I'm absolutely shocked to see all the negative reviews. Everyone here was super friendly and knowledgeable but I am especially grateful for my pre-op nurse, Judy. Judy did everything she could to calm my nerves and made sure I was as comfortable as possible before my surgery. The staff at Abington Surgical center are so nice! The receptionist was grouchy, but maybe it's because she deals with so many that can't hear a lick. Nikki, my preop nurse was friendly. She seemed to really care and whispered encouraging words to me. She got the IV in one shot. I walked to OR#1 with the nurse anesthetist. I never asked but they gave me warm blankets. It was cold in there. As they positioned me, each staff member was doing their preparations like a well oiled machine. Next thing I know, I'm in recovery where my nurse (Melinda?) says, time to wake up and offers me a juice. I had no memory getting there. She helped me sit up and get my clothes. Both the surgeon (Newman) and recovery nurse both called my wife. Later walked out the door. No photos here. Just nice people. read more

Chaotic, disorganized, and really poor communication. I waited more than 4 hours longer to start surgery than my scheduled time, with no communication from nurses or center staff. Privacy concerns are noted by another reviewer and this remains true. I then received a surprise $450 bill with a handwritten note that surgery took longer than expected. My surgeon's office called to try to stop ASC from collecting but they refused. read more

I've been here now on four different occasions. My daughter had to have a procedure done twice, my wife had a procedure done once and I recently had a procedure done. There was one time that we came for my daughter's procedure and we had to wait longer than I would have liked, especially considering the fact that she was hungry because you're not allowed to eat anything after midnight the day before surgery. The nursing staff is very nice. Immediately before and after your procedure, they do everything possible to make you feel comfortable. The second time my daughter had a procedure done, she had her adenoids removed and tubes put in her ear drums to help with her ear infections. She was extremely irritable. The nursing staff allowed us to take as long as we needed. The day after your surgery, a nurse will call to check up on you to make sure there are no complications. She'll ask if you have any questions and provide recommendations if necessary. I like that touch. read more

My husband has had 2 surgeries here both times were good! The staff is very friendly and answer as many questions as you have. The anesthesiologist was cool and joked around to make light of things. I like the way the waiting area is laid out seems like you have your own little area to do your own thing while you wait,most people read take calls eat whatever... there are vending machines and free coffee!! When i went into the recovery room to meet him the nurses thoroughly explained the discharge instructions to both of us. They were there within seconds anytime we needed them!! read more

The staff here is amazing! Everyone was so sweet; however, the facilities are lacking. They appear to be packing in too many patients with limited space resulting in NO privacy. In pre-surgery patients are placed in rooms with walls that do not reach the ceiling. I heard names, dates of birth and specific procedures for four different people. Post op is worse as everyone is packed in one room with curtains pulled only when changing clothes. read more

I guess it's kinda weird to write a review about a surgical center, but I just had such a positive experience here that I had to write about it. I was going to get a cervical epidural (steroid injection in my neck) for the first time yesterday. Obviously, I was very nervous and didn't know what to expect. I was so pleasantly surprised at the nurses here- they were so friendly and talkative and joking around with each other that it really put me at ease. Once my doctor came in, Dr Nasr, I was ready with a bunch of questions, and he patiently answered all of them so that I understood. He was very nice and funny too. Once they took me back to the surgery area and got me in my room, they made sure I was comfortable, and kept me from getting too nervous by joking around with me. Dr Nasr came in to perform the procedure and he and the nurses were sharing polite banter (I think Dr Nasr must be new to the Abington Surgical Center from what I gathered). He talked me through everything I did, and there were no surprises because it had all been explained to me so thoroughly- that's really important to me because I'm a control freak and I worry a lot. In about 5-10 minutes my procedure was done and the nurses were sitting me up. They were all exclaiming over the feathers in my hair and I took my surgical cap off to show them. The put me in my wheelchair - which was this awesome recliner on wheels that I had never seen before- and covered me up with lots of blankets. They wheeled me into recovery where I was in the care of a new nurse who was equally as friendly. She offered me and ice pack and a drink of choice- I was dying for a coke at that point so it was awesome- and as soon as they had monitored me long enough they discharged me. They even called me the next day (today) just to check on me and make sure I was feeling ok. It was such a pleasant surprise to see a happy, friendly, and obviously experienced group of health professionals under one roof- they obviously have it together over there and I will be sure to go there for any future procedures I might need. read more

