Dr. Lane has countless positive reviews online, however I found her to be very unworthy of such praise. She is extremely condescending toward her patients. While she correctly diagnoised me with a rare gynecological issue, she did not provide me with any education on the condition or viable ways to treat the issue. Instead, I was forced to do all the research myself to find a treatment option, which meant going out of state. When I returned "cured" she then proceeded to mock what I had done to treat the issue and how much I paid for the treatment. This should've been my red flag to go somewhere else, but regrettably I stayed at the practice. Several months later I got pregnant and miscarried. Initially she was unsure about the viability of the pregnancy since the fetus was not visible on the 6 week ultrasound, so she did one round of blood work to check my HCG levels. They told me I could get my results after a day or two. No call. Nothing updated on the portal. I finally called them but they didn't have the results. After waiting an entire week for results (and being left to worry the entire week), Dr. Lane finally called me to tell me that my HCG levels were normal and that I had nothing to worry about. The next day I went in for a repeat ultrasound only to once again see no fetus on the screen. The ultrasound tech and office staff then escorted me and my husband to a back waiting room until Dr. Lane could tell us what we already knew. We did not appreciate the way we were treated, as though our grief and pain needed to be hidden from all the "happy" pregnant women in the waiting room. After being given the news that the the pregnancy was not viable, Dr. Lane was extremely unsympathetic and uncaring about the loss. At first, she told me that it was an ectopic pregnancy (she later claimed it was not). She then told me we would wait one week for my body to naturally expel the pregnancy, and, if it hadn't, we would do a D&C. I ended up having to do the D&C. She did not explain the procedure to me, including that I would need to take a medication the day before my surgery to help dilate my cervix. She also called me the night before my procedure, one hour before the pharmacy closed, to tell me that she had called in this medication and that I needed to go pick it up. What if I had been at work or was unable to pick up this medication? Utter incompetence. I went for a followup appointment three weeks post-surgery and received no standard blood work to verify that my HCG levels were dropping. She also did not examine me or do a followup ultrasound to make sure my body was resetting and yet cleared me to resume all normal activities, including intercourse. To add insult to injury, during my post-surgery followup, the first thing the receptionist asked me was about settling my outstanding bill, this after suffering a painful loss and already spending thousands of dollars on a surgery. After reviewing the bill, I asked them to mail me the bill instead since they had incorrectly billed insurance and were asking me to pay an additional $500 that I did not owe. Train your people better! First of all, get some sensitivity training and second, make sure you bill correctly before demanding any money. In the end, I had to see my primary care doctor to get blood work done, as my period did not return until almost 7 weeks post surgery. As of early December my HCG levels showed that I was still pregnant - yes, that means she didn't take everything out during the surgery. When my first period came, it was horrifically bad, with heavy bleeding, all kinds of junk coming out, huge blood clots (size of golf balls), etc. I called the office to see if this was normal because they had not warned me anything like this could happen. Per usual, they were extremely dismissive of my concerns, even after I told them that I had bled through my clothes while on my way to work. They didn't even offer to have me come in to get checked. I have come to the conclusion that Dr. Lane is not thorough and I question how good of a physician she can be with such a careless, nonchalant attitude. I would not recommend her or her office, especially if you encounter problems during your pregnancy. She only likes the easy patients. read more
