Coincidentally to Roosters Kitchen remodeling and the sweeping tour of public artist Jules Muck (Muck Rock) visiting central Indiana in 2019 and adding numerous public art works to our area, this mural was added to the interior wall of the expansion of Rooster's Kitchen restaurant. The mural portrays a large Rooster on the north wall of the dining room. Where the eye of the rooster should be is a large lantern. It makes the mural part of the interior with both color and coordination with the surroundings.
Rooster was a childhood nickname of the owner of the restaurant, so it seemed fitting that the artist incorporate an image of a rooster inside the restaurant. Funny to note that the restaurant does not serve any chicken items on its menu.
The mural features a larger than life rooster with bright red and autumnal colors for the feathers with blue highlights to make the image pop.
I really enjoy discovering artwork in unexpected places and this fitting addition was one of the reasons I selected this restaurant: because it supports the arts! Doesn't hurt that the food was enjoyable too.
If you are downtown and looking for those extra touches that make dining downtown more special than elsewhere, check out the mural in the dining room of Rooster's Kitchen to see this nice addition.
