This is a mixed review...with two separate experiences…read more (1) My husband began having weird sudden chest pains. He went to Abington ER and was told it was anxiety or acid reflux- a few weeks later, on xmas eve to be exact, the same chest pain came back. here, we found out it was from his gallbladder about to explode, and he had to be admitted on xmas eve for emergency surgery... you know..the same issue he had a few weeks back and the staff at Abington sent him home saying it was anxiety or acid refux. he is lucky his gallbladder didn't explode. (2) I went to the ER on Jan 5th, at 8am. The waiting room had 3 people in it. But it was A mess from the night before. Gross. Puke bags laying around, dirty tissues, trash all over. Long story short, i was sent him with a kidney stone and told i would pass it in a day or 2. WRONG! a few more weeks go by and i end up back in the ER. The valet guys just sit inisde... they dont come out to give you any direction. as i walked in to secruity, the girl is standing there joking around with some guy as i almost pass out in literal the worst pain ever... this time, i am shuffled ALL around. to the triage, to the internal waiting room, back to the waiting room- mind you, i was having HORRIBLE 10/10 back pain from my stone, and i had my large workbag with me. no one offered a wheel chair or to help me, as i leaned over doubled over in PAIN with this heavy bag. Eventually, ended up being put in a bed in the hallway...while puking up my guts from the pain and pissing blood back and forth to the bathroom while strung out on pain med they give me and wobbly, no one offered me a call button...anything. if i had to go to the bathroom i was on my own. kinda scary. my experience got much better once i was admitted and sent to a real room with real nurses who cared- they gave me a blanket..pillows...treated me like i mattered. they are the reason for any star on my review. ER needs to do better ....

Subject: Concerns Regarding Patient Care I am writing to…read moreexpress my serious concerns regarding the care my husband received during his recent hospital admission. Lack of follow-up on physician instructions: Prior to his admission, his GI specialist documented that another physician (a colleague) should evaluate him during his stay. Unfortunately, this request was not followed. Despite my repeated efforts to bring this to the staff's attention, my concerns were dismissed and no action was taken. Communication failures: While my husband was admitted, I called the unit multiple times--nine times in total. Only one call was answered. During that conversation, I explained that my husband has difficulty understanding medical discussions and requested that someone contact me after evaluating him. I was assured that either the nurse practitioner or the GI physician would call, but I never received any follow-up. The remaining calls went unanswered, often ringing until disconnecting. Delayed patient care: My husband informed me that after he soiled himself, he requested assistance and was told someone would return shortly. However, he waited over an hour before receiving help. This delay is unacceptable and raises concerns about patient dignity and basic care. Overall, this experience suggests significant breakdowns in communication, responsiveness, and patient care. I am concerned that the hospital may be operating beyond its capacity or that there are management issues affecting the quality of care being delivered. I respectfully request that these concerns be reviewed and addressed to ensure that other patients and families do not experience similar issues.

https://share.inquirer.com/Ri7TPI…read more For the last year, my family has been devastated over this incident and Jefferson's response to this violence. Instead of doing the right thing, they damaged the life of a patient. Jefferson Health - Abington antagonized and ultimately fired my husband for defending this patient. He exhausted every level of Jefferson management and executive offices to report the incident and protect the patient. Instead, Jefferson allowed the patient to be charged criminally with assault of the officer who assaulted her. Instead, Jefferson did not report this as a serious safety event. Instead Jefferson allowed the patient to believe she harmed someone. Instead, Jefferson retaliated against my husband and ultimately fired him. Jefferson's Values: PUT PEOPLE FIRST DO THE RIGHT THING PURSUE EXCELLENCE CLEARLY NOT. https://www.inquirer.com/health/a/mental-health-safety-abington-hospital-jefferson-pennsylvania-20250515.html

Dr. Salkind explains everything about what is going on to you and puts it in terms that you can understand. He suggested more steroid injections before we go the route of another surgery. I had a surgery in 2018- but was one of the lucky 18% who have failed back surgery. Failed Post Laminectomy Syndrome to be correct. He suggested I go back to Valley Pain Center to get some newer injections called Transaminal injections, which I hope would work and relieve this pain.

