Buckeye Sports Center - Shame on you!!!…read more Saturday of last week I went to Buckeye Sports Center to pickup my skis that were being tuned and to pickup another set of older skis that I attempted to sell at their annual ski swap. My older skis did not sell and I needed to pick them up. I was late picking up my skis as a result of my Father's illness, death and funeral. Buckeye Sports Center informed me that because I was late picking up my skis from the ski swap that I was not entitled to the return of my skis or the 200 dollars that I was attempting to sell them for (for which I was to receive store credit). Please note that Buckeye Sports still had plenty of other skis in back remaining to be picked up, they just for a very odd reason did not have my skis. I gave my return ticket to the store clerk and he stated that their records indicated that someone had already picked up my skis. My response was, "well clearly you gave my skis to the wrong person." The clerk responded, "how do we know that" - implying that I was lying to him. Please note that I have been a customer of Buckeye Sports for several decades and as recently had 4 pairs of skis tuned by them. I asked the clerk to review the situation with the owner of Buckeye Sports who was in back and he did. The owner did not have the respect, nor the character, to speak directly with me and instructed the clerk to tell me that there was nothing ownership was willing to do. Thereby callously disregarding why I was late picking up the skis and completely ignoring the fact that the reason why the skis were not there was because his employees made a mistake and gave my skis to another customer who had similar skis. Mistakes happen, but there is no excuse for Buckeye Sports' poor treatment of me as their customer and unwillingness to correct the mistake that was made by their staff member. Needless to say, I will never shop at Buckeye Sports. Their actions yesterday demonstrate bad business practices and even worse business ethics.

They did an excellent job educating me about my new boat as this is my first boat after purchasing a Hobie Pro Angler from them years ago. They put a lot of time, attention, and detail into prepping my boat so it would be water ready. They worked with me to get all the features on the boat that met my needs. VIP Treatment with the boat pickup as they were flexible with scheduling, had a congratulations sign, everyone walking on the boat took their shoes off, they consistently offered drinks/restroom, their service guys came out to answer technical questions, and they highlighted critically important parts of the manual so I may quickly revisit for review as a lot of information was covered during pick up. They don't just want to sell you, but they want to make sure you are set up for success, you are safe, and you have an all around great experience on the water and with Buckeye. Customer oriented all around. Would recommend anyone give Buckeye the first stop before looking elsewhere.

A young man who is in the shop said to follow him, he was on his way over there. Jokingly, I asked him, "we don't have to hold hands or anything do we", he said, "I prefer that we don't". Immediately I found the humor of this place compatible with my own. So right there they received a rating of 5 out of 10. When my friend showed up, we both walked in and started discussing pipe tobacco with the man behind the counter. I didn't get his name (regrettably), but he was extremely knowledgeable about pipe tobacco (rating now 10/10). I was looking to buy Mac Baron Seven Seas Royale blend. Sadly, he informed me that Mac Baron was bought out and is no longer going to be producing the Seven Seas blends (looks like I'll have to strap on the pith helmet and go on safari to find some). The place is very attractive with a well stocked humidor (rating now 10/10 + 2). Do I recommend this place? Not only yes, but hell yes!

Received a Christmas gift of a pair of Nikes with the WVU logo on them but they did not fit. We were told that they were in stock and we could try on a different size to make sure they'd fit. Once we got there, there was one other customer infront of us with one person behind the counter. Once the salesman was done helping the other customer he started helping us. We explained to him what the issue was and he was very helpful and polite. However, the shoe was not instock at that location and we weren't offered to try on a pair to make sure we got the correct size. I don't mean to say the salesman didn't do his job, the customer infront of us just kept butting in asking 50 million questions after the salesman was helping us. They did arrive at my home in less than a week and a lucky guess on the new size worked great.

I'd like to update my previous review with one admittedly from a more experienced standpoint…read more Since my pervious review, I have returned a few times; and these few times have actually been very enjoyable, and the service has been much better. One thing to note, is their 2000 FPS limit is for rifles. The FPS limit for handguns is 1600 FPS. This will not pose any issues for many, however as someone who regularly shoots 454 Casull and 460 S&W, 1600 is pretty limiting. Summing up, service and experience has been all in all very satisfactory in the last month, and therefore I must update my review and credit The Marksman of Norton, Ohio with a well deserved extra star. It's definitely worth a go!
