I believe that Dr. Lando has retired but I want to leave a review with the hopes that maybe someone will let him know what he did for me. I met Dr. Lando back in 2012 because my calcitonin levels were "out of range" (barely). Dr. Lando was persistent with me to have my thyroid taken out but I was dealing with so much at that time, that we made an agreement. If my levels ever went above a certain number I would agree to the surgery. Well it took 12 more years, but the levels did end up going past the level we agreed upon and I had the surgery. Turns out that they were able to obtain the cancer at stage 1 - and it was all because of Dr. Lando! (well him and my endo in another state and the surgeon ;-) I wish there was a way I could let him know what he did for me. Thank you Dr. Lando, you were the first endo to educate me as to what those levels meant, that I needed to keep checking my bloodwork and what I should be do moving forward. Joan read more

Here's the deal about Dr. Lando: I've known him since 2000 when I was referred to him, as one of the best Endocrinologists in the area. That was coming from the Head of Surgery at GW hospital, who is now the head of medicine at Georgetown. So hands down he is respected amongst his peers as being excellent at his craft, has been ranked as a top doctor in the area by reputable publications (i think the Washingtonian hangs in his office) and he has a waitlist to see him. Thats evidence enough. He is pretty much like family to me at this point, as I've been seeing him since then regularly. He is quirky, a bit odd, and is dated in his office practices (paper records, hand written notes, and there is a sense of urgency as folks do their job around the office, no website, no online payments, etc). But hands down, they run that place like a tight ship and if you're going through something, their followup, execution and sense of plan a/plan b/plan c, to get you going, is top notch. They have NEVER dropped the ball. Not once, in 15 years. When they say something is handled, its handled, Olivia Pope style. Where Dr. L kind of loses cool points with people is that he is a bit mad sciency....talks silly, tells corny jokes, can sometimes come too directly at you, or cross the line from a social skills perspective, if you don't know him. He means well, but if you're looking for a charming, charismatic doctor, who will croon and swoon you, he's not the one. I personally find him funny, but he can rub some folks the wrong way. If you can look past the small bit of quirkiness that comes with his brilliance, you will be in for a doctor that excels at endocrinology care. As for other folks around the office, he tends to have tenured folks (which is a sign of a well run establishment and taking decent care of your employees). Diane has been there as long as i've known him, and his lab lady, i can't think of her name but i think its Maria, she's been there forever too. He's rotated some folks over the years but not a ton. the most turnover you see is in the blood draw area, but those people are contracted by Quest (or whoever it is, that puts people there for him). Anyway...care is an A+. Being in the 21st century technologically - D. Staff - B+, bedside manner - B-. He is an exceptional doctor. Just suck up the customer service issues and see him. Trying to schedule appt for my mother. Confirmation call I'm told first appt with the practice/doctor will not be with the doctor but will be with the physician assistant. Practice closed noon - 1:30 pm on Wednesday, noon - 2pm on Thursdays, closed Fridays noon to whenever. Most people use the lunch hours to call their doctor! They don't communicate with other doctors electronically. Don't have a portal. Everything is a fax. Do you have a fax machine in your home? They're generally operating in the stone ages. The only redeeming quality was they SAID they had familiarity with Medtronic pump setting calibration and uploading/reading the data in Carelink. read more

I thoroughly love Dr. Lando and his staff. They are always responsive and I get in quickly. The staff are courteous and helpful. I'm totally satisfied with my care. Dr. Lando has a great interactive personality and he asks questions about how I'm feeling and related questions to determine my best care. I drive pretty far to see him or his PA and it's hands down worth it! I've been his patient for six years. read more

I think Doctor Lando is one of the very best Doctors I have seen. He is very thorough and can be tenacious when looking for something. He is an old fashioned Doctor working from his own forms and small pieces of paper that look like a mess that he manages very well. The lab folks are very professional with gentle needles and never a re-do. I have the utmost confidence in Lando as a diagnostician. Lando's staff is the very best, they leave nothing to chance and make your education and comfort their priority. Dr. Lando himself is not the warm cuddly personable type and can be a bit clinical. BUT, if you need the best Doctor for your condition I think Lando should be on your list of people to see. Warning ... He can be hard to get in to see without referral from another Doctor or your PCP. read more

If i could give this zero stars I would. DO NOT COME HERE! The front desk was rude over the phone. The day before my appointment i called like 4 times to reschedule because i had an emergency. The next morning i called again and no one answered. Like do they not work?! So they didnt know i wasnt coming to my appointment, and instead of calling me and asking me where i am they called my primary doctor and complained about how didnt show up and they dont want my service. He didn't listen or take time with me to discuss my issues. He breezes through you quickly and then pushes you onto his nurse. I've switched doctors and am much happier now. It is hard to get an appointment with his office. read more

I love Dr. Lando, first time I see him he had explain what he want to do and very patient and knowledgeable and FUNNY DOCTOR . I was the one try to rush out of office to work and his staff Diana (i think) also the guy who do the blood test are very wondering. This is my first time feel dr really care of their patient and try to fix their problem. I love this Dr. Even though the result was worse than I think but I have so much confidence in him so I am not feeling so much concerns of the treatment. Most unprofessional doctor I have ever encountered. When I asked questions about my condition and spoke of my symptoms, he teased me and dismissed my concerns. He kissed me on the cheek when he greeted me for an appointment which is absolutely unacceptable and inappropriate. Stay away. read more

I think Dr. Lando is fantastic. I first found out that I had a thyroid issue while I was pregnant. I first went to see an Endo in Arlington who came "highly" recommended... that quack told me "wow... your tests are weird." Since "weird" is not a medical diagnosis (as much as I think it should be) and saying something so flippant to a pregnant lady is just about the dumbest move you can make, I started looking around for a new Endo. After a lot of research, I found Dr. Lando. I called and they were able to get me in quickly... that may be due to the fact that I was preggers, but my first appointment with Dr. Lando was great. After looking at my test results, he explained everything in great detail. He spend over an hour with me answering all of my questions and explaining the course of treatment. I have continued to use him as my Endo and have been very, very happy. I would highly recommend him to anyone. read more

Dr. Lando sucked. First he asks questions then interrupts me when I am responding as if it is too much of an inconvenience for him to listen. Then he constantly speaks down to me in a condescending manner which was outright RUDE (as if I were a five year-old or a 90 year old fragile man). I am a 50 year-old college educated man with a history in health care, and I never spoke to anyone in such a manner and never witnessed anyone spoken to in such a negative tone. I have seen Dr. Lando 3 times for a thyroid issue. He said at my first appointment that as sson as I was pregnant, I needed to see him to ensure my thyroid was working properly. When I went in after having my OB send test results indicating I was pregnant, he spoke over me and never let me speak. it wasn't until AFTER my appointment that I had to tell his office staff to put the information in my chart (they had not bothered to read the fax from my OB). When they told Dr. Lando, he came to the waiting area to discuss it IN FRONT OF OTHER PATIENTS. When I returned for a check up, he again did not want to listen to anything I had to say, touched my pregnant belly without asking first and make a horribly inappropriate joke saying that my lab results were great and that I "looked great on paper but I can't say the same thing about you in person ... I mean, I'm not a plastic surgeon." I was insulted not about the comment about my looks, but that he actually thought he could say something so ridiculous and misogynistic and think it was funny. Complete asshat. The staff is also incredibly unprofessional, repeatedly losing paperwork and blaming other dr offices, refusing to call me by the preferred name I indicated on forms multiple times and asked them to use, and relating my personal information to me in the waiting area in front of other patients. The nurse took my blood pressure and pulse in a break room with food sitting out at two appointments. read more
