I don't live too far from Enfield, so when my Apple MacBook needed a repair to the case under warranty I chose Toucan.
Apple used to send out boxes to package your Mac in and have UPS collect it from you, but to save money they stopped this. To get a repair carried out by Apple themselves now you have to book an appointment at a Genius Bar at an Apple Store and then wait for what can be quite a long time to get your Mac back. Or you can go to an AASP. Toucan are an Apple Authorised Service Centre which means they can undertake warranty repairs too. I called them and was told I could drop it in to them any time between 9 and 5 during the week. I filled in a short form (of which I got a copy) and left it with them. A week later (only 5 working days in total) I had a phone call to say that it was ready. I went back, signed a form (of which I got a copy!) and walked out with my fully repaired MacBook.
The staff were all very polite, and I can't find fault with the service I received.
They are an education specialist too, and can install/maintain Windows/PCs as well as Macs.
The only thing I could say against Toucan is the location. It's in an odd place called Enfield Island and can be a bit of a pain to find. Having said that, they are at the back of Tescos so there is free parking ;-)
Much faster than Apple themselves for repair in a lot of cases and convenient for me to get to. They charge £35 +VAT for a diagnostic if you have a product out of warranty so be aware of that if you are thinking of taking something here. read more
