I went in to Leonard's the last week of July to get a battery replacement on my mother's watch. My…read moremom passed away recently and her memorial service was the following week in southern IL. I wanted to wear the watch in her memory. I knew I wouldn't have much luck getting a replacement down south and I was in a hurry to get packed and on the road, so called Leonard's. They were closing in about 30 minutes, but I was a bit desperate and asked if I could stop by. The woman on the phone was so incredibly nice and said she could get me in despite having other customers at the time who were being serviced. She mentioned there is a battery shortage, but she'd see what they could do. I ran over and leave Chiluba they had the right battery. They got my moms watch done in maybe ten minutes. Both the women were so sweet, considerate and friendly. They were very attentive to the other customers and I could see that they truly care about their business. The one woman even showed me how to change the time and date on my moms watch and carefully instructed me so as not to break the turner. They both asked me about my trip (I didn't mention it was for my moms memorial), and about the area I was headed to and then wished me safe travels. I can't thank these two women enough. They have no idea how much it meant to me to be able to wear the watch and that their kindness put my distressed and saddened heart at ease even for a few minutes. Thanks ladies! You made my entire week better than you could ever know.

Every place I called (jewelry stores, trophy engravers, etc.) was unable to do the work. Diane was able to hand engrave the bank. She has a large amount of antique & varied engraving equipment. He didn't have to take it on, but he fit me in and got it done within an hour, which completely blew me away. The customer service was amazing -- kind, understanding, and you could tell he genuinely cared about helping me make the gift special. The engraving itself came out awesome! So grateful for the help. Terrible experience, take your business elsewhere…read more I arrived during business hours with the item to engrave and clear instructions. Discussed the project, agreed, and shook hands on a price ($60) to engrave the item. When I got home, I received a voice message stating owner forgot to include a $15 "set up fee". This was a red flag. I grew up that if you shake hands on an agreement, you honor it. This business owner was not raised that way. As I had already dropped off the item, I let it go. Two days later I received a call asking if I wanted metal plates mounted on the glass piece I requested engraved. I declined, and it seemed weird he would ask me that as we already outlined what I asked for. Received a call the following week the piece was ready for pickup. Upon inspection I immediately saw each engraving was visibly off center, anyone would notice this. I pointed it out to him and his response was "I will have to ask my employee about this, I did not even review it before you arrived" That is flat out lying or incompetence. I told him it was too late now as there was nothing that could be done to fix it (as it was engraved in glass, and the recipient declined the metal plate option). He said "let me get you a deal on this". He offered me a deal on his poor service, on a piece I brought in, that he ruined. I firmly refused, because at that moment I knew I was going to leave this review and I wanted nothing on my conscience. He asked me who the item was for and if they were a perfectionist?" The fact that a person who specializes in engraving, his SOLE JOB, asked me about whether or not the item recipient was a perfectionist after he provided visibly sub-par work is astonishing. It is clear to me now the metal plate option was a cover up for his blatantly obvious mistakes and that is not acceptable. He did not own up to the mistakes and should be embarrassed and ashamed as a business owner. After reading other reviews, it appears this is standard operating procedure for this individual. Save yourself the disappointment, frustration, and lies. Mistakes can be forgiven. Dishonesty, bad business practices, and poor ethics cannot.

Some time ago we brought our $10,000 + Piaget watch to Timothy Grant Jewelry in Lake Zurich, IL for…read morea simple battery replacement. Although we did not know it at the time, the person who helped us broke two of the four screws that hold the back of the watch on. The person then handed us a small plastic bag containing the parts that used to be the watch. She said we would have to send the watch somewhere to be fixed. We then wrote a review of the incident on Yelp. A representative of Timothy Grant Jewelry called and asked us to bring back the bag of watch parts for repair. We came back with the bag and Timothy Grant Jewelry "repaired" the watch and asked us to take down the Yelp review, which we did. We paid for the new battery and left the establishment. This month the watch needed a new battery. We took the watch to a reputable jeweler. When he opened the watch to replace the battery, he told us that 2 of the 4 screws that hold the back to the watch are broken and the heads of the screws were glued in to present the appearance that the watch is whole. We then attempted to communicate with Timothy Grant Jewelry to resolve our issue. There has to date been no response from Timothy Grant Jewelry. We have had three negative experiences, first he broke the screws that held our watch together and handed us a bag of parts that used to be our watch, second he claimed he fixed the watch but fooled us with a fake repair by gluing the heads of screws to the watch, third he would to respond to us in any way to resolve the issue.

To be specific I asked that they design a ring from some lose stones I was not currently using. I contacted their design team and I was treated with a prompt response, meet with the master jeweler and came up with a design that was unique to my stones and style. Suzanne spearheaded the project directly and communicated with me on all the steps during the way. The process took a while but I was not in any hurry since I understood the detail going into the ring. I received the ring today and this ring is the most beautiful ring I have ever seen. I cannot express how impressed I am with the level of customer service, detail in the design and the quality of the product.
