Hometown businesses with that good old fashioned customer service are hard to find nowadays, but Lamps Plus hit it out of the park tonight. I brought an elderly and disabled friend there today because she just needed a lightbulb changed in her old lamp from the 1970s. The young lady who helped us was so sweet, and went the extra mile to take time with my friend and understand what she needed and listen to her stories. She found the correct bulb (an unusual size and wattage) and when it came time to check out, she said, "You're good to go." My friend kept insisting on paying, but the employee was adamant - said to enjoy our day and come back soon. It really was an exceptional experience. You just don't get that much anymore. I've been a customer at Lamps Plus for several years, but they've earned me for life after today. read more

I spent thousands of dollars on light fixtures. Put it in a remodeled office building. Basically new construction. Another 250 some dollars in light bulbs. They replaced round one that never worked. The light bulbs were horrible. Then round two of all the replacements stopped working. Also. I can put regular LEDs in the same fixtures and they work fine. They won't take them back and they won't return my money because they said it's been over a year. On faulty light bulbs. They won't stand behind what they sell. They also told me they'd be lifetime replacements. And now they say that's not true!! read more

My better half went to Lamps Plus in order to procure some more down tube extensions for a hanging light we have. She brought one of the extensions we already have to use to match up with what we need. She was helped by one of the employees who matched up the part and placed an order for two. We received the shipment and, upon opening it, realized immediately that they weren't the correct parts. I called the store and spoke to the employee who placed the order. She adamantly stated that she'd ordered the correct parts, then proceeded to tell me how it wasn't even a light they sold. So, even though she had matched up the part we provided with a part they could supply, it was our fault because it was a light they don't sell. Talk about a customer service fail. read more

Nothing super fancy, but the selection is huuuuge, and they're always having a sale. You won't get screaming-deal prices here, but the prices are really good. If you have a few questions or just don't want to wait for delivery, this is a really good option. They have a lot of stuff in stock, and will unscrew something from the wall to sell it to you, if that's what it takes. I bought some exterior fixtures here, and the staff was really helpful. Walked me through all my options for the specs I needed, waited patiently while I picked out the styles and such that looked the best, and rung me up quickly. Sold me plenty of bulbs, without any pressure to upsell at all. And, as noted, they came out and unscrewed a model from the display when it wasn't in the back. They have a few end tables and wall mirrors, too--stuff you need to make room for a small lamp or move light around in a room. I like this place; I like knowing there's a reasonably competitive option for basic stuff that you only need from time to time. read more

A FLAKY outfit not honoring their word!!!! Don't patronize them. Had a rebate offer of $20 on $100 purchase on line from Lamps Plus from my credit card. Went to Lynnwood store and decided on a water fountain. Sales person asked me to purchase it there, told her about my on line purchase offer requirement. She checked with manager and said it is the same. She placed the order on my CC, but never received the rebate, checked with CC company and was told it was a kiosk purchase. Called Lynnwood Lamps Plus store and was told to bring my receipt for a credit. Went there and Manager Mel Cluck denied the credit and said sorry, I cannot do anything you can return it, this was after sales person explained the circumstances. Went back to the store for the third time, returned the merchandize and told Mel that was my third trip, store gave me wrong information TWICE....she says "Thank you fir your patient"....Wow!!!! This was all for $20 credit on $360 purchase. I won't trust these guys no more. read more

They've got a ton of lights - mostly chandeliers and ceiling lights - and the prices are good - as long as you buy them on sale. Amazingly (given Overstock, Wayfair, etc.), they're usually busy on weekends, and I had to wait longer than expected - or should have. Once Kareen got to is she was great though, and rather than make me wait a week for the chandelier we wanted to go on sale, she offered me the display model they'd just pulled at a great discount. They also stored it for a week or so until the installers could come out to hang it. On the down side, I'm NOT a fan of the install process. Regardless of how they word it in the store, they contract out installs, and while the guys from the install company were great, their fee structure is CRAZY and they gave me misinformation when I booked the install. I wanted to have them install a second fixture (purchased elsewhere) at the same time they installed the one bought at LP - which they said they could do. I was told all install would be charged based on difficulty and time - and given a quote for a "challenging and very high installation" for my second piece. When they came, the chandelier from LP was up in 20-minutes, which was great (although I've since noticed they neglected to trim both the ground wire and the extra links on the chain). Then they moved to 'my' fixture - and had it up in the same amount of time... but still charged me for a "challenging" install - the same rate as the original, which included a base fee I should not have been charged for the second piece. Would I go back to Lamps Plus? After that, probably not. It left a bad feeling with me - especially since it's one of the few things you still want to shop for in person. read more

