He's been my 90 year old mom's primary doc. When I take her to him, he rushes her like I've never seen a doc rush anyone. He rushes me too when I speak up. And I don't have dementia. His manner suggests he doesn't listen or give importance to what Mom or I say. When she began showing OBVIOUS signs of dementia and he hadn't referred her to a neurologist, a doc that treats dementia. When I pointed out the signs to him, he said she was fine. No surprise given the rush job, the not listening and unwillingness to attribute importance. He didn't make the referral until a year later when I told him her estate attorney said she needed it! The neurologist immediately arranged tests, diagnosed her with dementia and put her on memory meds. She's since shown noticeable progress. That was an entire year of not receiving meds, a year of slowly sliding down. Last week I took her to Lane for what seemed an infected eye. He didn't know what it was and told her to use hot compresses. It continued to get worse. We took her to another doc who immediately put her on an antibiotic salve.
