Hector PA is very nice, caring & compassionate which is who my son usually saw. The staff is very polite and the office is very nice and clean. Dr. Palencia however, did ask not to see my son anymore after a urine test. He is very strict which now We understand why and it was a hard lesson learned, but we sure learned and in the long run his strictness was very helpful to us. It will help My son in the long run Beautiful, large, clean office which is a rarity.

For years I had been prescribed 1 mg of lorazepam, 1mg daily. She saw this in my chart and took the opportunity to lecture me about the hazards of pain medication and benzos as if I were a strung out drug seeker..I assured her my doctor was informed and many times did not need to take the dose daily- she immediately perked up and stated "well it better be in your system then we're about to find out" (um, where else ma'am) at this time she noticed my purse buzzing, got extremely wide eyed and wouldn't hear of the fact that it was indeed, my phone vibrating in my purse. All phones were supposed to be off. Once she got through with THAT lecture too she ordered a X-ray of my NECK (for pain associated with my rotator cuff and lower back) further labs, and reminded me not to forget my urine test on the way out. Honestly never had such a poor doctor ever. Ms Fischer might be going through something we know nothing of, so I tried to be kind. But this is my health, and if I can save another the exasperation of the merry-go-round this woman obviously likes to put her patients thru I've helped! I voiced my concerns over EVERYTHING upon leaving, even with the nurse upon leaving the exam room, they all know Ms Fischer's temper and lack of bedside manner well. Then another patient showed up to wait as well. We all had 8 am appointments. The staff opened the door at 8:02. I filled out my COVID-19 paperwork and waited at the desk. About 10 minutes later the receptionist showed up and greeted one of the patients by name and grabbed her file and placed it in the rack for the nurse. Then she grabbed the other patients file and put it in the rack. At 8:30 she asked for my name. After I told her my name I explained that I had an 8 AM appointment and I was waiting since 7:30 before anyone else. she said just go have a seat and They'll call you. Then they proceeded to call the other two patients first. The one patient even told them to take me first because he could wait. They call me in at 8:38. I went into the exam room and told the nurse that I have to be at an appointment for work at 9. She just closed the door. At 8:50 I called my client to try and reschedule by leaving a voicemail. Then I called my boss who was upset because I was trying to reschedule the appointment. Fearing the consequences at 8:48 I left the exam room and told the nurse I needed to reschedule and I was upset about the situation. She asked if I could come back tomorrow. I said no I can't. She said what about 1pm today? I agreed and was turning to leave and I almost bumped into the doctor coming in the side entrance. He was just arriving at 8:55 am! Now I can understand if he had an emergency but why not tell me? At 12:30 I arrived for my 1 pm appointment and was brought back to an exam room at 1. The doctor came in at 12:09 and was visibly upset. When I said that I was sorry I didn't have time to wait in the morning he said that I should be upset because of how badly I treated his staff. I told him that it's rude and unprofessional to not communicate to your patients. If you had an emergency you should let your patients know and reschedule if they can't wait. He opened my file and asked if I was going to have my second procedure and why did you come in for your post procedure appointment without having your procedure. He had done both of my procedures within two weeks of each other. Apparently he didn't remember and maybe it wasn't documented in the file. I am scared to go back if he doesn't even remember doing my procedures. He is very old though. When I questioned him he got even more upset and closed the file. He said well if you feel better now you can make another appointment if you start hurting again. I asked if he wanted to see the injection sites he said no. Then he left the exam room. I feel relief from the treatment but will never go back to this office again. Scary that the doctor doesn't even remember a procedure he performed two weeks before. Why would the VA make an appointment with Matuk if I saw another doctor? That didn't make sense or wasn't a logical reason refuse to see me OR it's because of my service to this country. Dr. Matuk's office refused me because of my veterans service or because of my ethnic background as a Native American! I have 2 excellent insurances both Blue Cross/Blue Shield and the VA insurance but was refused service. As a proud member of the VA and the American Legion of California, I will be informing ALL veterans of this horrible group of medical "professionals" and Matuk's office! Horrible people!!!