This store is one of my happy places! I went in with my friend Laura and she's legally blind. We asked for assistance from Alaina because she seemed very helpful and approachable! She was so delightful and so knowledgeable with all the different chandeliers, pillows & mirrors we had questions about. I am happy to say that Chris has totally changed the atmosphere in the Lynnwood store. I visited on a day when he was working in the stock room. As he was on the floor reloading goods he was approached by a customer with an electrical issue. He attempted in the kindest of ways to let the man know what he was trying to do was not possible with the items in stock. Chris offered to special order him something that might work and gave him the name of a store that could likely assist him as well. The man stated he had already been there and kept asking Chris for the impossible. Showing extreme customer service, Chris again tried to explain why the mans idea was not feasible. Finally, the man got it thru his thick skull and wandered off. Chris turned to me (he had acknowledged me during the prior exchange) and asked how he could help me. Confirming I was Donna, we proceeded to shop together. He helped me choose two chairs and a "toadstool". The chairs were back ordered for several weeks, so I knew I would be visiting the store again soon. On my birthday I went to pick up the chairs. They were up front waiting for me. The store had called the day before to let me know of their arrival. Chris was again working, and asked if I needed anything else. I was looking for a floor lamp for my formal dining room. He found just the right one. On sale. Perfect! His employees made eye contact and seemed happy to be there. The other gentleman working the counter was funny and made the customer next to me laugh too. The other issue I brought to Chris' attention was that when I ordered a lamp online (after my first unsuccessful visit to his store) it was shipped with empty lightbulb boxes. He promised to take care of it and actually did! A week or so later a box appeared on my doorstep!!! I am impressed with how hard Chris works to make improvements in his store. He doesn't just treat me special because I posted a less than stellar review, he honestly believes in customer service and has an excellent understanding of his products. read more

We are building a very modern home and have been looking for over 2 months for our lighting needs. After several frustrating trips to other lighting stores and many hours searching on-line, Sam was able to solve my entire homes' lighting needs in about an hour!! I have some very special needs and desires and she was able to solve everything very quickly and with the best attitude and disposition. Super helpful staff and a decent selection. I've bought multiple fixtures and ceiling fans here. They'd get five stars except for their digital marketing strategies. I purchased a fixture in store on a Wednesday and provided my e-mail address explicitly for the warranty, stating that I did not consent to any other email. The person helping me replied 'of course' and we completed the transaction. By that next Saturday I had received *five* spam emails. I called and requested that the opt out which should have been completed in store be completed as I had explicitly requested. They were very helpful, but one day later I have two more spam emails from them so I'm not sure how effective that change was. I very much recommend their products and staff but also highly recommend you do not provide your email address. Perhaps corporate will be able to make some changes with this feedback. read more

I just checked in my mirror, and I am, in fact, actually visible! Having stood around in Lamps Plus for a considerable time I had started to think that maybe no on could actually see me. No service. None. Not even an "I'll be with you right away." Good inventory, but you might as well just look in through the window for all the help you get. Perhaps they should employ cats: just as good at ignoring you, but much cheaper than human employees. The other couple in looking forlornly around was also ignored, so it wan't just me! I'm learning to walk on a prosthesis, so standing around is especially painful. I'll go elsewhere. read more

Let there be light! If you have lighting needs, you should put this store on your list. As others have said, this is not a cheap store but you definitely get good value for your dollar. I enjoy the selection and the way the store is organized. Even though I've been there for something specific, I've still walked around the entire store just because I like looking at all the different kinds of lamps and fixtures. My kiddo was responsible for one visit to the store. He was searching for a Lava Lamp that he was going to purchase with his own money. We had a bit of difficulty finding a real "Lava Lamp" but they had them here and at reasonable prices. Customer service has always been great but they've always been busy when I've been there. I'm fine waiting because they are giving everyone exceptional service. Oh, and if you check in on Yelp, you get free light bulbs! Win! read more

We told the salesman what we wanted, he looked up an item for us and when we turned around he was helping another customer who was already being helped by another salesperson. La-La-Lamp land. A bit overwhelming! But they do have a great selection to fit anyones lighting needs! I'm on the hunt for some outdoor lighting to update and boost our curb-appeal. I already tried the BIG box stores, and thought I would check this place out. They did have a lot of great options, but still couldn't find the perfect piece. I actually did find quite a few options on their websiite that I did like. If you're looking for overhead lighting, track lighting, dining room lighting, chandeliers etc... this is the place to go. They have a HUGE assortment to choose from. Their prices are reasonable, and very comparable to a big box store. Don't get me wrong there are several items in the store that are astronomically priced, but they do have a good selection for the budget-minded consumer as well! When my wife arrived to pick up the lamp, they would not honor the price from their own online website. She left without purchasing the light. Talk about lack of common sense by store management. This Lighting Store is the best anywhere in the Pacific Northwest! I had a problem with a kitchen light fixture and they were so nice. They ordered a new fixture and the next week when it came in to the store, they sent out an Electrician to install it and make sure everything was working! Last week I bought a mirror and discovered that it was to large for my bathroom and again no problem with the return. Kareen Vincent is the the most wonderful Lighting consultant there! She remembered my husband from a few weeks past when he purchased the mirror for my birthday and was so friendly and nice to me when I returned it. I called the store and spoke with Marshall, to get some information about a particular lamp I saw on the Lamps Plus website. While on the phone, I described the difficulty we were having finding a lamp that would meet all our lighting needs (good reading light, LED, a shade or shape that would avoid glare from the light when walking around the room and dimmable). After discussing with Marshall, it became clear that the lamp I called to inquire about would not meet all these needs, but Marshall recommended a different lamp that turned out to perfectly meet our needs and was in the store, where we could come in and check it out. We went to the store the next day and Marshall showed us the lamp, sold it to us and we were on our way in a short time.
