My very nice top spec MacBook Pro was sent in for a cracked screen replacement and came back with major problems. It runs incredibly slowly. Their diagnostic was that one of the processors had died and they were going to resolder a new processor to the logic board (if you know anything about micro soldering you will know this is a terrible idea).
Fortunately the Genius Bar at my Apple store diagnostic told me that the processors were both fine, the problem occurred from sensors being removed from the logic board which are now missing. I won't even tell you how much the botched the screen repair.
(Highlights include magnet lost so the machine doesn't sleep once closed, the mic and camera no longer work and the screen is wobbly. All probably because the new screen was fitted inside the old shell and badly glued back down.)
Yes they were much cheaper than the mac store. But now I'm looking at huge repair costs to get my machine back up and running.
They were very friendly, but I would never trust them with a machine again. read more
