Tom helped answer a lot of questions we had about gear for a long bike race that we have coming up. He was super knowledgeable and helpful I looking for different sized items. They've never made me feel odd for doing so. Just started using them as my go-to shop also. Hayden is super personable and walks me through every step. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the experiences I've had at Hyland and would hyly recommend.

Once the order was placed they were in contact with me, advised me of next steps, and shipped my bike out very quickly. When it arrived, it was packaged exceptionally well and completely flawless, and it was assembled about as far as it could be for shipping. About 30 minutes later I was riding. What really made them standout was the after-sale service. I'll admit I took a few tries to get my saddle height correct, partially due to the seat post slipping. In the process of readjusting, I ended up stripping the seat post wedge bolt. I emailed them back, and both Peter and Andrew responded, and had a replacement part as well as carbon paste dispatched to me almost immediately. This is despite them knowing that I'm out in CA and pretty much guaranteed not to have my bike serviced there. That level of customer support is almost unheard of now and a true testament to how devoted they are to the customer experience. Whether you are local to them or online, I can't recommend Contender Bicycles enough, and I can confidently say I will be buying all my bikes and cycling gear from them from now on.

Sure he's trying to be helpful but I've literally said how picky I am and have a certain vision only to be thrown some BMC bike that was wayyy too much and not the design I was interested in. The whole experience felt pushy and like I was gonna be pushed into a bike I didn't want which was the case! We arranged for them to have one brought to the store from storage and they were gonna call me. lo and behold they didn't call I wonder why? I didn't look the part?! Haha. I was ready with over 6k in cash if needed but I wanted to finance it. And was not entirely persuaded on the bike we chose it wasn't any shape or brand or anything I wanted. But I was still gonna buy it cause I wanted a bike to start some long distances. Oh well their loss my gain I picked up my dream bike CANYON CFR which fits everything I want and need with a lot more options. Sure I spent more than what I walked into contender with. But the judgment feelings and pressure felt on picking a bike with someone following me around the whole time was a relief to not experience again.

After going to a corporate e-bike store and a specialty E-bike store, I was directed to Guthrie Bicycle Shop on 2100 St. I walked into a modern, well-decorated shop on the 26th of December and was promptly greeted by Preston Jacobsen. He looked at the pictures on my phone and went on a hunt for a part he thought would fit (an older, out-of-production brake lever clamp). In the 15 minutes it took him to look in about ~20 parts drawers, he showed me around the workshop until we had a eureka moment at the bottom of one of the last drawers we checked. He had two, and gave me one, refused to take any money for it, and thanked me for sharing the story of my bike shop experiences back east and their long history in SLC. Only later, when I asked for a card, did I note that he was the owner. That type of service to a guy who will most likely not buy a bike from him (I live in Hawaii) is what makes independent bicycle shops like this a true gem in a world of chains and corporate clones. Long live Guthrie Bicycle Shop, the oldest bicycle shop in the land! Thanks, Preston! --JT

Hi, I recently…read morebrought in two bikes for your $90 tune-up and picked them up on 09/14/26. Unfortunately, I don't believe the work was completed as expected. Both bikes came back still dusty and clearly hadn't been wiped down, and I had to clean the frames myself. The chains also weren't lubricated. More importantly, my wife's bike is shifting worse than before. Front shifts from the small ring to the big ring were a little harsh before, and they're noticeably rougher now. Before the tune-up, it only had normal chain rub when cross-chaining at the extremes (small-small and big-big). Now it rubs in the big ring across the four largest rear cogs.

The owner and employees are good people and are committed to providing great service to customers. Back in March, while I was busy skiing as much as possible, I stopped by Go-Ride to check out mountain bikes. I figured I could get a great price on a last season's bike and a friend told me Go-Ride had the best selection of mountain bikes in town. I was not disappointed! Go-Ride specializes in mountain bikes and inventories most of the major brands, models, and sizes. Ryan helped me for nearly two hours, matching me to a great bike and taught me how to adjust the bike, and dial it in for my riding. I had a lot of questions about just about everything and he patiently answered everything and gave me killer advice. I LOVE the Pivot Mach 6 Carbon, I purchased, and Go-Ride sold it to me for a great price too. It's probably more bike then I needed as a beginner, but I've put about 200 miles on it so far this season, and I've LOVED it every mile. It fits me really well, is comfortable to ride, handles well, and jumps great. A few weeks ago while riding in Eagle Mountain my rear derailleur came off the bike because a bolt had gone missing. I should have been more conscientious about checking the bike before each ride, but as a new rider I'm still learning. Thankfully we were able to fix it on trail and got back to riding. Later that day I stopped by Go-Ride to have a bike tech take a look and make sure nothing else was wrong or broken. The tech did a thorough inspection, replacing the missing bolt, tightening everything, and making some other adjustments -- all free of charge. He got me back to riding the next day without any delays, which was awesome and very much appreciated! Last month I dropped my bike off for the new bike tune-up and they promised next day turnaround. Continuing their aim of delivering great service, my bike was actually finished later that same day! I picked it up, clean and shiny, and ready for more dirty mountain riding. If you're an experience rider or just starting out, Go-Ride is a great shop and well worth your time. Thanks for being awesome guys!