We had a great experience here for my daughter's ear tube surgery. The whole staff was great with kids and nervous parents. No toys or play area in the lobby, so parents of toddlers, come armed with distractors. read more

The staff here is so very nice! The facility is clean, and newly renovated. I was a little nervous judging by the outside (it's slightly scary looking) but the inside is a total shock. They are very professional and make you feel like you are in good,caring, qualified hands. I had no problems with my hernia surgery and was in at 830am and out by 1130am. I would highly recommend their facility for any type of minor surgery. read more

Absolutely disappointed, disrespected and rude when it comes to religious beliefs, they failed to make acceptable accommodations when called out on the lack of professional care that my wife received the last time. Even after offering to submit to a Covid test & wear ppe to be by wife's bed side. Was told that my call was gonna be returned by the director and it never was. I had mad a promise to my wife and god and these insensitive clowns disrespected our religious beliefs and made me break that promise that I made furthermore condemning me to hell in the afterlife and never seeing my loved ones again. Run far away and make sure that you use Feinstein for any of your pandemic surgeries because from what I've been told by some friends that have had to have them during this time the care is far better and at least they allow you one approved visitor. In order to help your love ones feel more comfortable during this time. They are using the CDC Covid policies to cover up and hide their horrible patient care habits. Stripping patients and their families of all of their rights & religious beliefs is absolutely unacceptable by any means in today's society. The dr or the staff never notified me of the completion of her surgery and never notified me of how she was doing. They are also full of lies, they said my wife was gonna be done in 2 hrs at the 2.5 hr mark I called and was told that my wife was still in surgery. You shouldn't have to babysit the so called "Medical Professionals" that you are supposed to be able to trust to care for your loved ones. Over all 4 hrs out the door and no exceptions to the The policy so they are throwing me into a situation where I cannot prepare for the triggers for my PTSD so that I can be there for my wife. read more

Very disappointed in BOTH Abington Surgical Center's and United Anesthesia Associates' administrative and communication procedures. Admin and nursing staff are unfriendly, surly, unempathetic. The receptionist is a particularly poor communicator and unwelcoming. The day before my procedure we were told that my wife could not wait in the waiting room for me to complete my procedure, but then upon arrival on the day of procedure, we were told my wife was required to remain in the waiting room (not permitted to leave) for what turned out to be over 5 hours!!! Surgical Center staff were unreasonable and uncooperative: they were reluctant to allow her flexibility to make phone calls outside and never offered any apology for their poor communication and customer service. The Surgical Center always seems behind schedule --- again without apology or explanation. My procedure was scheduled for 7:45AM to be completed by about 9:15AM (their estimate). We arrived on time but waited in prep room until 10:30AM and finally released after procedure about 12:30PM, no apology or explanation. United Anesthesia's billing has been so poor I finally had to appeal four of their invoices to IBX. I learned from IBX that two were not submitted correctly and two were never submitted to IBX at all! IBX mentioned United Anesthesia has serious issues with proper billing. I could not recommend Abington Surgical Center and United Anesthesia Associates and will not use any of the doctors who use this facility. read more

My son had tubes put in his ears and adnoids removed by Dr. Issacson. All of the Doctor's and nurses were wonderful there! His nurse Sharon was particularly sweet. You could see how wonderfully all of these people work together and help their patients! read more

Office staff very inconsiderate!!! My father had cataract surgery scheduled today and I was his driver. Someone called yesterday said he should arrive at 8 am and should be finished between 9 and 9:30 am and that my Mom and I could wait inside because it is over 90 degrees. We arrived at 7:30 called in at 7:45 and they said he could come in. We did not hear anything when Mom went in to use the rest room she was told she could not wait inside. Dad was still waiting this was around 9:45 I called at 10 and was told they are running late and this is unusual and I wouldn't want the surgeon to rush. I asked why no one had contacted us and they had no answer .Around 10:30 I went inside and was told they told Dad they were running 45 min. late. I complained and someone checked and said that the appointments were 3 hours late. Two of the other patients told me this was how their first surgery went also they were scheduled for 8 and didn't have surgery until 1pm. So staff lied to me on phone. They told me to go home and I told them we had an hour drive and could not go home. Long story after trip to Walmart and still waiting the car thermometer said 105. Mom and I went in to wait. Dad was discharged at 1:45pm. We were there over 6 hours!! I would not recommend this center to anyone. Discharge papers and Nurse said Dad has appointment tomorrow for a check. Drs. office called about 45 mins. after we got home and said he was to be there now. How unorganized can you be? Had to schedule another time tomorrow for the check up. read more

