The views were fantastic and our room was comfortable but certainly not a lodge experience as advertised. Our dinner in the restaurant was a disaster from the beginning. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation so expected a slight delay in service. That delay eventually became on hour before the last person in our party was served a drink. The only wines available from the wine list were much more expensive than those unavailable. The vast majority of the beer selection was also unavailable. This was communicated to us after a thirty minute wait after ordering. The wait for food after ordering was two hours or more. When it did arrive it was cold and obviously had been sitting for quite some time. The staff don't appear to work together, while waiting for our meals, some servers were setting their tables for breakfast. We were told there was no manager available to speak to us but eventually someone came and comped some of the items. Breakfast was great the next morning with lots of options. Bottom line is don't expect a lodge and eat dinner somewhere else

My only regret was the quality of the bedroom at the lodge itself. Before making your reservation make sure that you have a room with a view. You are surrounded by the majesty of Cape Breton so it is hard to look out your window only to see a wooden staircase.

My partner rented one for us for our anniversary, and I was expecting to rough it for the weekend. Oh nooooo.... not at all! Beautiful grounds, too if the line bbq equipment, everything but a stove! This place is luxury for its price point. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Even offered to give a chunk of butter because we forgot to grab some for the corn! Also, there is a great restaurant across the way, and the liquor store next door. There is no fire pit, and this isn't exactly rustic. This is very much for people who love the outdoors, but also clean bathrooms. The room was so clean! Soooooo clean! Soooooooooooooo clean! Call me paranoid, but this is a thing for me. All in all, this place is worth every dollar! A lovely way to stay-cation. Between hiking, drinking, and just enjoying the scenery a sketch pad and some charcoal - this place will provide lovely memories for a lifetime!

The couple that look after the cabins are friendly and down to earth. They made us feel very safe as this cabin is located very close to the highlands. Beautiful convenient location but don't sit out at night in the back as this area has bears and coyotes. No complaints!

The bed was comfortable, and the room and bathroom were very clean. However, there were a few drawback to the room. With these things in mind, it felt that our room was just a bit overpriced: 1) You can hear traffic on the road. 2) There is common room lighting that illuminates through the door all night. I actually went to find the switch to turn off the lights, which was not easy, and I'm sure was not appreciated by the host and the people who needed that light. However, what could we do? It was so bright in our room. 3) You *must* keep the bathroom door closed and the bathroom window open, as the smell of sewage will seep in. We found out the hard way about half way through the night when the smell woke us up. Breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip. Also appreciated are the loose teas available for guests. The host was not there, but the place was being minded by a woman who was an introvert that I would not put in charge of a B&B during high season. Though she was nice when you asked for help with something, she could come off gruff to some and volunteered no info about the area. I really wish I had known that across the street was a beach - we had no clue, and missed out on this opportunity that we surely would have taken, had we known.

Highlights were: - clean, cozy and very large room (we stayed in the largest one with the ocean view) - the best breakfast of our entire vacation, consisting of home-made granola with fresh berries, tasty plunger coffee from vancouver (hard to find nice coffee locally), and INCREDIBLE eggs Benedict with salmon that they smoked on site! - wonderfully adorable couple who run the place (though I have forgotten their names now) made us feel at home, and were just damn good to talk to.. felt like I was hanging out a friend's place - a short stroll to a sandy/rocky beach Cannot recommend this place highly enough - we were nearly tempted to cancel our accommodation back in Halifax so we could stay another night!