At no time was I told going to wound care is same as going to the emergency room hospital. That is totally unacceptable. No one advised me of the costs I expected to pay my co-pay. Billing department was no help. They told me they're sending itemized bill. Haven't received anything. Understand it's over 400 dollars. That is totally absurd when I wasn't informed of the cost. Wound care staff was nice but wasn't told total cost of follow up.

When our family member went with the form to the DMV, DMV refused to allow them to take their driver's test due to the missing number. When we called Urgent Care, they refused to give the Medical ID number over the phone, because they said the provider didn't 'feel comfortable' doing so. To refuse to provide a medical id number over the phone, after performing medical services and filling out a form is illegal. The person we spoke to on the phone also stated there was a 'miscommunication between the front desk and the provider.' This is not true; in fact the front desk person had highlighted in dayglo yellow every box that needed to be filled out by the medical provider, including their medical id #. The provider simply neglected to fill in the number. We were then told it would take several days or weeks to fix the error using email or we could drive over to the urgent care facility- a 40 minute round trip- since they were still unwilling to give us the medical provider's number. In addition, the provider did not print out a legible version of their name, but only signed it - illegible. Also, the Urgent Care address and phone number stamp they used on the form is incorrect, and the phone contact person we spoke to was unaware of this and disagreed with us, even though we'd just had to find the correct number by researching it on the internet. Again, find a different branch or go to somebody's Minute Clinic.

I would not trust my primary care to any practice than doesn't include Dr. Kevin Zakrzewski, and Dr. Joseph McAllister. Not only are they exceptional at their craft, they elevate it by their professional, and personal rapport with patients, genuine sincerity, earned trust, and consistency. Yes, sometimes the wait can exceed 10-15 minutes to speak with a receptionist. However, when you do reach them, they are kind, cordial, detail-oriented, and helpful. My most recent hold time was under four (4) minutes. So, it depends on the day and time you call, and there's more than one office you can contact. The offices for Abington Plaza Medical Associates are located in Levy Medical Plaza at 1235 Old York Rd, in Abington, directly across the street from the hospital. Parking is $4 flat rate at Scully Garage. Once you enter the building from the ground level, the offices for Abington Plaza Medical Associates are one for up and to your left, as you exit the elevator. Many of the tasks you need help with can be assisted through the MyChart app for Jefferson Health. There, you can do everything from checking test results, notes from visits, see past and upcoming appointments, medications, and your entire care team for every specialty. You can request refills for prescriptions, send non-urgent messages, request and schedule appointments, see upcoming tests, and procedures scheduled/required. The doctors and the nurses check messages regularly, and are responsive in a timely manner. The offices are clean, well-kept, and wait times upon arrival for a visit are never long. There's a wonderful support staff of nurses that are truly an extension of the doctors. Beth, who is Dr. McAllister's second lifeline, is always a delight. As soon as she calls your name to come back to the patient offices, she immediately goes through each and every medication, to ensure the records are accurate and up to date, as well as if refills are needed, asks relevant questions to determine how you are doing, physically and mentally, and proceeds to take your blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate. Beth and Dr. McAllister work hand in hand to deliver superior patient care, as does the phenomenal Dr. Zakrzewski. There's reason why booking a general appointment takes so long- the doctors are outstanding and in high demand. And when instances arise for an appointment with a CRNP, Kelly Lappa is thorough, providing superior patient care. The one doctor to avoid, Bostros Shenoda, MD. His past judgement calls utilized poor problem-solving, and misdiagnosing. He told me on more than one occasion that I may have an autoimmune disorder. However, upon checking myself into the hospital and requesting full labs for everything, the results from the gluten test that popped up on my phone on the MyChart app indicated my allergy/intolerance to gluten, which was the issue preventing my WBCs from focusing on attacking Covid, and bronchitis. Completely unacceptable. However, that's not the quality of care you can nor should expect from any other medical professional at Abington Medical Associates. I'd drive an hour each way to see the best team of doctors and nurses, in Abington, Warrington, etc, to know my health and well-being are safeguarded by Doctors, McAllister, and Zakrzewski, et al!
