Every pic said free cancelation as I selected the room...then when someone suspects an error, they refuse to allow cancelation. 4

0 stars. BE VERY CAREFUL.They stole $200.46 from me. Booked online & it said free cancelation. They use unethical pressure tactics to rush to purchase. Price charged did not match what I selected & I cancelled immediately. They gave me an email run around, did not abide by their free cancelation, and refused to cancel. They sent 17 robot emails to overwhelm my effort to dispute. I was stuck emailing them over and over and it was clear I was dealing with a bot-nothing made any sense. I had to dispute with my bank. The bank gave me my money back. I was in the middle of a severe trauma when this all happened. Turns out, though they could not be bothered to have a human speak to me or resolve, they certainly fought it with the bank & I just realized theough an audit that they convinced my bank to charge me. I am re-disputing it now. Their booking process is FRAUDULENT. They seek $ & greed & steal from their guests. Shady & scam artists. I will fight this and I want my money back!

I have been staying with this business for more than 10 years since before the renovations. And now , recently , since after the renovations. I had loved it before for the rustic charm and now I love it even more. The staff is exceedingly friendly and courteous, especially the front manager j. (Nice family guy cute kids) they have wonderful rooms, and especially the group rooms.AKA the cottages , I would strongly recommend them for groups of three or more , since they have kitchens and large living room areas. I have such amazing memories of this place, and it's so amazingly maintained and beautifully kept.I hope we can continue to give our money to this place as the grounds are beautiful. Truly a well kept secret. But i'm hoping to bring more business here , so people can enjoy it as much as I do. Especially with the new brunch business settling in next door the food is great.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. Cockroach infested, blood/fecal stains on sheets, air conditioning hardly worked and when we called the front desk to repair the AC unit they sent someone from maintenance and all that guy said was it takes about 6-8 HOURS to cool the room down. The next morning we woke up to find cockroaches crawling on the floors and walls. We pulled back the sheets to see if we could find bed bugs, and ended up finding what appeared to look like dried blood stains or possibly fecal stains. We immediately packed up and went to the front desk wanting to speak to the manager, who also happens to be the owner (from my understanding), who was not even there. The front desk worker had terrible people skills and didn't help us at all, but gave us a false promise that we would later hear from the manager within an hour. We never heard from the manager, so I called to speak to him. I let him know the situation I had dealt with in one of the rooms, to which his response was "you stayed there all night and I will not be giving you a refund". I asked for a refund and was said his behavior was highly unprofessional to which he hung up the phone on me. I have time stamps from the photos of us finding these cockroaches, stains, and even a used band aid in the trash below the trash liner, the following morning after we stayed in this hotel all night. GROSS. The manager is extremely unprofessional, rude, and it is absolutely criminal that this inn is STILL in business after all of the terrible reviews and the very obvious infestation of bugs. Please save your money and do not stay here. Lamp liter inn used to be a visalia gem but under recent new ownership within the last few years, the inn has gone downhill. This inn should be shut down and the manager should lose his job. Extremely unprofessional and so disappointing.

Despite its outdated rooms, I would actually recommend this hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the layout of the room I like most coz it has a room for privacy (atleast the room I was in). It has this bit of space or entryway to the shower room that's covering the rest of the room. I also like the beautiful landscapes of their garden and pool outside. Whoever their gardener is, is doing a great job! Overall, me and our group was satisfied with our stay. Fantastic for one or two nights stay. The location was fairly quiet at night and about 5mins drive to places to eat.

The bathtub is cracked, stained. Absolutely disgusting

No hot water. No water pressure. Disgusting stained carpet. Stained sheets. Graffiti in room. I don't know how they can even rent this room to people. I would've never stayed here. Very run down and old. I was told they housed homeless here during COVID.

I guess you get what you pay for... Check in was fine the lobby was clean and the service was fine however when we got to the room there were cockroaches on the mini fridge!! I was not brave enough to open it to see if there were more. I went back the lobby and the receptionist did change our room however was extremely rude and didn't seem worried about the fact there were bugs in our room. We we're changed to a room upstairs and thankfully found no more bugs. However to room was old and and dirty again you get what you pay for I guess. I think the most irritating part is that we had to go get out room key re activated EVERY NIGHT!!! When we went to let the receptionist know she said she thought we only wanted the top floor room for one night. Why would I want to go back to the room with roaches in it? We thought the problem was solved but out of the 4 days we stayed here EVERY DAY we had to go to the lobby and re activate our key

Bloody fingerprints?

