The Shem Creek Memory Care program is very poor. They use Agency nurses constantly and they're not…read moretrained to care for demented patients. They say they use a Program that groups residents...never happens. Those that talk are sat with those that don't communicate. They use cloth seats on chairs that are soiled with Who knows what.... The caregivers put everyone in fronof TV ALL day if possible and sit and talk...who knows who checks on those in their rooms. The nurse, Natalie, is very good. But she's one person. They rarely will answer phone. Place smells like urine...rooms seem never clean and smell. Don't wash soiled dirty and wet clothes daily. They leave dirty depends in trash all the time rather than bag and remove. Don't make sure your LO was their hands...come on isn't that basic hygiene. The cushion I posted had urine all over it and the "caregiver" covered with fresh pad to "hide" it. I found when I got there. And the Director of facility , he seems to not really care if there's a problem. They have a huge trash can at entrance which is gross...he basically said too bad. SouthBay thrives on Independent Living...the Memory care is just to get you to the Independent Living part. Families have to help, provide activities...how ridiculous With what you pay. They don't provide what they preach. Don't place your LO here. Gave it a 2 because we have little options in Mount Pleasant...but I found a great one thank the Lord!

Wow what can I say. I was transferred to the Reserve from Summerville medical center so I could get…read morePhysical Rehabilitation since I had just had me leg amputated. Biggest mistake I could have made was to not say NO. They got me into the room and were supposed to do a workup on me, check for cuts and bruises and things. But it never happened. One day a nurse comes in and asks me what arm did the do a TB test on. This was confusing since they never did that test. Now remember this is supposed to be a Healthcare facility which should be as clean as possible. It wasn't.i was there for 15 useless days and my room was never swept or mopped. It was disgusting.my food when I got any was cold and the iced tea frozen. There was a flue outbreak there and I never got down to the rehab room for what I needed. There is so much more to say that's negative about this establishment but I just don't have the energy to write it. There were a couple great nurses and the PT and OT people were fantastic. This was the homes savings grace. But I will die before going back to the Reserve. So if you have a loved one who needs this type of place DO NOT PLACE them here

The nurses never came when my brother would push the button. They did not have bed rails on the beds. My brother could have died in there and they would not have none because they don't check on him. He had a bad cough and they would not X-ray his chest. I finally made them call 911 and he ended in the hospital with pneumonia and the flu. My brother has had 5 open heart surgeries and he could have died. I could go on and on but I'm getting madder and madder about the whole and I'm considering a law suit against them for their failure to treat the patients. My brothers roommate was in such bad shape that I had to call his mother because he was in so much pain and they did nothing. Please do NOT send any of your family or anyone you know. It is a horrible horrible place. Jesus loves you and God Bless You.

If recovering from a serious sports related injury is your priority, look no further. Carolina…read morePhysical Therapy and Sports Medicine is your best choice by far. I seriously injured my left hamstring during a marathon, which required an ultra-specialized surgery to reattach and repair. Prior to the surgery I phone-interviewed and researched physical therapy provider options. I wanted a no-nonsense, respectful philosophical approach to guide my recovery activities. I spoke with the Center's director, Erin. It was clear that we were aligned here; she included a recommendation that I start physical therapy prior to the surgery, to strengthen my leg and prepare it for rehabilitation. As I had never used crutches prior to the surgery, there was also practice assistance there too! So I began my relationship with Carolina Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine's therapeutic staff, consisting of Erin, Joe, and Liz, and Amber, as their able assistant. My pre-surgery strengthening exercises included not only leg strengthening, but also hip and core and balancing and exercises. My post surgery rehabilitation plan was phased over the course of several months, and included the first phase which included quad sets, ankle pumps, abdominal isometrics, and upper body cardiovascular exercise to maintain my fitness level. Phase two weaned me from crutches and included stationary bike exercise, balance drills, gait training, hip and core strengthening. Phase three included a gradual return to light running drills, impact drills, elliptical machine use, in addition to the exercises in Phase two. Phase four included strengthening drills, higher velocity training, and a return to running. As a result their guidance, I was able to progress through the recovery protocol well ahead of schedule, and have been able to run 9 miles straight without pain in less than four months. In addition, the core and hip strengthening exercises have also improved my running mechanics. Erin, Joe, and Liz and extremely knowledgeable clinicians, and their pleasant, straightforward approach with me was aided by the atmosphere of the Center, which was always incredibly positive. It is clear that this team enjoys their work and enjoys working together. A real difference maker!
