I work for a medical office. We had a patient come in that wanted to utilize the services of this company. They stated that Language People were contracted with their insurance, and would pay the bill for the services. Per ADA law, we allow all patients to utilize any service they choose. However, we pay for service through a company we are already contracted with (though open to exploring other options!). Our therapist made it very clear that our company would not be paying for the service.
Fast forward a few months, and to our surprise we receive a bill. I assumed it was a misunderstanding, and contacted them immediately to try to resolve it. I explained that we signed no contract, agreed to no bill, and kindly asked them to transfer the bill to the appropriate people. Responses to my emails quit coming, so I assumed it was taken care of.
A few months later, we receive a second invoice. Again, I assumed that perhaps the first person I spoke to had just missed it or made a mistake. I kindly explained what had happened, and asked them to stop billing us. After some back and forth, eventually I quit getting responses. Again, no invoices for several months. I assumed it was taken care of.
This month, I get a third invoice. This service occurred in July of last year - so in 9 months, I got three inconsistent invoices. This time, our invoice came with a letter simultaneously threatening to send us to collections, and also threatening to send the bill to the patient, which they insinuated would result in a 6 figure lawsuit against us. This has come across that they are attempting to bully and threaten us into paying a bill that was never our responsibility to begin with.
I tried to assume the best of this company, as I understand that mistakes happen. We are reasonable, and were more than happy to address this reasonably. Instead, I feel strongly that this company is manipulative, unethical, and exploiting our ADA patients. We love our ADA patients, and have worked hard to create an environment where they feel safe and protected. We follow the law, and I do not appreciate this company trying to take advantage of us.
