My husband and I hired Landis to complete our Federal and State tax return. We reached out to this firm in a timely manner and submitted all required information, via their portal, by early March 2023, yet we were still required to file for a tax extension. Next, our State Tax bill was debited from our account twice. When we reached out to Landis, we were told that they had diligently looked into the reason for the duplicate payment but could not find the reason. When we tried to reach out to them for some alternate explanations, this was an excerpt from the scathing email response we received: "I understand that this is a troubling situation, but it seems that you are very committed to making this our fault. We have taken this situation very seriously, investigated it thoroughly, and have proven that this was not a mistake that originated from us. We are confident that the error did not originate from our people or our computer system. There is no possibility that we could have filed it twice. We have issued you a credit to try to help you out and we care about the outcome, but we cannot take responsibility for an error that we did not create. I'm not sure what more we can offer you to assure you of this." We still have no answers and am appalled by the unprofessional and insulting way that our situation was handled. landis and associates was recommended to me by a business owner, who had a good experience...I am an individual with a very low fixed income , a small side gig , and had a complicated (involving 3 states, a small inheritance, selling and buying of property and various other complications) return in 2021. I think for them , i was way too small a client (despite charging me 3 times the rate i'd been paying in california)to get the care and attention i needed this tax year, so it was a disaster from beginning to end...small accounts like mine should def look elsewhere for services read more
