I have been taking classes here for almost a year and highly recommend it for people of any skill level. The instructors encourage you to challenge yourself while also respecting your body's limits. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming, while also being quiet and peaceful. Attending the classes regularly has helped me build a lot of strength and flexibility. I have been doing yoga here for about 1 year now. I could not recommend this place more. I have taken mostly classes with Vidal, some with Rachel, and a few with Tammy. All are so wonderful! Vidal brings great energy to class with a clear display of many years of experience. Having a true martial artist teaching class allows me to put my trust in him and my practice. Rachel has a very calm demeanor with clear and helpful cues, and Tammy displays her warm heart when both teaching and practicing. My first hot yoga class with Vidal was in 2006. Since then, I have practiced at a lot of studios and had the opportunity to have a wide range of experiences at them. When paying for products & services, the most important part is that you get what you came there for. For example, if a restaurant has great ambiance, good parking, and is reasonably priced - you wouldn't go if the food wasn't good. So, the core of a yoga studio is the teacher. Vidal is simply the best. He's the real deal. A true warrior of compassion with a lifetime of training in yoga, martial arts and many other things that make him the gem that he is (including that he's a culinary master :b). His way of leading the class and the environment he has created at Lakeview Yoga is the reason a person would go to a class/studio instead of practicing at home. One of my favorite parts about being there, is he gently holds in place the delicate etiquette of a studio. No, talking in the yoga room makes for a true meditation space. Where can you even go to let your mind unplug, recharge, not have to react to anything? Vidal's class. Show up, get on the mat, focus on your own gentle gaze, and let him guide you through ninety minutes of mind and body altering breathing and movement. I live in Puyallup these days, so the trek to Kenmore to get this experience takes something. I make the journey when my schedule allows and I am never, ever disappointed. p.s. If you can hear yourself in the yoga room, you're too loud. That means, entering, laying out your mat, moving through your practice or leaving the room. Being as quiet as possible in the room is a gift to the other folks that have paid to be there and need the time to recharge, too. The exception is some of the breathing exercises which are meant to be loud. There is nothing quite like a room full of people moving together in silence. And wait for the cues from your instructor. Stay with his voice and let him drive. He's a great driver, too, but that's a story for another day. Get on the mat at Vidal's if you can - because it's like gold there. If you can't make it there just get to any hot studio you can. The training will be there for you. Three times a week and your entire life will be unrecognizable. You can take that to the bank. I haven't loved a yoga studio this much in ages. The hot, the power, the fusion.. literally every class builds on the others. Vidal has taught me so much about form, positioning, how to balance and do things properly to really see improvement. I am a first time yoga practitioner so my review is coming from someone who has no prior experience other than what has been introduced to me at this studio. For years my little sister has been encouraging me to add yoga to my exercise routine as I consider physical fitness an important aspect of my life. Since I didn't know anything about yoga (my sister didn't go into much detail other than sharing that it was both physically challenging and a great stress reliever) I put off trying any classes so when a friend and collegue described the benefits of yoga and the classes she was teaching, I took this revelation as a chance to try it for myself. Lets just say its been about three weeks and I am working my way into making this part of my daily routine to keep my body and mind physically and mentally sharp! Now for the actual review: I've only tried Bikram "Hot" yoga classes and I absolutely love them! Vidal and Joyce have been wonderful teachers...they both have different styles of conducting the classes and each has their advantages. I appreciate their patience, encouragement and instruction as I learn and do the different poses and each time I come back, I feel like I learn more about myself and gain strength and flexibility each time I attend. I am looking forward to trying one of the Power classes and meeting the other teachers. I will definately add a second review once I try the classes. Now for the facility and location itself...if you live in the Bothell/Kenmore area, LakeView is really easy to find. Parking can be tricky but keep in mind there are spaces to the left and right of the building. The studio itself offers great views of the north shores of Lake Washington...and in the afternoons offers a great view of the sunset (at least this fall). The clean hardwood floors offers a nice warm oasis while you do the Savasana pose during each set. I look forward to my yoga sessions and am extremely happy that I've been lucky enough to find LakeView on my first try. I'll admit, I'm a bit of a yoga snob and have spent the last 10 years practicing in "boutique" studios around the city. I like a vigorous and challenging class. For me, my yoga practice is both my workout for the day and also necessary meditation to release from work. When I moved to Kenmore last year, I was heartbroken to leave my home studio in Ballard. Fear not, I found LakeView Yoga! Vidal is a fantastic instructor who challenges his students who want to push and supports learners and newcomers in building a strong foundation. The studio is a needed change from the franchised yoga across the city and welcomes a diverse crowd in body type, experience level, age and race. Classes are a wonderful mix of meditation (yes, there are gongs and bells and I love it!) and strength (every power class has a few minutes of "play time" for inversions and other challenging poses). I've been practicing yoga for roughly ten years, and this is one of my favorite studios. Here is why: 1) Vidal (the owner) is a long time practitioner. He teaches a great class and selects other authentic, inspired instructors. 2) There is a good mix of power vinyasa and bikram style. 3) The heat is well controlled. I started yoga classes about three months ago, and have been thoroughly enjoying them. I had no yoga experience before this, but Vidal has been a wonderful teacher and coach. Always engaging, always encouraging, and often humorous. :) He is very good at challenging yoga students of all levels. I have only been able to attend classes once a week, but still found much improvement in the balance of my body, mind, heart, and spirit that I was searching for. This place offers a variety of yoga in a great studio that overlooks the water where you can watch planes take on and off. Owner is super friendly and has lots of plans for making the studio even better. All instructors seem to be very good at yoga. The owner has created a downstairs area that is a relaxation station where yogis can have their tea after their class. This studio doesn't always follow the bikram style but it is a great place to get yoga done, especially if you get tired of doing the same 26 poses over and over again. I love the classes here. Parking lot can be a little tricky. Hardwood floors are also nice and the studio is not smelly like some. read more

