was called out to work at the last minute but had a relative and wife at the house to explain what our plans were. During the walk through Ray seemed arrogant and talked down to my family as to the ideas they had and the concrete plans. I called to speak with Ray and he had a "matter of fact" attitude. I told him that was bad business and we would not be getting our business. He basically said it was fine and didn't need our business. Be warned read more

I don't have enough good things to say about the work Ray and his team did. From day 1 he has always been kind, helpful, and extremely insightful! He has a strong background with plenty of experience to help you fulfill your dream landscape. I had a rough idea of what I wanted and Ray helped us take it to the next level without breaking the bank. Ray offers quality service at honest prices. In addition to designing our backyard, he built a beautiful gas firepit that has been the center of attention whenever we have people over. I highly recommend Ray and his team for your next project, however big or small. As someone who did some shopping around first, the thing that impressed me most about Ray was his genuine interest in realizing our dream backyard. Ray, if you're reading this, I can't thank you enough! read more

I was absolutely satisfied with their work. They did exactly what I asked for and they did a high quality job. Their price was economical and they were prompt, professional, and reliable. I wanted my garden areas weeded and mulched. We had a lot of really tough woody weeds and plants growing that needed to be removed. They were excellent and I will use them in the future for sure. The fact that they were very economical was an added bonus. read more

Ray and his team did a FANTASTIC creation in our blank backyard. We bought a new home with back dirt. Ray's vision for our yard was perfect! From the concrete, and retaining wall to the choice of trees, plants and patio cover. His guys are great, saw Ray's vision and went to work. We can't say enough great things about Ray Lara Landscaping. Well worth the price! We highly recommend Ray and his crew to anyone and everyone! read more

We called him Saturday, March 31, 2012 for a free estimate. Said he would come by around 4:00pm. We waited and he never showed up. He did not have the simple courtesy to call to let us know that he could not make it either. We are looking elsewhere for a landscaper. read more

Love love love Ray and his team! We had a new construction house with a blank slate and he built us an OASIS! They are so great to work with. Always easy to get a hold of and Ray is very hands on with his projects. After doing our yard he did three of my friends and it's amazing how different and beautiful they all turned out. We just used him again to touch up our yard after some recent construction and he still gives that great detail and attention. Also his price is very competitive (I shop around). Best job at a great price! I recommend him to anyone looking for a landscaper. read more

I contacted Lara's Landscaping for a quote he said he would meet me and he never showed, I then emailed him and called plus text and no respond back. If that is the type of service you get when you are just trying to get a quote imagine the type of communication you will have when the work starts. I would not recommend this service to anyone. read more

The only good thing about Lara landscaping was that he was cheaper than other companies for the work I wanted done. If you expect him to call you back or keep his word, don't hold your breath. There were multiples he was suppose to call me back and never did and when I did get a hold of him to setup a time to meet he would show up late or not arrival at all and of course he wouldn't call to let you know he was going to be late or not show up. I was satisfied with the job performed but damage was done to my house and he still has not done anything to fix after claiming he would have it taken care of. Needless to say I am currently fighting him over the bill until he fixes the damage to my house. I would never do business with Ray Lara again and wouldn't recommend anyone do business with him either. read more

First of all, please please please DO NOT hire Ray Laura to do your landscaping. I don't even know where to begin and I will try to keep this as short as possible. Anyways, my wife and I saved up money for a very long time to have a backyard landscaped for the kids to play in. At first when we talked to Ray he seemed like a really nice guy and he genuinely seemed like he cared about his work. We had a concrete patio put in and that actually was pretty good, but the kicker is that he turned around and hired somebody else to come and do it. Ray also put concrete curbing, a sprinkler system, and sod in for us. First of all the concrete curbing is already cracked all the way through in a few spots. Secondly, the sprinkler system was ok but it was not what we had talked about as far as layout. Thirdly and worst of all was the sod. For being a "professional" landscaper he should be embarrassed and ashamed for ripping us off. The sod he had bought was beyond horrible condition. Ray himself admitted that it looked pretty beat up when he bought it, but he bought it anyways and installed it in our yard. There were a lot of patchy spots where there was no grass and there was a section of grass that he completely forgot to put in all together. He said he would bring a piece of sod over to install in that spot time and time again but never showed. That's seem pretty typical of Ray, the whole time we were doing business with him. He ignores your phone calls after he gets your business and money and doesn't like to show up on time to appointments or at all most of the time. I tried to call Ray the other day and he didn't answer. Then my wife called from her phone, which is a number we had never called him from before and he answered. There is so much more I could go on about with Ray and his shitty work but I think you got the picture. Basically I have to tear up my back yard again and replace it. We also paid ray to install two 15 gal. fruit trees. He installed one that was questionably 15 gal and then there was the second tree that was maybe not even a one gal. tree. That's about a $80 difference in price. He tried to slip that one by us but I called him out on it. He never even said a word about it until I questioned him. His excuse was that he couldn't find a 15 gal. tree. I went out and found tons of 15 gal. trees all over town. So Ray was trying to rip us off. One last thing is that the yard had a few low spots in it. I asked ray why this was and why he had not leveled the ground before he put the sod in and he said "I couldn't level it because I didn't have any dirt to put there". Ya, that's the caliber of landscaper you are going to deal with if you hire this guy. read more
