The main building was empty except for a couple of employees selling tickets. I thought it could definitely use a refresh but we were not there for the lodge. We rode up 2 lifts to reach the top of Whitefish Mountain. There are two peaks you can take lifts up and we went to the higher peak for one if the longer hikes. Both lifts were easy to get on, getting off was a little sketchy as we had to quickly jump off and move several steps forward to avoid being hit by the lift. Thank goodness for the lift operator assisting people off the lift! I'm sure it's much easier to exit when skiing. The ride up was great. Such beautiful views! There is a small bar/restaurant at the top with amazing patio views and a restroom. We hiked down the Danny On Trail From the top. There are plenty of trail Markers so you cannot get lost. We did see a sign warning us of bear activity while hiking but we never actually saw any animal activity, not even a deer. A majority of the trail had beautiful views of Whitefish Lake. The lower part of the hiking trail was covered with dozens of people picking huckleberries so you just had to navigate around those groups. The hike took approximately 3 hours to reach the Alpine Slide area. You could ride the slide down or jump on the ski lift to go down. Whichever you purchased tickets to do. There are is also a separate trail for mountain bikers but we didn't cross those trails until closer to the Alpine slide area. We purchased tickets for the Alpine Slide so we jumped in line which went quickly. There are two slides to choose from. One slide is "fast" and the other is slower and more scenic. We chose the scenic as it was our first time on the slide. You can also choose the speed as you navigate down the slide. The slide drops you right off at the bottom of the resort so you can walk directly to the parking lot. I would definitely recommend the hiking and Alpine slide. It was very scenic and a wonderful experience.

After flying into…read moreBozeman and making the 5-hour drive to Whitefish, we arrived later than expected--but the self-check-in instructions were clear, detailed, and easy to follow. Shayla, our host, texted us ahead of time to make sure we were all set for a smooth check-in. That small gesture alone made us feel genuinely cared for. Each day, Shayla prepared the most delicious homemade baked goods, which made us feel like we were at a home away from home. Since we planned to head to Glacier National Park early each day, she kindly packed to-go breakfasts for us--always thoughtful, fresh, and satisfying. On the mornings we stayed in, she served beautiful homemade breakfasts that were just as delicious. The extra touches throughout the lodge made our stay even more special--the self-serve charcuterie, fresh fruit, and beverages were such a nice bonus. The lodge itself was peaceful and quiet, which we really appreciated. We stayed for five nights and can confidently say this was one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. Thank you, Good Medicine Lodge, for such a memorable experience!

As we stepped through the front door, we were greeted by a garden full of blooming peonies--such a lovely and welcoming touch. The house was immaculate, and everything was clearly labeled with helpful instructions. Whether you were heading out for a day in Glacier National Park or relaxing at the lodge, anything you could need was available--maps, bear spray, sunscreen, coolers, even wine and snacks for the trail. There were also cool drinks, water, and freshly baked goods waiting for us each evening--such thoughtful hospitality. Our bedroom was not the largest room in the lodge, but very comfortable. After long hikes in the park, we looked forward to soaking in the hot tub each evening. The backyard had BBQs, lawn games, and picnic tables--it would be a perfect place for a family reunion or even a small wedding. Kayla, our hostess, couldn't have been more helpful. She was warm, engaging, and full of great suggestions for exploring Glacier. She and her coworker Meghan prepared the most delicious breakfasts each morning--beautifully presented and thoughtfully tailored to our dietary needs. This place is truly a treasure. The owners are lucky to have Kayla and Meghan running the lodge with such heart and care. If you're visiting Whitefish, I highly recommend staying at Good Medicine Lodge.

The first day, I went with my family of 17 people on the scenic route. Half of us went on TK's raft while the rest of us went on Carly's raft. I was with Carly who was an amazing guide. She was so nice and sweet. Very knowledgeable of our surroundings such as the landscape and very few wildlife we came across. I loved it so much, I went on the Rapids rafting the next day with just my boyfriend and I. Our guide was Niels. He was amazing as well! He knew a lot about not just the GNP, but of Montana itself. If you're looking for more of a fun experience, I suggest the whitewater rapids rafting! That was so much fun. I wish it was longer and had more intense rapids lol

We had a previous guide on the raft with our group and a grandmother with her granddaughter. The granddaughter was the only one of us that jumped into the ice cold water during a calm section of the tour. The water is very cold. They provided wetsuits, fleeces and a wind breaker. Minnow was friendly and had a steady dialogue about the area: River, wildlife, plants, history, and more. She steered the raft and directed us when we needed to paddle. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. We were in a raft with a great group of people. I highly recommend the white water tour. They also offer a lazy river tour if you don't want to get wet and just want to enjoy the scenery.

The level of thought that they've put into making their guests feel comfortable is exceptional. They provide everything from bear spray to hiking guide books to laundry service. The skin care products and candles provided in the room are all organic and of the highest quality and make the place smell divine. Linda called before my arrival date to learn about my dietary preferences. She surprises guests with different types of baked goods every day, which sweetens the experience of staying here both literally and figuratively. The room is very private with a separate entrance. Decorations are detailed, unique, and western, and the ambiance reminded me of my childhood, which was very heartwarming. Lastly, there are two riding horses on the property, and they are playful, gentle and totally enhance the experience. This vacation spot provides the ultimate experience of nature and tranquility. I can not say enough positive things about our experience at The Old Wagon Wheel to bring it justice. The bed is wonderful, everything you need is included and Linda makes sure you have a clean cabin to come home to each night. The service is unbelievable. They truly treat you like family. It's a bit of a drive from the town of Whitefish, but it's the perfect distance. It's also located very close to beautiful lakes and hiking trails. (If you are a single parent with any kids or even a cat she will automatically put you last on the list of her "preferred renters". Seeing how she only took a course on property management for her job, it seems ironic that she judges people who have a higher educational background and more respectable position but make less money. They charge a non refundable application fee ($40! Just to apply) and they won't schedule you to see a property until they have their priority tenants look first, then once you do get an appointment to see a property they claim it's already been rented- even if you were the first to apply, bc if they don't consider you priority you are the last to show, and they won't allow renting anything sight unseen. Even if you have a respectable employment, they don't respect you unless they think you have a lot of money. Most of the properties they manage are "seasonal", meaning they kick out locals for summer to up-charge for tourists. They are greedy and a huge part of the disproportionate housing problem in whitefish. I would not give them another penny, regardless of their inventory. Home owners/investors should rent out themselves or quit buying homes they don't intend to live in and making the locals fit the bill for the mortgages on their "investment" properties, when there are normal people here year round just trying to live.
