Stephen was friendly, provided prompt, quality service and respected my cat and my girlfriend who was sleeping during the day because she had just worked a night shift. I had one small window screen to install on my bedroom window. I made an appointment with him over text to come make some measurements. He arrived and quickly took some measurements and told me he had to make the screen and then he would text me to set up an appointment for installation. He texted me a couple days later and came by to install the window screen within that week. As a trades person I respect workers that know their trade and I'll either pay the quoted amount or I'll get a different quote. I felt that his price was fair so went with Stephen. Relying on customer provided measurements leaves too much margin for error. Stephen doesn't want to make 2 separate trips but he understands he has to, to make sure the job gets done correctly. The price to do the job is X amount. The price to not do the job is 0$. I understand people want more information, want to see examples, want transparency in pricing and want a fancy website but what I want to prompt, friendly service and a window screen and that's what I got. There's contractors that cater to the people who have provided 1 star reviews to this business and they likely charge double for essentially the same product. Stephen was excellent on all fronts with my order for a single screen to replace one that I had custom ordered from another company about a decade ago. He was quick to return my call, his pricing is nearly identical to other companies (measurements annd delivery cost the same, screen slightly cheaper) and his customer service much stronger. I was ghosted by one of his competitors three (!) times. Stephen came and measured the window within 2 days of our first call and told me it would be two weeks until it was ready for delivery and installation. Just a week later it was ready and he delivered and installed it in mere minutes the next day. He under promised and over delivered, the best way to set and then exceed expectations! I needed replacement screens for my place and gave Lam's a call to ask about his services. I explained that I needed 4 screens made and that I have exact measurements and photos already. He then said that he'd need to come over and measure himself for a charge of around $150, which I explained wasn't needed. He wasn't happy about that. I wanted to see examples of the screens he makes, soI asked if he had a store that I could go to to see examples...he said no. I asked if he had a websiite that I could see examples...he said no. I then asked if he could email me pictures of his screens...he said no to that as well. At this point it was very obvious that he didn't want my business, so I said thanks and good bye. Stephen did an excellent job fitting screens for our condo windows. We wanted something so that we could leave our windows open but keep our cats in. Hey look great, snap in with magnets so no damage to the window frame. Stephen had the screens ready when he said he would and didn't even take a deposit before custom making them. Would recommend! I gave Stephen a call to order 2 balcony door and 2 window screens. He came on time and measured my doors and windows. Very reasonable prices. $125 for the door and $55 for the windows. Labour was $70. I upgraded the windows to magnet attachments. These are awesome because no holes need to be drilled into your windows. Stephen pointed out that my door frames were uneven because of building sag. He also gave me pointers on some window problems I had. Order time was one week. He came on-time once again and installed my order without a problem. One of the door screens had a torn plastic piece and Stephen already knew that and had it replaced on the spot. "Give me a call if there are any problems." He is very polite. When in my house, he took off his shows, cleaned up after himself and made absolutely sure that everything that he opened was closed shut afterwards. He just explained the product on the phone but I wasn't familiar with it so asked to see it by myself. I offer to go to his place to see the product but he said he is too busy and can't make time. Cheap. Some screens just too tight to get in & out easily. Crinkled screening you can see waves in it, not pulled tight enough? The mesh squares are off, so screening looked crooked. The other company on yelp in the area had almost same price, wish I went with them. read more
