This piece of art has a special place in my life. After retiring, I kept noticing this horse made from repurposed tires near the Burger King on East Morris Street. I couldn't find any information about it and reached out to the Arts Council of Indianapolis. Together, we were able to find that it was created by a local artist named Marti Lamar. Lamar uses a style that appears similar to that of nationally known artist Chakaia Booker who once had a large exhibition in downtown Indy.
After that initial contact with ACI, I became their unofficial photographer of public art in the metro area. So, in a way, this piece inspired my desire to explore Indy and the surrounding area which led to my many postings on Yelp about art, and parks, and of course, food and beverages. Isn't it interesting how a piece of art changed the direction of how I spend my free time? I'm having a lot more fun at 60 than when I had to work all the time. (As if I had to tell anyone that! ha!)
