The kids playground was cool for my littles to run around on after a long day in the car. The property is a ways off the road and stays pretty quiet. The AC was nice. Having Two rooms was also nice. Cons The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The sheets and blankets also cheap. Additionally we had a minor issue with our stay and because the office is generally unstaffed there was nobody we could contact to help fix a really simple problem. So we went the duration of our stay with an unresolved issue. The only reason I am really writing this review is that for the price we payed (about $650 for a single night) and the accommodations and lack of service do not meet my expectations for such a high dollar stay. My perceived value of this stay is somewhere around half the price we payed. Suggestions: Upgrade the bedding and mattresses. Have someone on call who can resolve minor issues with people's stay effectively either via phone or text. Our issue could have been cleared up in 30 seconds.

They have a number to call that no one ever answers or gets back to. We had a couple of issues that needed to be attended to and never were. Texted, left voicemail with NO response. When we booked this place about six months before our trip, they had someone answering the phone who started she ran the place. Not sure what happened. Unless they change this policy where they have no one to attend to issues, I would not stay here again nor recommend. All they had to do was pick up the phone or call us back.

Then my flights were cancelled and I called the day before to cancel and was told REPEATEDLY not to worry, there would be no charges because of the overbooking. I was charged ANYWAY, called back again about that was told sorry, we'll take care of it. 4 days later and now I'm told they "misspoke" and are charging me after saying they wouldn't. They abused the trust of someone who would have loved the place despite all the bad reviews, and that's the real shame. I would recommend avoiding this place, They are not truthful when it comes to cancellations.

The best part, it is easily the best deal on Cape Breton! Not far from Sydney and Louisburg, it is a great place to hunker down for a few days as you explore this fantastic area of the island. We loved the cottage, as we could cook our own food and prepare our picnics for exploring. The place was clean and neat. Better yet, the stillness and calmness of the area made these cottages one that we will keep coming back to!

I still think about the meal! I highly recommend doing dinner at the cottage. Our seafood picnic for lunch was awesome. Lobster, shrimp, crab, lox, salad and a baguette. Yummy and very filling for our day of hiking. It also came packed in a backpack cooler so you could take it to go. The afternoon snack was also very tasty and a nice perk when coming back. Lynn and Rod were wonderful hosts. They are friendly, helpful and great people. They also went above and beyond. I only wish that we had more time to enjoy the cottage and property. I highly recommend staying here. When we come back to Cape Breton Island, I know that we will be staying here.

Great location, friendly and accommodating staff, wonderful view. Hard to beat this place. We would definitely go again (and probably will).

We grabbed our sandwich and waters and headed outside to sit at one of the picnic tables as it was a gorgeous and sunny day. The sandwich was delicious. Fresh and flavorful and the bread was soft. The staff was nice, and the location was excellent. They have a parking lot off to the side with plenty of parking. We highly recommend a stop here along the Cabot Trail.
