    a grilled sandwich and pickles

If you're looking for a great charming place to stop in and have a delicious grilled cheese sandwich, then this is the place. While my husband and I were on a day trip, we stopped in Paoli, Wisconsin to check out this cute café. What a treasure! So many cute gifts, wines and cheeses. It was hard not to leave with some thing. But the bonus was the grilled cheese sandwich. We opted for the Anabasque sandwich with the shallot and red wine confit topping and it was over the top delicious. Perfect amount of cheese with the best pull and crunch. There is also a small but nice wine selection. The owner is friendly and wonderful to chat with. Not a lot of seating, it's just a long table that doubles as a display but somehow it works perfectly for dining. Don't miss out on this place and bring a cooler to load up on cheese to purchase for a perfect holiday charcuterie board.

About a year and a half ago my husband and I went to Harvest on the square for dinner and ordered a cheese board. One of the cheeses was Pecora Nocciola, and I swore I would track it down and buy more. Time passed, and then the pandemic hit, and it went to the back of my mind. Last weekend I finally decided it was time to get a wedge. I ventured to Paoli to the cheese shop and grabbed some Pecora Nocciola, as well as the Pipit. Of course the trip wouldn't be complete without picking up some Potter's Crackers. The shop is cute and quaint, and I had to take a picture of the adorable sheep statue. I will be back for sure!

No reviews for this place yet? Well, let me be the first to tell you - YUM YUM, give me some! Today I had the most amazing toast for breakfast that I have EVER had. I could eat this every morning. $4.50 and absolutely delightful. I got the "sweet" with fresh sheep cheese, pear ginger jam, and thyme. It wasn't overly sweet just downright delicious. Very generous with the toppings and they pared together perfectly. My husband tried the savory and he loved that as well. Coffee was $3, kind of pricey, but hey, it was good. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside on a picnic table and enjoyed this light breakfast. The picture really doesn't do it justice. You just need to try it. They have grilled cheese sandwiches as well which I can imagine are great. I need to ask what kind of bread they use because it was soooo good! I can't wait to go back. Never thought I'd be this so enthralled by toast!

So glad to see that cheese is back in Paoli. And tasty too. They have a nice selection of cheeses from other area dairies, as well as their own creations made from sheep's milk. They have a nice menu of sandwiches (my wife loved her grilled Anabasque cheese sammi) and other packaged artisan foods and gifts. Alas, the famous water pump at the nearby park was broken. So much for nostalgia.

You will want to avoid this place. Run so poorly I believe you can hear the Keystone Cops music playing in the background.

Food came quickly and I loved the chicken bacon ranch sandwich and tomato soup. Sandwiches come with unlimited milk and they have lots of good flavors. They also have a bunch of great local products like meats, cheeses, butter, and all of the Sassy Cow items too. I got a big bottle of maple syrup and some salami.

We all got grilled cheese variations with apples, salad and soup as sides. The chicken bacon ranch grilled cheese was overall the best. Both of the salads had rotten leaves, so best to avoid that unless you're ok picking through for good leaves. Service 5/5: the food came quickly and the staff was very friendly. Ambiance 1/5: we were very disappointed overall since they hype themselves up as an experience that includes cows. There were no cows in sight. I know during the summertime they will have baby cows, but overall to me there should be more transparency around not actually seeing cows when you visit the creamery. Other than that there is a small parking lot that can get very busy at times, but plenty of places to sit. We did love the kids playground outside but all of the bikes were broken/didn't work and the bags put away for corn hole. Overall we were really disappointed at this trip. No cows and lunch was just ok. If you are looking for a spot just for ice cream, they have amazing options and plenty of room for the kids to play, just don't tell your kids there are cows because you likely won't see any.
