We found this restaurant totally by accident. It was getting late (2:15) and we realized we hadn't eaten lunch, so rather than searching, we decided to go to the first place we see, we saw this place right off of the tram station Porte d'Italie. We perused the menu, and they had a Laotian section and also a Vietnamese section. Since this restaurant is Laotian, we decided to stick to the Laotian side. It was a rainy day so I decided soup sounded good. I ordered their Coconut rice noodle soup which you could have with pork, fish, or chicken. I opted for the pork. My spouse ordered the Fish soup without noodles and coconut milk.
When the soup arrived I was pleasantly surprised that it was #1 spicy for France (French do not like spicy foods), #2 had ingredients such has blood pudding in the soup, and #3 was extremely aromatic. Of course I like really spicy, and they had all sorts of spicy condiments you could add. It also came accompanied with lime, mint, and a julienne spicy fried turnips.
My spouse's soup was very good as well, and it had a nice bite to it. I would've preferred with some rice or noodles, but by itself, it was quite tasty.
The soup was similar to many soups served in southeast Asia also known as Laksa in Singapore and Malaysia. Vietnamese Pho is typically not spicy nor do they add coconut milk.
All-in-all loved the soups. Don't know about the other dishes and we will probably go back and try them. The restaurant is extremely inexpensive. Soups ranging from 7€ for standard size and for 1€ more a "grande".
NOTE: this is a Laotian restaurant, so if you want Pho, go to a Vietnamese restaurant. The title found in Yelp says, "Asian fusion" I think it's a misnomer, it's not a fusion restaurant?
Will definitely go back to try the other dishes. read more
