My wife dropped in to pick up some sandwiches for our Lenten lunch. She ordered Everything Bagels and their Lox and Cream Cheese. The sandwiches had soo much salmon it was amazing! Mix in the onions, capers, and this is the best lox and bagel we have had. She also at my request, came home with a box of kolackies which are freshly made and my favorite. The food is made fresh, the counter service was reported as fast, and the ambiance is "bakery fresh". What more could you ask for? You'll find this on the road to the DeKalb Airport entrance. If you find yourself in the area, Lala's is an amazing little bakery worth a stop. The sourdough bagels are incredible- I very much enjoyed the breakfast egg and cheese on Asiago. They may sell out of the popular bagels early, but you can order online or call in ahead. They are so nice and ready to help you with any question you might have. Now this place offers breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, and super super yummy fresh baked goods. The bagels are fire! The pastries are out of this world good. The lunch sandwiches are made with boarshead products and let me tell you. Do Not Sleep on this!!! Get a lunch sandwich on any bagel they offer. Mind you fresh made bagels in house! If your sitting at home hurry up and grab your keys and go go go! The are only ope. Tuesday-Saturday 7am-2pm. I promise you you will be amazed at the quality. I picked up a cinnamon pecan coffee cake for Christmas at Hyvee and noticed it was from LaLa's Sweets Bakery in DeKalb. I try to support local businesses so decided to give it a try. It was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be visiting the location on Pleasant St. to try more items. I was finally able to pop into this place today. I am so glad that I stopped! I grabbed a Lox and schmear bagel sandwich and based on a recommendation I chose the everything bagel for it, and it was fantastic. They also had some massive cinnamon rolls and I took two of them to share with my family. One easily feeds two people so we'll have some leftovers that will be great with coffee in the morning. These guys are so polite and so kind and the stuff is so tasty, if you haven't made your way over to visit you owe it to yourself to stop by. They're not open all day so make sure that you schedule accordingly, but you will be very happy that you do I am sure of it. read more

Delicious pastries and friendly owners! We tried almost all of their pastries. The Bismarck donut is amazing. All the fruit pastries are wonderful, with the family really enjoying the Bismarck pastry. Wish I bought more. I personally enjoyed the apple pastry. Best bakery in the DeKalb area! read more

The only place I know of in town to get fresh perogis! The bakery goods are great and the sandwiches are really good too. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that their hours are a bit limited. I believe they normally close by three. But a great little place to get good food. read more

They used to make almond claws. Loved them. Apparently almond isn't a favorite flavor and so it isn't on the regular menu. Went in there about a month ago and asked for something almond. Their baker was able to create 12 almond regular pastries for me. Since I wasn't going to snarf them all down at once, they were kind enough to wrap them individually so I could freeze them. This morning my husband and I enjoyed the almond deliciousness created by the Neighborhood Bakery. The flavor was enhanced by the kindness. Love, love, love. read more
