Dear Gary and Michelle,…read more For years I have struggled with my health , fitness, pain, and weight. The weight slowly year after year crept up on me now that I am 50. When I tried to work out and exercise, things would go great for a while, and then I would injure myself. The chronic tennis elbow, the shoulder, and the back. For the last 10 years you would put me back together and help me with my immediate discomfort. Then, I would repeat the same scenario- loose weight, exercise, and then.... injury. The cycle continued several times. Finally, I had enough and wanted my life back. My blood pressure for the first time was elevated, my cholesterol was high, heart rate elevated, stamina was poor, clothes tight, blood sugar higher than normal, and overall stress and fatigue were pulling me down. In 2015, I began my new health kick I working out harder than ever and lost a lot of weight quick. Then I hurt my back .... again. It was then that you sat me down and had a heart to heart letting me know that I wasn't 20 anymore. Exercise and diet are supercritical but you let me know that it must be different than before. You told me I need to change the weight lifting, burpees, hand stands, and donkey kicks for routines where I wouldn't get injured. You spent the time with me in PT demonstrating and showing me a new way to exercise. A technique that will help me become fit without the risk of injury. Hearing this was like running into a rock. I thought I knew the path to health and it took a lot of work, pain, and I had to struggle through the injuries. Your advice opened a new door, a door which led to a new path that was not known to me before. You have probably been telling me all along, but I wasn't ready yet. I simply didn't take your heart your comments. Now that I know better, I have taken a radical change in my life. Your care and words of wisdom and frankness were much needed at this time in my life. Dr Gallini has been my doctor since I was a small child (decades ago BTW). He is ALWAYS friendly…read more I am very verbal and could talk one's ear off. He always listens and makes solid suggestions. I now have children of my own and I really appreciate his patience. Despite the fact that he has been in practice for a few years (ahem *cough*) Dr. Gallini is very knowledgeable about current medical trends and changes. Dr. Gallini is NOT a prescription pusher. If you're wanting a doctor that will just do what you tell him/her to do and give you a prescription...don't see Dr. Gallini. He will only prescribe what he feels is most appropriate for the patient, IF anything is appropriate. He will not hesitate to tell you that what you have just has to run its' course...in the nicest way possible. :o) As with most doctors, if you have somewhere to be, make your appointment for first thing in the morning or the last appointment of the day. Dr. Gallini likes to talk with his patients, which has the potential negative side effect of always running a bit behind schedule. But I'll take 10-15 minutes behind schedule over a doctor who rushes me through like a product on an assembly line. If you need to make a routine appointment (physical, etc.) call the office as early as possible. Dr. Gallini's schedule fills up REALLY quickly. It's pretty common to make a yearly physical appointment 2-3 months out. That being said, though, I have been able to get more urgent issues seen much more quickly (sometimes even the same day.) Plan ahead when you can and cross your fingers when you can't! ;o) The office staff is, largely, good. There are several of the office ladies who have been there for awhile and know what's going on. You'll figure out who they are pretty quickly. There are also several positions that change personnel regularly. This seems to be true at many doctor's offices. Just keep notes of who you talk to, date/time, etc. JUST IN CASE you run into issues and need to reference your contact. But I think that's just good practice in general. OVERALL: The fact that I have been seeing Dr. Gallini since I was a small child and I now bring my own children to see him should speak volumes for what I think of this doctor. There are other doctor(s) in the practice with him, but I will only make my appointments with Dr. Gallini (unless we have some kind of HUGE child-illness related issue and don't have a choice.) He's a good man who truly cares about his patients. I probably shouldn't have told you about him..... ;o)

We have repeatedly been charged for things we did not understand or expect, and unless we carefully review the charges and contact the office ourselves, the money simply gets taken. In some cases, after we questioned the charges, they were reversed or refunded. Once or twice might be understandable, but when it keeps happening, it becomes very difficult to trust the billing practices of the office. My father has insurance and only saw Dr. Kim three times. His last visit was in April. Yet yesterday, months later, he was suddenly charged another $446. This is now the fourth time our family has had to deal with an unexpected charge from this office. Patients should not have to constantly monitor their accounts, call the office, and ask, "Why was I charged this?" My own experience with my thyroid medication has been even more frustrating. When I first established care with Dr. Kim in June, I had blood work done and clearly told him that I have hypothyroidism and have been taking levothyroxine long term. Naturally, I assumed that establishing care, reviewing my medical history, and doing blood work meant that my ongoing thyroid treatment would be properly managed. Today, I finished the remaining medication that had been prescribed by my previous primary care doctor and discovered that Dr. Kim had never sent a refill for my levothyroxine and had actually discontinued the medication. Now, in order to continue a medication I have already been taking long term, I am being told that I need to make another appointment and possibly have blood work done again. So I genuinely have to ask: What was the purpose of the blood work I had done in June? If a patient establishes care, clearly reports a chronic condition, provides their medication history, and already has blood work performed, why is there no proper continuity of care? Why does the patient only discover months later, after running out of medication, that the prescription was never continued? And why does resolving something that should have been addressed during the original visit require another appointment, another possible blood draw, and potentially more charges? For a chronic condition, medication continuity is one of the most basic parts of primary care. Between the repeated unexpected billing issues and the lack of follow-through with my long-term medication, I have lost confidence in this practice. I strongly recommend that patients carefully review every bill, every charge, and every medication after visiting this office.

