I was referred to this practice for a possible food allergy and initially appreciated the…read morerelatively prompt appointment scheduling. However, one week before my visit, I received a call from someone named Alex, informing me that my insurance had been "run" and that I would owe 100% of the cost upfront--approximately $700--due to not meeting my deductible. Suspicious, I contacted my insurance provider directly, who confirmed I had met my deductible and would only owe a 20% coinsurance. When I relayed this to the office, they suddenly agreed I only needed to pay $80. This kind of misinformation, whether intentional or due to incompetence, is unacceptable in any medical setting. Ironically, I wasn't even charged anything at the time of the visit. I had followed their instructions to stop taking allergy medication for a week in preparation for allergy testing--only to be told by Dr. Chegini during the appointment that testing was "unnecessary." My primary reason for being referred to this office was ignored, and my concerns were completely dismissed. The office environment itself was unprofessional and uncomfortable: the staff were rude and unwelcoming, the space was overheated, and there was a strong, musty odor--conditions that are particularly inappropriate for an allergy clinic. To make matters worse, I waited over 30 minutes past my scheduled time with no explanation or apology. When I was finally seen, Dr. Chegini was difficult to understand due to speaking through a mask and made little effort to clarify or communicate effectively. After a brief and dismissive discussion, I was told, without testing, that I did not have an allergy and was bizarrely advised to use ChatGPT to research my symptoms. That is not medical care--that's negligence. Instead of receiving the care I was referred for, I got an unsolicited lecture on pregnancy, reflux (which is already under control), and nasal spray technique. I genuinely considered walking out mid-appointment. I cannot understand how this practice has such positive reviews, but my experience was appalling. I will be strongly advising my family and friends to avoid this office at all costs.

This review of for Sharon Rubin and Paul Mather, who are advanced heart failure physicians…read morecurrently at Penn. They have been working together for decades and have been through three Philadelphia area health systems. The first was Temple, whose transplant program was shut down - then Jefferson, and now Penn. Rubin is a terrible physician. Has the personality of a social worker, which is good, but not technically competent. She can struggle to explain some things to patients. Most importantly, she is not there when you need her. My father had been seeing her for a number of years; however, when he had a massive heart attack, he was left minimally conscious. We had questions about how his cardiac impairment would limit his chances of survival given the option to discontinue life support. The hospital where he ended up did not have his full medical records and history despite requests. Our family attempted a million calls to Dr. Rubin and her office. The nurse told us that she had given her the messages and was praying for my father, but nothing further. This took place over six weeks or so and we kept calling, so plenty of time to return the calls. Not a single call to Dr. Rubin was answered - not one. Also, while she was at Jefferson, Rubin was required to do rounds and patient visits for a time with a pharmacist and nurse in the room with her. I am unsure what that was all about. Mather runs the show and Rubin is along for the ride. Mather's lower on personality. He only saw my father a couple of times when Rubin was away. He ran the Heart Failure Institute. My observations of the Heart Failure Institute were that the people getting heart transplants seemed to be mostly white and people who were put on then-experimental therapies (i.e., long-term LVAD, which required them to live in the hospital pretty much for the duration of their lives) were black. This partly speaks to the lack of availability of transplant organs for people of color; however, I never saw anyone white walking around with a long-term LVAD. (The patients exercised by walking through the other cardiac wards in the hospital.) The father of someone I went to high school with was able to get a heart transplant through this group. He is white and his heart failure was due to alcohol dependence, interestingly enough. Trust me, you don't want to be in the situation my family was in with the lack of communication/avoidance in tough end-of-life situations, so avoid Dr. Sharon Rubin.

The whole experience was honestly insane and incredibly frustrating…read more First, the out-of-pocket cost was $295, which feels exorbitant compared with other urgent care locations in the area. More concerning was the lack of attention to why we were actually there. We explained my daughter's symptoms and the reason for the visit at check-in, yet once we were seen, they seemed to have no idea why she was there or what we had already told them. That was a huge red flag for me and made it feel like no one was actually paying attention. After paying nearly $300, we were offered very little in terms of help or a solution. We were essentially told to go to another urgent care because they didn't have the test she needed. What made that especially frustrating is that a basic urgent care right down the street did have the test. We only chose this location because it was the only place open that late. If a facility is going to charge this much for an urgent care visit, I would expect better communication, better attention to the patient's symptoms, and at the very least a clearer understanding of what services they can actually provide before taking someone's money. Unfortunately, I would not return.

There are lots of points to review, so excuse me as I expound: 1) The atmosphere is light and cheery with a definite homeopathic-feel. 2) The waiting room is not the cleanest, but pleasant enough with a section for kids to play. 3) You'll have plenty of time to enjoy it because the Dr's will spend as much time with their patients as they need, resulting in an easy, non-rushed feel with the Doc, but chronic long waits to get there. I usually get in to see the nurse about 30 minutes after my appointment time and then wait another 10 or 15 minutes until I see the Dr. 4) The nurses here are incredible and make up for the no-nonsense affect of the Docs. They greet you with a smile and encouragements. My son has had 4 immunizations so far and has not cried a single time (though he screamed for a whole day after a shot from our previous doc, so I give those nurses the credit).
