This cafe has a fascinating location surrounded by the remains of a coal mine and associated industrial facilities which have been abandoned for some time but still look impressive. The cafe itself straddles a stream that was likely used for water power. They had pastry options and some diner style hot breakfast, but I wasn't blown away by these options and (correctly) anticipated that I might prefer my food options on the other side of the mountains. However, their drink selection was quite robust for a place in a pretty rural location. I ordered a coal dust which was a mix of white and dark chocolate; I was a bit miffed that the menu didn't make it clear that it was actually a coffee drink as it could just as well have been pure hot chocolate. However, the flavor combination was ultimately successful for me. Travelers should certainly consider stopping in this location to take a look around, and why not pick up a beverage? read more

This place os very unique place. The food, drinks, and atmospheres excellent. The staff is friendly and reflects their positive attitude in their interaction hit each other as well as there customers. I will be back next time I am in the area. Nice lunch, cool location, lots of drink options. I had the Miner's special grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. I also tried the cinnamon roll. Next time I'll try the Coal dust drink... sounded cool. We sure enjoyed our breakfast today - and my Fire in the Hole! Coffee was exactly what I needed. The owners of Lamp House have facilitated an environment that is warm, welcoming and feels like home. Incredible service and a wide drink selection was appreciated. One of the highlights from my trip to Benham,Ky. Found this gem from fellow yelpers. Was skeptical about a coffee shop in this small remote town. Stopped in after our Portal 31 mine tour. Ordered a latte with almond milk. Was a little worried they wouldn't have almond milk but they did. I could tell immediately when picking up the coffee cup it was too light. I handed the cup back to the young lady and she corrected the latte and was nice about it. They had cute moon pies and other breakfast items. Noticed a pay it forward bulletin. Cute shop nestled in the beautiful mountains. Stopped in twice while I was there. Highly recommended it. read more

My husband and I just finished a 6 mile hike in the freezing cold! (So worth it!) so we stopped by this cute little coffee shop. I loved the ambience with the string lights running through the trees and the warm, somewhat old fashioned ambience, if cracked barrel had a coffee shop, this would be it. Totally worth it! Not super expensive! And we got our hot coffee super quick! read more

I didn't expect to find A+ coffee in the middle of the mountains, but boy, am I glad I did! The service was super friendly, and I got to buy a bag of beans for only $10.95 (I usually pay between $15-$18 for quality beans). This is a must-visit for sure if you're passing through. read more

A truly wonderful and adorable coffee shop with a wonderful ambiance, delightful staff, and delicious menu. I visited Lamphouse coffee with a group of university students performing a service project in the area, and Lamphouse Coffee was not only able to keep up with the horde of hungry teenagers with merely two staff members, but the owners were also kind enough to take the time to talk to us about their story and mission. The coffee shop is incredibly cozy and has a truly welcoming and homey vibe. Their food and drink selection is truly incredible, and I was wildly impressed by the quality of everything they served. I ordered a cinnamon roll and scrambled eggs for breakfast, as well as a chai latte with almond milk. However, while the atmosphere and food were perfect, the true highlight of this spot was the incredible staff. Both owners are so amazingly kind and dedicated to not only serving great food and coffee, but also to providing a gathering space for their community and offering a place of refuge for people seeking love, guidance, and/or support. They are truly doing such a service to their community, and I cannot stress enough how impressed I am at their dedication to helping others. read more

Wow. What a hidden gem. Traveling over Black Mountain to experience the awesome ride. Stopped to grab a cup of coffee. The staff is super friendly. We had a Caramella Latte and wow was it good. I hear that the food is great also. Located in Lynch Kentucky across from Portal 31 the Coal Mine Museum Tour and the base of the Black Mountain. Little known fact: the road leading over Black Mountain has more turns and is said to be more challenging than the Tail of the Dragon. Come check it out. read more

Lamp House Coffee may be my favorite place to eat in Lynch. The inside is a cute little place, the walls are grayish white and there are some neat tables to eat at. Many decorations I will say. The outside is very green and there are neat signs all around the building. The food is amazing as well as the drinks. I had the RJ's Biscuits and Gravy and the Baldwin Boy's Biscuit with bacon and a fried egg as well as the coffee shake with whip cream and caramel drizzle on top. Both were an absolute 10/10, although it took some time to make it was worth the wait. read more

Great little cafe along the "dragon slayer". On a motorcycle ride and planned to stop at a diner for breakfast, but everywhere we tried was closed. Very happy to come across this gem next to the Dragon Center welcome Center in Lynch, KY. Plan to return again tomorrow. Coffee was good (bought a bag to take home), owners were friendly and helpful, and food was also good. There are a few breakfast choices. I had a breakfast sandwich which was prepared well.
