First off let me set the record straight- I really don't like Bed and Breakfasts. I've stayed at…read moresome pretty ones- in Ashland Oregon, in Maine. I just don't like the lack of privacy or the set time to eat or the forced conversation. When I'm traveling I prefer to chill. But this B&B has several things that set is apart and make me like it- a very casual atmosphere- a pretty location- a wonderful proprietor and policies that are different than most B&Bs. First off- there is no set time for breakfast. You can wander down when you like. Second- the lady who runs the place has come up with a brilliant plan- she sets a steaming hot pot of coffee outside your door in the morning so that you can drink your coffee in peace (and privately) before venturing down to the main room. So simple but I've never seen another B&B do that. There really isn't much in Salem NY so you'll only stop here if you happen to be in the area. But if you do and you have B&B phobia as I do you can safely book here. I just remembered the name of the lady who runs it- Laura. She's really nice.

I would have been stranded otherwise, biking legs tired for the day. The inn is just what need and want, clean rooms and bathroom, friendly and helpful host (she told me where to bike the next day), beautiful grounds, friendly farm dogs and a tasty breakfast, coffee and tea the next morning at a time of your choosing. Thank you Laura for providing a wonderful retreat from a hard day's ride.

It was great to learn the amazing history of the property, its origins as well as the amazing work put in by the owners to restore the property to its glory! Our room, "Eagle Bridge" was comfortable and clean. Tastefully decorated in period pieces, with Grandma Moses prints on the walls. The bed was a little bit of heaven. I have NEVER slept so well at an Inn or BnB before. Breakfast was tasty, a cheese frittata, with an apple compote and a delicious apple cider doughnut. The classic Jaguars and the Volvo P1800 parked alongside the Inn, were also a fun diversion and Stephen loves to talk about them and I enjoyed the conversation about a shared love of cars. As we sat at breakfast in the sun-room, enjoying the view to the east of the Green Mountains of Vermont, a family of deer wandered by on the lawn. It was lovely. We will be back, that you can bank on. Never have we had a better BnB experience!

The room has everything you'll need for your stay. Clean and charming. The mansion is full of history and beauty. And every mornings homemade breakfast made by Steve's wife was delicious! And Steve is right there for a friendly chat. I've got to say, this is my best B&B experience I've had.

Perfect location for time in Glens Falls but close enough to Lake George and Saratoga Springs that other guests covered all three locations in one day! The Inn itself is beautifully restored by its new owners who are clearly experienced in Bed and Breakfast management. The rooms are clean but simple details in decoration make it unique. Two of the rooms have gas fireplaces, we enjoyed the ease and beauty of them in our room. The lines, pillows and towels were definitely a step above what you find staying in a hotel. Appreciated the individual controls in each room for comfort. A nice touch was the small fridge in the closet. It didn't take away from the ambiance of the room but added a feature many Bed and Breakfasts don't have. Breakfast was awesome! Coffee and tea are available at any hour. Fresh coffee is out at 7:30 and breakfast served from 8:30-10. I truly enjoyed tea from a beautiful tea cup and saucer. Nancy and Bill served fresh fruit, I was impressed with the variety they offered for April. The scones, maple one day we stayed lavender the next were cooked to perfection. There were a variety of choices breakfast. The first morning both of us went with the apple crepe with caramel sauce and fresh whip cream.... yummy! I strongly suggest adding the side of Oscars sausage! The second day I went with the poached egg on an english muffin with the sausage. Cooked to perfection. A great getaway for seeing the area but as someone who lived ten minutes away it was a great opportunity for a staycation. Nancy made some great suggestions for activities based on the guests and their specific interests. Nancy and Bill made some great dinner suggestions and even took care of reservations for guests.

The breakfast was out of this world... and this coming from a girl who not only doesn't care for scones, but doesn't like nuts on them and I finished it all! Bill and Nancy were super. How often have you traveled through a small town and glimpsed its old, neglected train station and…read morewondered about the beautiful times that must have occurred there? Is that just me? Definitely not because if you find yourself in the sweet little town of Granville, NY, you're in for a treat: Mickey and Wayne have put their heart and soul into renovating the old Granville train station into a stunning bed and breakfast, the Station House B&B. When we arrived late in the evening to check in, Mickey was there to greet us and make us feel at home. And her kindness and grace poured over into every detail: from the historic photos, to the antique tables and chairs, to the timely holiday decorations, to the abundance of mugs and tea, which were always available. For which I say thank you! Because we were traveling in a party of 8, we occupied 4 of the 5 rooms, which was fantastic because that afforded us the opportunity to glimpse each cozy space. Three of the rooms have their own bathroom, but two have a shared bathroom. For us, it was no problem since we were all family. This one minor detail is something to consider when selecting your room. Each space is unique, from the name to the decor. Every detail is thoughtfully selected and creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like you're coming home each night. Although the walls were a bit thin in our room, the Ticket Office, James F and I slept like rocks, we were so comfy! But it doesn't end there. Gotta get to the breakfast part, of course! Coffee was always ready at 7AM and breakfast at 8AM each morning. Well, oftentimes breakfast was waiting for us well past 8AM because some of our group are late risers. And my god, the breakfast spread presented each morning was fantastic: tea, coffee, orange juice, pancakes, french toast, bacon, ham, pastries, yogurt, pudding, it goes on! Basically, everything to keep our bellies happy and ready for the long days ahead. Truly, what hospitality! To Mickey and Wayne: thank you for creating such a friendly and beautiful B&B! As I sit and type this back in Denver, I'm longing for that wonderful breakfast spread! It was truly a pleasure to stay at the Station House B&B.

They were great to chat with and just good down to earth people. We stated in the Freight Office. What a lovely spacious room and the bathroom was massive. There was a wide variety of food and everything was made to perfection. I honestly felt like when I used to go to my grandmas house...lots and lots of home cooked goodness! We totally can't wait to come back again. Love the place and owners!
