While it took a while to get on their schedule it was worth the wait.. They gave us a very competitive number for weekly mowing , and an equally competitive proposal for a spring cleanup. My yard hasn't looked this good in the 20 years I've lived here. Every week they edge, mow, trim, weed the beds and then use a blower to clean it all up. They also trim the bushes and shrubs. It's like having a full time gardener keep your place looking like the envy of the neighborhood. We are exceptionally pleased with the service and recommend them to anyone who asks. Tom B. Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value…read moreWe were looking for a hardscaper to install a patio in our townhome backyard on a relatively short timeline (~month). We contacted more than 5 different contractors; some of which were rather uninterested in even performing an estimate. On the contrary, Dave with HL Design was prompt in contacting me (same day that I inquired via home advisor) as well as coming by my property and performing an estimate. We received 3 different estimates, and ultimately chose HL Design seeing as his was the best combination of value and quality body of work. The job itself turned out excellent and was completed on the timeline we had agreed to. One other thing I found interesting was that all other contractors felt they could easily disconnect and reconnect my AC unit since we wanted the unit to sit on the patio itself. HL design however suggested we call a professional to have this service done. This may have been an added cost but I believe it was the right advice seeing as there is much more that went into this than I had expected. I used Tony with Urbana HVAC for this and he was awesome in coming out on very short notice. That said, very happy with the work of HL design and we will surely enjoy our new outdoor living space as the weather starts to warm up!

We initially contacted Metro Landscape & Construction to help with a messy drainage situation under…read moreour deck, but ended up with so much more than we anticipated. When we had our deck built last year we were not sure how badly the rain drainage would make the area under the deck a mess. It had gotten quite problematic over the year. So we called in several contractors to seek their advice and only Fred Botsford of Metro Landscape and Construction provided a solution we felt confident in. He architected a drainage plan with several collection points and river rock to dress up the area. His crew did a fabulous job implementing the solution and we are extremely pleased. As we worked with Fred we also asked him to remove some plantings, re-plant grass, and completely re-do our front landscaping. Fred worked patiently with us as we decided on shrubs. The final product is fabulous.

They insisted that I'd only contracted for the front yard so hadn't treated the backyard AT ALL. Not true, as confirmed by a quick review of the contract. They admitted their mistake and refunded a few hundred bucks (the backyard portion, to date). George said they'd have no problem getting the backyard under control, but it was already July and that's not how weeds work - they had months to happily proliferate, and since then it's only gotten worse. Based on this experience, I had no intention of renewing for this year. No matter - they started up automatically, without notice. I called to cancel, relaying my frustration, and they said they'd revert with a better rate. They never did, and when I followed up they quoted a HIGHER price per application. George said it was based on a recalculated treatment area, but the square footage he referenced was for my entire plot, including the footprint of my house/pool/wooded areas/etc. I pointed this out and, despite multiple follow-up emails, they never responded. Very poor customer service. They screwed up my yard and then ghosted me.
