I drove 35 minutes for a 5 minute appointment. The appointment felt so rushed by Dr. Lam's PA. Every time I asked her a question, she would just repeat the same thing she said before as if I didn't hear the first time. My visit was exceptional. I went in concerned about a spot on my face. Dr. Lam quickly explained what it was and that there wasn't a concern. She also did a full body check and indicated there were no concerns (well with cancer, they were nice enough not to mention my weight!). Saw Dr Lam once then PA's every six months for two years. Concerns: Spots on back and nose. I explained to them that I had a basal cell carcinoma near my left eye years ago which required radiation treatments. Also, a family history of skin cancer. The PA's glanced at my nose and ignored my concerns. I finally made an appointment with a difference dermatologist because of this situation. After a biopsy of my nose, the pathology report came back positive for basal cell carcinoma, and I will require radiation treatments on my nose. This could have been taken care over the last two years by Dr Lam's office rather than ignoring my concerns. I would NEVER recommend anyone with genuine cancer concerns to see Dr Lam. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Weingarten for two enlarged, inflamed moles on my face. when I arrived, I was told I would be seen by a physician assistant not an MD. furthermore, I was told my appointment was to address hair loss which is a distant secondary concern compared to potential melanoma. the intake staff were condescending and really didn't seem to want to help me. they just didn't listen or care about me. I just finished a 4-minute appointment with Dr. Yaohan Lam to identify and prescribe for itchy spots on my scalp and face. She glanced at my face, glanced impatiently at one photo I showed her, and inspected my scalp for maybe 5 seconds. She then said I have seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp, which is plausible. What is NOT plausible is her diagnosis of what had been a 1.5 inch x 1 inch (roughly) red, very itchy spot on my forehead. This had faded nearly completely and was no longer itching due to treatment with a lotion prescribed by my GP. She claimed this spot is solar lentigo--an "age spot" (she did not explain "solar lentigo;" I had to look it up after leaving her office. Guess what? Solar lentigo is NOT itchy at all, and they apparently are not as large as my itchy spot. I have these spots on my hands and arms; they are quite small, generally less than 1/4 inch in diameter. She prescribed a "yeast shampoo" with an active ingredient of ketaconazole for my scalp. I asked her what the ingredients are, explaining that I'm allergic to soy and fragrances, and many shampoos are made with both. She told me the active ingredient again, then blew me off by telling me I needed to think of it as a scalp treatment, not a shampoo. Um--what good would it be as a scalp treatment if I'm allergic to it? The print-out of the visit stated twice (once for scalp, once for face): "I counseled the patient regarding the following" followed each time by a list. However, in fact, most of the items in the list were never mentioned at all. I was given almost no opportunity for additional questions after asking about the shampoo, so I was unable to learn what a "solar lentigo" is until I got to my car and looked it up. I spent more time with her "technician" than I did with the doctor herself, and the entire visit lasted less than 15 minutes. Only 4 of the 13 minutes total were with the doctor. I do NOT recommend this doctor. read more

Did not receive a warm welcome at this practice. It was almost as if my family and I were receiving attitude for patronizing this clinic from the moment we stepped in. First, be prepared for their requirement to document your credit/debit card on paper and to leave it in your chart to be later accessed by anyone who works there. My family and I have private insurance that covers our visits at 100% so I didn't feel comfortable doing this, yet, providing a private method of payment was still required to be seen. Okay, fine. Done. But I don't know what kind of deposit they tried charging to my credit card (without my consent, by the way) but it must've been HUGE (like over $5,000) because, according to them, my credit card declined. Either they tried charging a huge debit or they put in the wrong numbers (the receptionist had the audacity to ask for my cell phone so she could type in the card numbers taken from the app on my cell phone). Regardless, they put a pink sticky note on my chart that read, "Declined," and gave it to Dr. Lam prior to the exam. I didn't know this until after the exams for my family. But it explains why she was so dismissive and short during our exams. No one in my family felt heard and every one of us felt repeatedly dismissed. We didn't even have an opportunity to go over all our skin concerns, because she dismissed every concern that was mentioned. Dr. Lam could've written prescriptions for at least one skin concern for each of us but, again, she dismissed them all. As a licensed aesthetician, I noticed Dr. Lam had a section of her office with aesthetic skincare products. These are products insurance will not cover! (I know. These kinds of products are my expertise.) It then made sense that she wouldn't write prescriptions for any of our skin concerns (that insurance may have covered), because prescriptions do not make her money; selling skincare products out of her office does! And, because she thought my credit card declined, she didn't bother to even suggest anything to us--other than to give us samples of over-the-counter products that they receive for free (and I already have at home). We didn't come for OTC products; that's what Target and Walmart are for. We came to be screened for skin cancers, to be thoroughly examined, receive prescription treatment, if appropriate, and be treated with respect in the process, none of which we received. Dr. Lam did not even touch us, not once. My time is valuable, as everyone's time is. I moved mountains for this appointment to happen for myself and my entire family. Now, I've got to do this all over again with a dermatologist who actually wants to help people, rather than dismiss them because you presume they can't afford your ancillary products. (Speaking of, your Obagi products sitting on your shelves are TERRIBLE. But my family's experience is independent of my opinion for the products you carry.) Dr. Lam, you should treat people better. We will never return and, again, as an aesthetician, I will steer my skincare clients to a different dermatologist. read more

