The food was excellent. Be careful as some items are huge. The patacones sandwich will feed 2 people and not lightly.

The restaurant has been open about four years, but the recipes go back much further. The family's original sister restaurant in Argentina dates back to 1987, and the food absolutely feels rooted in tradition and authenticity. This was actually my first experience trying Argentinian food. From the Milanesas section of the menu, I ordered the Napolitana, topped with tomato sauce, ham, and cheese. I later learned it's supposedly soccer legend Lionel Messi's favorite dish. To me, it reminded me a bit of a deep-fried German schnitzel, in the best possible way. It came with delicious fries that disappeared quickly. My wife absolutely loved the freshly made empanadas. One detail we thought was clever: each empanada is stamped with a number identifying the filling, which makes ordering and sharing much easier. The surprise star of the meal was the Rogel cake for dessert. Thin, flaky layers packed with dulce de leche and topped with toasted meringue/ rich, crunchy, sweet and absolutely unforgettable Another fun surprise was the robot that delivers the food from the kitchen before the server brings it to your table. A small touch, but memorable. The pricing is incredibly reasonable, especially considering how authentic and satisfying the food is. Definitely a hidden gem in Kansas City if you're looking to try something different.

El Rincon Latino Restaurant is one of the many Latin owned and operated restaurants near Grandview in Kansas City Missouri however, what makes this strip mall standby standout is the emphasis on El Salvadorian cuisine instead of the traditional Mexican or Tex-Mex offerings. Also, bonus points for them being opened early in the morning to feed those traditional A.M. working commuters though, me personally, I have never tried their breakfast offerings. The morning menu seems to consist of some hearty South American staples such as Huevos Rancheros and a breakfast burrito as well as a meal that includes 2 sweet corn tamales and a cup of coffee. The national dish of El Salvador is the papusa and El Rincon has many varieties of these on their menu, most are also vegetarian. My ultimate favorite is the one with zucchini and cheese filling but, if you are trying to be the most authentic with your filling choice then the cheese and loroco, a traditional vegetable grown in El Salvador, Guatemala, and other central American countries, would be the correct choice. The loroco is described as a mixture of artichoke and asparagus with a slight floral essence. I would describe the texture of the papusa itself as close to that of an arepa but without the presence of corn-meal or masa, the dough itself is closer to a thicker flour tortilla, sort of..maybe. Well, anyway that you try to describe these griddled UFO-looking stuffed El Salvadorian goodies isn't going to be as good as a just eating one! (Or two, or three, especially with a price just below $3 a piece they are definitely worth trying a few) Also, do not skip out on the accoutrements that come with the papusas, there is a very thin watery slightly spicy tomato based sauce (perhaps a salsa of sorts) and an amazing pickled vegetable slaw condiment that takes any of the papusas up a notch, I'm assuming these are traditional accompaniments you'd find in El Salvador when ordering this type of street food. But don't count out El Rincon for other unique South of the Border street food as well such as, sopes, gorditas, tostadas (barbacoa one is excellent) as well as great prices on street tacos- under $2 daily?! Heck to the Yes!
