This was my first encounter and I was completely apologetic for his actions (my boyfriends) and the therapist's. I looked past that and continued to work with him and bring him business by means of family. Extended family wanted to see him until the remaining qualities unfolded.... I booked a massage for 2 weeks in advance for my mom and me. He was texting me between 2 numbers so it somehow got lost in translation. He confirmed for the upcoming week and I explained I was talking about the following. I live 2 hrs away but was willing to make the commute to not throw off his work schedule. He took it upon himself to cancel my massage, without telling me (both of them I guess since I was willing to drive up for the confusion). He told that he suddenly only had one slot this particular day he thought we were booking. He canceled my appointments, but called my mom to confirm that he would be there for 7pm that evening. He never showed up. Never called. Never texted. I found out through our chiropractor who sees us in 2 different cities. After she waited for 20 mins after the appointment start time, she noticed a cancellation email. Again--without any sort of professional obligation, communication, or courtesy to inform. He had sent me some nasty text messages that I tried to respond diplomatically to. He told me, "Yes I canceled your appointment and I have the right to refuse service to anyone whom I wish not to, am un-able to, am uncomfortable with, etc " The whole thing was drama he brought upon himself. This could have very simply been avoided if he had picked up the phone to communicate, or answered my message about me coming down there the day he wanted me to. I recommended him before but after this, we are deeply disappointed that someone we welcomed into our home like family, gave plenty of business to, could treat loyal customers this way. It's unethical to be so impolite, defensive, unkind when a customer is trying to accommodate a schedule change/situation. I understand he runs a business but this was purely an emotional move as evidenced by his messages and inappropriate reaction. I would not get too close or personal. Unless you want something like a small miscommunication to happen and the result affects two people for two weeks.