I first saw Ivy six weeks ago for chin acne I've had for probably over ten years. I wish I had visited a dermatologist sooner. Ivy has already gotten my breakouts to stop and I feel a lot better about my face. She is very down to earth and easy to talk to and listens very well. No office visit is billed the same. Insurance fraud x 100!! Sometimes your bill is $80, sometimes it's $300, for the same visit/exam. Adrian Lam has horrible patient relations, and many insurance companies have received complaints.Both OKC and Norman offices have staff who obviously hate their work. I feel sorry for them. They seem beaten down by Dr. Lam. So sad. Biggest issue, again, is their fraudulent billing to Medicare and private insurance. They billed insurance (American taxpayers) twice the the allowable amount. Seems like thievery. read more

I'll keep this short. She is very dismissive and curt. My son had a skin issue and she gave me the medical term for it. I swear it had about 7 syllables. I asked if she could write the name of it down because I'd forget it when I told my husband what was wrong with our son. She told me, "no, you can get the portal information from the ladies up front. Sign up there and you will see the name and more information about it." Really?? When she was asking questions about the medical issue, I kept answering them. Then she asked my child how long the rash was present.... The boy is 6! She would just talk over me as if I didn't know what was going on with my own child. However, get staff was completely lovely! I have several grievances about this office but my biggest complaint is their billing office. For some reason they charged my card on file over $400 when the minimum payment due was only $35. To this day, months later, I never got an explanation as to why this happened or how it would be prevented in the future. Most recently I was told that this office accepted Care Credit (and they are listed as a provider on the Care Credit website) and that I would just have to go in person to make the payment arrangements. After completely rearranging my day and driving 15 minutes out of my way, waiting 10 minutes in the lobby for the office lead to be available, I was informed they don't accept care credit and the billing office was incorrect. There is zero communication between the billing office and the office staff. Although the staff is friendly, it is clear they are focused on getting money and not actually helping their patients. At least that's what I gathered from my several experiences here. The PA I saw seemed very uneducated when I asked her questions pertaining to my allergy testing and I was not confident with the answers she gave me as I left the clinic. I feel that I received more knowledge from my Google searches than I did the appointments I paid several hundred dollars for. I wish I would have saved myself the time and headache of going to this clinic by reading other Yelp and Google reviews prior to my first appointment. I only went to this practice because I was referred by an Urgent Care (which I will also never be visiting again). Overall, I would give this dermatologist office negative stars if I had the option. Do not waste your time or money. The billing office is a nightmare and you will end up being ripped off. read more

The first time I went to Dr. Lam was for my persistent acne and I honestly felt like a number to her; my appointments would be at most ten minutes total including waiting and felt like I was rushed out every time. Dr. Lam was very condescending to me when I would ask about different treatments and I would always feel uncomfortable asking questions. Halfway through my treatment, I switched to Ivy, the PA, and for her alone is the only reason why my review is 3 stars instead of 1. Ivy talked to me about the underlying causes of my acne and broke down the different options that she felt would be best versus Dr. Lam who was just going to put me back on Accutane (which was the most expensive and time-intensive option). I would only recommend going if you specifically ask to see Ivy and Ivy alone. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Dr. lam spent a total of 5 minutes at most with my daughter. She barely even looked at the sores on her face. She said it was acne even though I told her that the pediatrician sent us for other reasons. She did not listen and just said to wash her face twice a day. We have been making her do that for over 6 months before we saw her. This place doesn't seem to care about helping people at all. Just pay your copay and get out seems to be their motto. read more

