The star of this hidden gem must be its lush terrace surrounded by park ... an absolute dream on a warm summer evening, and deservedly popular. The menu changes roughly monthly, it reads unassumingly almost, prices not too ambitious, but the execution of every single course was refined, flavorful, and spot on. Even the home-made bread they serve deserves special mention. Good list of open wines to accompany the food. Combine that with the friendly, personable team, and you immediately have to consider this one of the very top Elbvororte addresses. Will be back. Definitely.

Great restaurant that really has it all:…read more * Fun location at the heart of bustling Eimsbüttel. * An eclectic interior design that mixes a boar's head with Riviera style bookshelves full of cook books and golden candlestick-holders. * A really innovative menu of German dishes with a modern twist. * And friendly staff with enough personality to give non-boilerplate recommendations We tremendously enjoyed the giant pork chops in cocoa cauce, goat cheese apple burgers, a lovely Spanish red wine made of Grenache and Tempranillo grapes, and a lovely sweet but crisp dessert wine that wasn't on the menu.

Landhaus Scherrer is an interesting combination of first class and family in its decor and service. The single waiter than handled my room was a gentleman - thoughtful, professional, and capable of a laugh at the sight of a child (a family was dining that night). The greeting woman seemed quite similar - a bit serious at first, but clearly very kind if you needed help. So the atmosphere was excellent, but the food actually topped it. This is no neighborhood comfort food. After picking out an incredibly inexpensive (but good) wine for me, the waiter brought out a complementary plate of variations on a pumpkin theme - ice cream, custard, pumpkin slices, etc, all prepared differently and all wonderful. After a salad came the crusted duck dish. It was one of the best duck dishes I've ever had - full of flavor and wonderfully prepared. I also had an excellent desert, but I can't recall it any longer. In sum, Landhaus Scherrer is a real find for a visitor of Hamburg. I hope it's well-known by the locals. Regardless, all who visit or live in Hamburg should stop in.

Wanting to really grasp the authenticity of our trip to Germany, we decided on German food. This restaurant is fairly close to Wunderland so if you're heading over there, definitely recommend stopping by! Typically you have to make a reservation but we were lucky and arrived at around 5:30 pm and scored a nice little table for 2 by the window. They were super sweet in giving us a simplified english menu, along with the normal german one. I desperately tried to understand the regular menu but it was tough for someone who literally only knows "danke" and can barely pronounce it correctly! I was really craving Schnitzel and Spaetzle but unfortunately they did not have any spaetzle so I went for Schnitzel or the breaded pork with a fried egg and fried potatoes. My friend got the Salmon with Taligatelle. I also ordered a lübzer pils (0.5L obviously) and my friend took a bottle of still water. the food was super quick to arrive and it was delicious! my pork was moist, juicy with the most perfectly cooked and fresh egg (very yummy compared to the ones you get in the US!) and the potatoes were unbelievably tasty! My friend's pasta was also very well seasoned and her salmon was buttery and fresh. The meal really blew us away and hit the spot. Service was a little slow since it packed up quickly and we were all the way in the corner but that's fine--I enjoy the leisure of getting to relax and enjoy dinner at our own pace! Don't forget, if you pay with a card, you should definitely tip some cash extra. 10% is customary for sit down restaurants and Das Kontor definitely deserved it! Danke!!
