I practice CranioSacral Therapy (CST) and SomatoEmotional Release (SER).
CST is an effective, light touch form of hands-on bodywork that locates and resolves restrictions throughout the body with particular attention to conditions that affect the healthy functioning of the head and spine. CST works with the bones of the skull and the sacrum, the triangular shaped bone at the base of the spine, as handles to access the membrane system that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. CST improves the quality and function of the cerebrospinal fluid that bathes and nourishes these delicate elements of our central nervous system.
CST also works with the connective tissue throughout the body to release restrictions and restore and balance the central nervous system so the body can devote more of its resources to healing itself.
SomatoEmotional Release (SER) is a process used in CST to deeply integrate the residual effects of past trauma and negative emotional experiences that may have lodged in our tissue memory. SER is a mind/body practice that discovers and releases these effects that can manifest in chronic physical illness, decreased immune function, fatigue, anxiety or stress. The body naturally tries to accommodate and repair tensions left behind in the tissue after a traumatic experience, but if not released, they become trapped in the tissue and can result in pain and other symptoms that are otherwise inexplicable.
History
Established in 2009.
I've long admired the workings of the human body. In college, I studied Fine Arts and began to paint and draw people and their relationships to the world around them. At the same time, I began practicing Yoga regularly and fell in love with the discipline. Soon I joined a two-year Yoga teacher training program and taught Yoga for many years. I gained a deep understanding of how the subtleties of an attentive practice can shift not only the body but also the mind and spirit.
Later, when I experienced CranioSacral Therapy (CST) for the first time, it was love at first touch. I took my first class soon after and have not looked back. I studied and received my certification through The Upledger Institute, where I continue to study and serve as a teaching assistant. I love CST, anatomy and physiology and am deeply passionate about practicing CST. Sharing the healing benefits of CST with my clients, supporting them to be at ease within themselves, is one of the great joys of my life.
Meet the Business Owner: Lara H.
I am a Certified CranioSacral Therapist, and teaching assistant with The Upledger Institute and am currently enrolled in McKinnon Body Therapy Center's massage therapy program. I love applying the light touch of CST to help people experience emotional and physical freedom, to be at ease with themselves and their bodies after the general wear and tear of life, injuries, and pain.