Reston Hospital emergency room doctor didn't see all the symptoms and issues that were present and complicating her condition. She wanted to discharge her and send her home where she lives alone. She told her she needs to take Kiwi and it will take care of her condition. When I called her and explained that she lived alone, the emergency room doctor told me we're not a social service agency. Very rude and full of her self. I told her my aunt needs further evaluations and an IV because she's dehydrated and has lost a lot of her bodily fluid. The ER doctor also told me that they saw a mass in her abdomen. I told her she's a cancer survivor and we need to take that mass seriously. It took a lot of persuasive talk before she agreed to put an IV and then admit her. I was disappointed with her. Dr. Hasan Shabih on the other hand was extremely nice and courteous with excellent bedside manners. He called me when my aunt was hospitalized and informed me what was going on while my aunt was hospitalized. Definitely recommend Dr. Hasan Shabih for your loved ones especially early patients.

I'm a pretty boring patient and I might…read moreget sick once a year but Dr. Ham still went through the whole gamut of questions asking about sleeping abnormalities, headaches, joint pain, allergies, asthma, family medical ailments, thyroid problems, orthopedic problems. He took the time to ask me several times if there were things that I wanted to discuss with him which I appreciated because I did have questions that I forgot. At the end of my visit, he gave me directions to the lab near his office and answered my questions about fasting before the test. He could have easily passed me off to one of his staff to answer those questions but he didn't. When I first arrived, the receptionist was on the phone and had me sign in but didn't give further direction. I sat around for a few minutes wondering if she was going to provide me with paperwork once she was at a good stopping point with her task, but she didn't. Finally, I asked one of the nurse practitioners who showed up around reception if I needed to fill out paperwork and she gave me a clipboard. There were a few elderly couples who may be longtime patients which could be interpreted as proof of a good family doctor. The receptionist told me that Dr. Ham inherited the practice from his father and that he's "well liked." She said Dr. Durr joined the practice about 6 years ago. There was a waiting list the receptionist was calling for patients who wanted appointments. If you're looking for a doctor, Dr. Ham is accepting new patients. In case your insurance doesn't cover stuff or you have a co-pay, bring your checkbook or a wad of cash. No credit cards. The office only accepts physicals on certain days. A regular visit is 15 minutes long and a physical is 45 minutes so make sure you communicate what you need to the receptionist when scheduling so you have enough time with Dr. Ham or Dr. Durr.

They must be relatives, because otherwise I cant figure out how in the world these people keep jobs that they so self-apparently hate.

I was searching for a primary care physician near our new home and saw some good reviews on Google, so I decided to give it a shot. The initial call went smoothly, but I was a bit confused when I was told there was no way to send my previous medical records before my visit. It made me wonder how the doctor would know anything about my medical history prior to meeting. When I asked if I could email my records directly, I was told they didn't have an email system for that. I tried to fill out the basic intake questionnaires through the link they sent me, but the site crashed a few times, so I barely got any information submitted. I showed up before my 10 AM appointment, but even though I had already uploaded my insurance card, they asked me for it again. The front office staff was nice, but they looked super busy, and the lobby was packed. Seating was limited, and people were often trying to create space between themselves and others by "saving" the chair next to them, which made the VERY small lobby back up quickly. I ended up waiting for over an hour and noticed that people who arrived after me were being seen first. Eventually, a rather unusual person took my vitals, put me in a room, and said the nurse would be right with me. Then, he came back and told me to face the iPad for a "virtual" visit with the nurse. A friendly woman popped up on the screen and started asking me questions. Although I didn't like the iPad intake, the person who took my intake was very kind. After another wait, the physician came in and mentioned that she typically treats older patients but can work with younger people, too. Thanks, I guess? Even though the whole situation felt a bit off, I could tell she was doing her best given how busy things were. I didn't mind waiting because I know healthcare can be unpredictable and everyone has questions. However, I could tell I wasn't important, and my "annual exam" felt like a waste of time for both me and the staff. The doctor asked me the EXACT SAME questions the iPad nurse had already covered, and I was a bit disappointed that no one asked about my medical condition that requires blood work until I brought it up at the end. She said they might not be able to do the additional blood work during this visit but could fit it into my "follow-up" when I came back for my results next week. I found that a bit frustrating but didn't want to hold her up, as she seemed rushed and a bit scattered. Typically, a doctor or nurse will call with results, but this place tried to force me into a recheck to receive my results, which seemed scammy. Since I was there for an annual exam, I really hoped to discuss some specific tests based on her recommendations, but that didn't happen. Instead, she asked if I ride a bicycle, and when I said I didn't, she felt the need to tell me that if I ever do, I should wear a helmet. Thanks again, I guess...?The doctor left the exam room in a hurry, and I was still standing there, feeling confused by the oddest medical experience I've ever had. The whole place was just strange, informal, and cold. Clearly, this wasn't the right place for me to establish routine care.