The staff was super friendly, attentive, and accommodating throughout our entire stay. They truly went above and beyond to make the experience memorable, even arranging beautiful flowers, roses, and a fruit platter as a special touch. It's those little details and thoughtful gestures that really make a hotel stand out. The restaurant on the top floor was amazing! I had breakfast there, and between the food, atmosphere, and excellent service, it was definitely one of the highlights of the stay. Another huge plus was the security. I felt very safe and comfortable throughout the property. The parking lot is gated, secured, and accessible only to hotel guests, which provides additional peace of mind. Overall, The Darling Hotel offers a fantastic combination of historic charm, beautiful accommodations, excellent dining, outstanding hospitality, and security. The staff genuinely made an effort to make our stay special, and it absolutely showed. Highly recommend this hotel, especially if you're looking for something unique and memorable!

The rooms are always clean, the Elderwood is an ice touch, and the vibe is always fun. During this trip, all was fine when what sounded like the HVAC system above our room started to knock. It's an old historic building so, things happen. The knocking though quickly turned into a roar. We contacted the front desk and this is where the true professionalism of the hotel crew, and particularly Maria, shined through. Maria quickly came upstairs, assessed the situation, triaged with other teams inside the hotel, and identified a solution within 20 minutes. Given the scope of the repair was unclear at the time, she moved us to another room and even upgraded us (even though she didn't have to!) for the inconvenience. Things happen, that's not an issue for us, it's how the team addresses them when they come up. The Darling team rose to the occasion with flying colors so seamlessly in this situation, especially Maria. So for us, just underscores a series of positive experiences at the hotel. This isn't an ultra luxury 5-star hotel, so don't come here expecting that. But it's a great place to stay in Visalia with a premium, boutique vibe, great restaurant, and clean well apportioned rooms. We will be back.

Extremely Disappointing- Would NOT Recommend!…read more I am extremely disappointed with our experience at the Holiday Inn. From the moment we arrived, the cleanliness and condition of this hotel were unacceptable. When we got to our room, the toilet was dirty. Both of my toddler daughters urgently needed to use the bathroom, so I had no choice but to clean it myself. I notified the front desk, and a housekeeper named Lina eventually showed up carrying nothing but a white towel. I honestly have no idea what she planned to do with just a towel, but by that point, I had already cleaned the toilet myself and refused the service. Things got even worse when we took our daughters to the pool. The water was GREEN! My girls immediately said, "Ew, why is the water green?" and "I don't want to go in there." As a parent, seeing a pool in that condition is absolutely unacceptable and concerning. The online pictures were misleading compared to what we actually encountered. We asked the front desk if the green water was normal. The employee admitted she hadn't even looked at the pool and told us someone had supposedly come to put chemicals in it. That was not reassuring whatsoever. Whether chemicals had been added or not, the pool looked disgusting, and we were certainly not going to let our children swim in it. At that point, we had enough. We immediately requested a refund and chose to leave rather than be offered another room or alternative. Thankfully, we received our money back, but the fact that we had to go through all of this in the first place is ridiculous. A dirty bathroom, a green pool, and a disappointing response from the staff are not what I expect when paying for a hotel stay. Traveling with young children is already enough work without having to clean a hotel toilet yourself or worry about whether a pool is safe for your kids. I am incredibly disappointed in this property. The experience was unacceptable from beginning to end, and I would not recommend this hotel to families or anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and relaxing stay. The pictures online certainly did not reflect the reality of our experience. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. (Although our stay was a few weeks ago, I still feel compelled to share our experience because I believe other guests deserve to know what we encountered before booking their own stay.)

We stayed 3 nights here for our hiking trip and the hotel looked nice on the outside. However, there were some things that could be changed 1. The elevator: It was very slow and we had to wait for a while to get to our floor. 2. Smells: There was weird smells coming from the hallways and the elevator. I also smelled weed in the lobby as well which was not pleasant. 3. Roach: YES! I saw a cockroach in my bathroom. It was a tiny one and I managed to kill it and flush it down but beware of them if you stay here. 4. Breakfast: Free breaksfast was nice but alot of my friends stomachs were not happy afterwards! Alot of their food is very mid and not the best quality. 5. Beds: The pillows were like bricks, my friend had a hard time sleeping on them. My other friends also faced stains on the bedsheets, making me question if I also slept on dirty sheets too. 6. Orange water: The lemon water in the lobby was solid. If there was one highlight, it would be that. 7. One water fountain: Finally, there was only ONE water fountain on floor three and not even on the bottom level. There wasnt even water in the free breakfast. I feel like that should be the bare minimum!

PROS -Self parking on the premises with cameras. -Near my event with restaurants nearby. -Reasonable price. -Free breakfast. CONS -Noise at night from the busy road. -Walls are paper thin. -I smelled Coffee at 6 AM! Why? -No blackout curtains. -Loud AC unit made random clicking sound. Overall, my stay was fine for one night. If I was to stay more than one night, I would ask for the a room in the back of the premises because I was woken up a couple of times by sirens and loud noise. I'm also a light sleeper. The room is spacious and had all the basic amenities, plus a microwave! Complimentary breakfast 6-9 AM daily with a good variety.
