Gorgeous place for sunset viewing! We were there in the winter & at the very end of the sunset but still very pretty location & beach. Packed during sunset hours hard to find parking at times. I also like that it has very well lit entrances to the beach & along the sidewalks. read more

A good park along Lake Erie with a beach. It isn't the nicest park but it's still clean. Lakeview Park has some pretty nice views. Being right next to the lake it can get lots of people hanging out. There's plenty of space other than the beach including many picnic tables. Beach is the best part about it. It has some clean sand. This is an ugly brown color of course but it's not littered though. If you aren't here for the beach, there's other parts of the park that are good. There's a lot of grassy areas with hang out spots. Plenty of picnic tables for the family. This also is a nice place for pets. It has some okay bathrooms. Maybe they smell a bit. They keep them clean though. read more

I grew up near this beach and have been coming here as long as I remember. It's a perfect spot to watch the sunset. The rose gardens and fountain are also great. I haven't swam here since I was a wee one but I do see a lot of people in the water when I go. I love just bringing a towel and hanging out listening to the sounds of the lake. read more

A park with a super amazing view of the lake that has a good sized beach you soo know I'm all about that and I totally found it here! Coming here I was like it's just another park on the lake but besides that I found one of the prettiest fountains I have seen in sooo long as it kept drawing me closer to it with it's majestic colors I became more all for it as I just started to love it more and more even with the wind slashing it's fountain water on me the colors of the fountain just kept becoming more and more mystifying the more I looked into it I became soo much in a trance with it that my friend had to drag me away from it's powers so that I could get back to reality just one more time! Yes needless to say it's all about the fountain so go visit if not for just the beach but the fountain too it's totally worth it! Beautiful park and lakefront location. I came for the rose garden and it did not disappoint. Lots of variety to view. You could easily spend 20 - 30 minutes here, more if you want to take photos. There are a few other "attractions" within walking distance, such as a large Easter basket, anchor, and a water fountain. Parking is close to everything, it was 500 feet from the rose garden, and the same if you want to head to the beach. Not as busy as edge water park in Cleveland, so a good alternative. read more

This is by far my favorite beach in Ohio. If you are looking for the perfect staycation beach getaway look no further...Lorain has what you are looking for. If you would have told me go to Lorain, I would have asked why, what for. We stumbled upon this beach last year and had NO idea it existed. We had a few days off this week and jumped at the chance to come here. They have concessions, clean restrooms, plenty of play areas for kids and a phenomenal rose garden, the beach is clean and meticulously maintained. We packed a picnic basket, threw in a few treats, sunscreen and blankets...now to even out my farmers tan! read more

First and foremost: On my way down Lake Rd going to here, I love going over the bridge to see the water on either side, and then passing through that little downtown area (even though it seems like a ghost town and seemingly unsafe). I feel like if everyone had good thoughts instead of evil ones, this could be a great area to go to more often. Secondly: The beach - it's probably my second favorite outside of Edgewater. It has great views, especially the sunsets. Be careful of the seagulls though; I feel like they want to attack us humans. Thirdly: I'm not really sure what the indoor area is - it always looks like it is closed when I go here, but appears to be a food place. If you can sit down and eat there, that seems like a pretty solid spot to go. read more

Follows social distancing: YES This is a beautiful park. It is huge with wide open spaces across the street from a beach on Lake Erie. Restroom. Tables all around the park. We had lunch at a picnic table that was under shade. Only 2 tables in this location. I noticed them all around the park. Everything here is spaced out. Even with the number of people parked here it was easy to keep a distance. This is great place to visit during COVID times. read more

My favorite beach ! Clean, great views, lots of room to distance yourself. There is a snack bar bathrooms and place to shower off. I also love to watch the Purple Martins who nest nearby and the beautiful, fragrant rose garden along with the fountain there . I travel an hour from home to get to this beach I make a day of it . Lots! Of! Stairs! Not a very accessible park if you're concerned with that, but the stairs are a beautiful place to watch the sunset, even if it's quite the hike to get there. Great photo ops and a chill atmosphere thanks to the neighborhood. read more

We love Lakeview Park! The beach and the views make it a place we come several times a week. Sometimes we bring chairs and sit in the grass back in the shade and sometimes we sit right on the beach. The sunsets are usually beautiful and many people come to enjoy them. There is also the rose garden which is very nice to wander through. read more

Lakeview Park is by far my favorite place to go in the city of Lorain. The Lorain County Metroparks has done an amazing job taking care of this beautiful place and should be commended for bringing a little piece of heaven back into an otherwise bleak city. This lake side park is fabulous since the Lorain County MetroParks has taken over. I take my mother there often to roam the massive rose garden, she enjoys reading the history behind it every time. It was a nice night to watch the sunset tonight, not too hot or cold. The lunch spot that serves is a nice addition, make sure to check for their hours, which vary. They have a huge, clean beach with life guards. The have have bocce ball courts which was adorable to watch the older gentlemen play on. read more

It was nice. No dog beach available like Google said there was. had to leave my teens at beach and travel the city to find stuff for me and my pup to do! City Park was a lifesaver with their open fields and SPLASH PAD my dog loved!! Only 1mile from where my kids were! Then went down to Long Mile Pier. Right off the lake. Again walked the rough waters and sand with my puppy! Turned our to be a great day! read more

Huge sand beach. The water was clear at the shore that you could see the stones / shells under water at the shoreline. Nice playground area too. If you closed your eyes and listened to the small waves you could almost forget you were in Ohio. read more

I used to go there as a kid and now when we go back to visit I take my kids. They love to spend hours in the water and playing in the sand. The beach is pretty active. Apparently we had just missed a volleyball tournament, but we did see nets being set up in the evenings. The rest of the park is well kept as well. The only thing I don't like is the new snack concession operator that took over in March. They took out the soft-serve ice cream machine and now only sell a few snacks and frozen treats. This was a big disappointment for the kids. The old operator offered a variet of flavors and sizes of cones that the kids loved. So, the park gets 5, but the snack operator gets 1. read more

Awesome place for family fun, we stopped by after finding the park on Yelp. We were on a road trip from NY to Chicago, with kids. The beach was clean and combed. The playground equipment kept them busy while the water was clean and refreshing. read more

This place is one of northern Ohio's best kept secrets. This beach is quiet, clean, and beautiful! The sand is clean and so is the water. Before you go down the steps to the beach, you'll see there is a HUGE rose garden in front. Take some time and smell the roses, literally! They have all kinds of roses and colors for you to enjoy. Going down the stairs to the beach, you'll see it's not crowded at all. Lots of space to spread out. There is even a building that houses a concession stand. They also have a lifeguard on duty to help with watching the swimmers. One of my favorite beaches ever. read more

Very nice park and beach location. Only issues were the bathroom (at least the one I used) looked like a bomb was set off and made me leery of using it. Unfortunately the water was very cold so you really couldn't stand to go up past your upper thighs. but still refreshing to dip in after being in the sun for a while. the cafe was open but we didn't use it. The concession stand never opened but I am assuming that is because it's still early in the season. Otherwise, great location and very well maintained. read more

I love this place. I have gone here for 30+ years (my entire life) and that has always been the case. It's great for both kids and adults and I highly recommend it. The water in Lake Erie isn't the cleanest, however, and it is not always safe to swim in. In those cases, signs are posted warning people of that fact. Besides swimming, there are other things to do, and just taking in the view is enough for me (and lots of others). I love this park. It has left fond memories for me to keep from my childhood as well as my adulthood. read more