Beware of this facility. They are first and foremost a small business and driven by the bottom line. I have had surgery scheduled here more than once at this facility with the last scheduled procedure being the worst, ever, and the prior scheduled surgeries just not even coming close to the quality of cares I have received at other facilities. Their staff is incompetent, unprofessional, and they do not respect your privacy and dignity as a patient. Even if your insurance (like most) will require that they bill for a procedure once they have been rendered, they will demand you pay the estimated balance in full (even if their contracted rate is much lower) and not give you notice that you will not be allowed to have surgery unless you pay thousands of dollars. I likely could have paid the amount they were demanding had they told me and I had come prepared with my checkbook or HRA card, but they did not tell me and I was not able to have surgery on January 5, 2018, for my painful condition. Avoid this place at all cost and if unavoidable, make sure to call and get in writing the minimum amount you need to pay in order to have surgery. read more

I had my second cervical epidural at Abington Surgical Center today. The staff and the nurses are friendly, easy going and take time understanding me and my needs (hate needles so IV's are never fun for me:) Love, love, love Dr. Venk who did the procedure and can't say enough about the anesthesiologist, Diane Levin!!! There was no burning pain (as in the first time) and talked me through the medicines as she sedated me (I certainly am not one to stay away for an epidural when i have difficulty with the darn IV!) read more

Went here for needle localization and surgery. The surgeon, Dr. Moore, was fantastic as far as skill and bed-side manner. But the two ladies, one was the radiologist, that did the needle localization were highly unprofessional--bordering on masochistic. They talked non-stop and would not listen when I tried to tell them things about the extreme pain I was in and terrible positioning (I felt like I was about to fall off, which might have torn some things had I fallen from the extremely awkward position they put me in without getting my feedback if that position was working for me.) They just shut me down by saying 'you are doing fine' and then they kept blabbing non-stop. So highly unprofessional and fully lacking of compassion of what the patient is experiencing. Maybe they should get the needle localization procedure and then they may know to shut up and communicate with and listen to their patient. For that experience (which was 100 times worse than the surgery), I would tell people go elsewhere because of the cruelness of those two ladies. read more

I went to the center for a tonsillectomy and overall I was very happy. The staff was kind and friendly. I was pretty anxious and they picked up on that and were very gentle and helpful. During my post op, my nurse was quick to get me anything I needed to feel more comfortable. I liked that my anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist and Doctor all stopped by before my surgery to meet with me and see if I had any questions or concerns. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars was because of the surgery itself. As I was going into the room, everyone was very rushed. They told me to lay down and when I did, the table wasn't locked and the head piece of the table fell backwards, hurting my neck a bit. Then, a man came in who I assumed was a doctor. He didn't introduce himself to me or tell me what he was doing. He began to put monitors on my chest and placed a mask on my face and told me to breathe. I would have appreciated an introduction, an idea of his role at the facility and what he would be doing to me. So there is room for improvement but overall I would recommend to you. read more

Took my wife there to have a minor outpatient procedure. Her appointment was at 10:00 AM and she was told to fast the night before. We get there at 10:00 AM and they took her back at 10:20 AM and had her change into a hospital gown and gave her an IV. The room was cold, loud, had no windows and no TV. There she sat for 4 hours in a gown, while fasting with an IV in her arm before the doctor even came in to say hello. The nurses blamed the doctor for being slow, the doctor and on staff anesthesiologist blamed the surgical center for double booking the OR. There was no indication of who actually runs the place and nobody really seemed to care. It was like the DMV but with a hospital gown and hunger pains. My wife was nervous to begin with and it was made much worse by having to sit there in solitary confinement until after 2:00 in the afternoon while starving. It was a terrible experience and we will never go back there. read more