First off, after months of procrastinating I finally decided to come to this studio.... surprise! No more lake, no more view. They moved. Fine, it's closer to my house. However, it was one of the worst yoga classes I have ever experienced. I went to their new yin yoga... thumbs down. The teacher spent the whole time looking at her phone, except to tell us to stay in x position for x minutes and then remind us there were x seconds left. No music... wait.... there was some for 5 minutes but they never bothered to turn it on again or fix it. Later on in the class, even when she saw me-- if she saw me-- struggling on a pose, she didn't offer any advice, or blocks or anything. She hardly spoke except to say what pose to do. No coaching, no motivation. The "spiritual" side of yoga, totally absent. We were only two people in the class. Then she turned on the heat, which I love because it helps you stretch, but the heat was blowing straight on my face.... very uneven heat in the room. Maybe if they warm it up in advance for a class it will work, but as it was, I hated it. I have to say the new place is not bad and since I am owed a second free class, I will come again, making sure I get Vidal as the teacher. Maybe then I will come back and change my review. read more

This was my first "hot yoga" experience and I am very happy I chose LakeView Yoga. Vidal makes you feel like family. I was afraid (fear not!) the heat would be too much as I normally don't fare well in high temperatures. I was fine! In fact, I got through my first 90 minute class without incident. I've been coming here about a year now and this is my favorite hot yoga studio BY FAR! For me, for whatever reason, the heat doesn't feel oppressive when there are floor to ceiling windows and a lovely view. The whole place is just delightful, and has helped me immensely with my love and understanding of yoga. Vidal seems to teach the majority of the classes, which is great because he's a savvy and kind instructor. He's like a big brother, and makes everyone feel included and like part of the studio family. The other instructors are awesome too, and each has their own very individual style and personality. They are all very patient and not pushy or scary like at so many hot yoga studios. Also there's a juice bar - yum! The studio is beautiful, relaxing, clean and very welcoming. I can't say enough about this studio and why I would recommend it as a first time or as a long time yogi :) First of all, I spent many many months trying to find the right studio for me. I bought every Groupon and Living Social deal out there and visited no less than 15 yoga studios in Seattle. This is by far my favorite. Vidal (the owner) is the best yoga instructor I've ever had. Not only does he TEACH the postures to your level, he helps you understand yoga as a practice on a much deeper and esoteric level. I love their mantra "Yoga practice not yoga perfect". There are all levels in every class from the very advanced to the total beginner. All instructors (and they are all great) encourage class to channel their energies to create a strong and vibrant and thoughtful atmosphere. The space is clean, the heat is perfect, the view is amazing (last night we watched the sun set on the water as we did our poses) and the energy postiive and encouraging. Vidal has worked very hard to make Lakeview a place where people come together to do something that they love that will make them feel and look better inside and out :) Lakeview is the best :) read more

I had my first hot yoga class at Lakeview Yoga yesterday. I arrived late after stopping at their old address first...and they were so welcoming and helpful. They quickly supplied me with a mat, a towel, a chilled bottle of water. I was encouraged kindly, asked if it was my first time ever, and felt thoroughly taken care of. I signed up for 2 months of unlimited yoga for only $125 (a special they are offering right now, a fantastic deal). They environment was elegant, peaceful. They had full showers in a small locker room, lockers, all the necessities for showering after class (although I did not do this). I noticed there were doors clearly labeled for massage therapies and other healing modalities, down the hall to the yoga studio. The studio itself is painted with gorgeous, simple designs of water and nature, the light subdued and gentle. I look forward to another class today! read more

My first hot yoga class was at LakeView Yoga and it remains the best studio I've been to. Very clean and calming facility that helps me get into the right mindset the moment I walk in the door. The instructors were friendly and knowledgeable and I loved how they would come over and help correct your posture when needed and provided us extra time during the session to do additional postures. I have a regular practice when home and also teach a weekly class. I travel frequently and find a studio wherever I am. I have never felt unwelcome at a yoga studio. I'm in Kenmore for a month and thought this would be a convenient place to practice because of its proximity to where I'm staying. When I signed up I explained that I was tending to some injured areas and practicing with great care. Every class Vidal made a passive-aggressive remark to me after or during class saying 'our styles are really different,' 'you really tired out fast,' and once in class he asked me to stop doing what I was doing and join the class - I was lying on my stomach with my knees bent to align my lumbar vertebrae. Knowing I'd be moving slowly and modifying things, I positioned myself every class in the back corner behind a big square pillar outside of the mirror's view for most. Tonight before class Vidal had prepared a speech for me that our styles are too different and I'm not welcome in his studio. We had a spat in the lobby and outside the studio and what became very clear is a fundamental difference in perspective: he feels that it's his studio, he makes the rules, if you don't like 'em get out. I feel that I ought to have the room to honor my body (and in the most discreet way possible) - not to mention, I am the client. I do not believe yoga ought to be homogenized. In my class there are always people ramping up postures or modifying them, and sometimes someone goes rogue, usually to be still or work out something in their body. I celebrate it. This is not how Vidal feels and that's his right, but what he is teaching is yoga. Instead of turning me away he could have taught drishti. Or detachment. Or expectations. Or ANYTHING. He couldn't detach himself from my practice for one week more - maximum three classes. read more