So I must give credit where credit is due! I came in to this office less than a week ago to deal with some pretty intense stress ecsema on both of my hands. I had let it go waaaay too long and it had gotten pretty painful. These wonderful ladies where extremely polite when I called to schedule and welcomed me warmly for my appointment. I was seen immediately and greeted by two incredibly kind and efficient women (I'm so sorry your names are escaping me!) Who took care of me quickly. I was prescribed a steroid cream and sent with samples to get me by in the mean time. As you can see, there is an IMMENSE difference in my hands! I am engaged and it was embarrassing for me to show off my ring because of my skin. I am now proud to show it off again and so thrilled with how quickly they healed. Thank you all!! read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a dermatologist. I had my appointment & expressed my concerns. The doctor spent less then five minutes with me to address my issues. Then she prescribed me two medication which I used for one week & my situation was made worse. I ended up with intense burning, itching, & red spots all over my face. I contact the office & spoke only to the nurse who informed me that they were not sure which med cause the issue, provided me some samples of a healing orientment & advised me to start back using the same meds that cause this once the symptoms went away. I am on my second week of recovery & still not back to normal. read more

I am new to the area and found this doctor without much research which was entirely my fault. I have only had bad experiences when I go here. I started going to Dr. Lam for acne. During our first meeting, she suggested Accutane which is a very harsh and expensive drug without trying anything else which I would have preferred. When asked for an alternative, she simply said there was none. This was all within a less than 5 minute appointment. I ended up agreeing to the treatment. This means I have to have monthly appointments to check on my progress. This has been the worst and if i could switch doctors during this process I would. The people working the the front desk are routinely rude and talk about really inappropriate topics while I have to sit and listening (I lived in the dorms during college, not much makes me uncomfortable but that did). When you actually see Dr. Lam, you will see her for less than 3 minutes. She will ask you how its going, if you tell her any concerns she will dismiss then without resolution and then walk out. If you want a doctor that cares and is nice, I suggest finding another dermatologist. The running of the office is also poor. It once took then a week to get a prescription to the pharmacy and that was with me calling everyday to see what the holdup was. The excuses I got were honestly laughable. If you want to pay $100s to listen to what the people at the front desk did last night, see a doctor for 3 minutes and then wait a week to get your medicine then this is the place for you!!! read more

I have seen Dr. Lam twice. The first visit, I was very rushed and was given very unclear advice for the issues that I had come to see her about. About two years later while back in town, I needed to see a dermatologist and none on my insurance were accepting new patients in the area. So, I had essentially no other option but to return. I was hoping that things would be less rushed since I was the only patient in the waiting room and was immediately taken to a private room.. boy was I wrong. I was rushed just as the first time, was given unclear and inconsistent answers to my questions yet again, was quoted the most drastic $$ number for a mole removal that my mouth literally dropped, and never once received a smile from Dr. Lam. She was very unwelcoming and the farthest thing from warm that I have ever experienced with a doctor. I had told both the nurse and the woman who booked my appointment weeks before that I needed to talk with Dr. Lam about two very specific issues: a mole I was concerned about and acne. She tried to book me an appointment and leave the room before even assessing my second issue that I was there for... I had to remind her!!!! I She was standing three feet away from me and said "Well, your skin looks good to me. Just keep doing what you are doing." I was speechless... I had to actually tell her to come closer and look at my face. She then marketed me the one product (epiduo) that her practice has a deal with. She had no other options or recommendations for me. Once again, speechless. Such a sad thing that our country's health care system is a business that literally feeds off the health problems of its citizens. Paying my $20 copay after this visit made me feel like I had been robbed. In sum, do not waste your time or money visiting Dr. Lam. Perhaps she is a nice person... I do not know because all I received from her were cold vibes and the sense that she wanted me in and out as fast as possible if I were not going to be having an expensive procedure done. I should not have returned, but I felt the need to leave this review. Also, the girls who work for her were gossiping and giggling instead of helping me check out. Bad experience with time and appointment. My appointment was for new patient and at 9:30. Because there was traffic on the way that I came to Dr. Lam's office, I can't get there early 15 minutes early but I didn't come late. I got to Dr. Lam's office at 9:27 that earlier than my appointment then the receptionist told me that they have to rescheduled my appointment because I didn't come 15 minutes early to do my paper work. This was ridiculous. When I was over phone making appointment with the receptionist, she told me that I have to go to their website to print the paper work to fill it out and bring to office. I told her that I don't have a printer at home, and she told me that I can fill out paper work at their office. Per their Cancelllations and Late Policy below that posted on their website, they only rescheduled appointment if patient came 15 minutes late of their appointment time. I have to drive from Edmond to Moore city, and they reschedule my appointment because I can't come early 15 minutes even I got there earlier than my appointment time. Cancellations & Late Policy If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask that you call our office at least 24 hours in advance. In the event that you are running late, please call our office. Great location and did not take too long to get an appointment as a new patient. The offices were nice and the staff were courteous and helpful. I like that Dr. Lam and her assistant spoke to my son and shared options with him and supported him in making an informed decision about treatment options. I was hesitant to make an appointment here initially because it seemed as if they do quite a bit of cosmetic stuff and was concerned it might not he a good place for standard dermatology - but that was not the case.
