The room was fantastic and very stylish. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was at the perfect temperature when we arrived. I loved walking just a few feet to grab a coffee first thing in the morning. Then there was the food. The pizza was , the crust was yummy. The servers were friendly too. Reading the reviews, I feel like we are in the minority as we had a great lunch there. Things I did no agree were not that great- I agree with the feeling of being put out by the service at the front. It is hard to find anyone and it feels like you are an annoyance . We were hoping to have dinner around 8 PM at night and were told that there was nothing available. The patio was clear on a not rainy day (we ended up having lunch literally while it rained the next day and sat there). Restaurant was empty so another restaurant for our money. The patio is great and a huge selling point. The restaurant is a bit tight. With great food I recommit urge better service We did do lunch the next day, and I will say our food was great. read more

We just left here after spending the week at Elkhorn resort. Lakehouse was the only place open in town so we went for dinner. I had checked the reviews prior to going, but we decided to try it anyway as I realize most people will complain just about anything and I'm sure glad I did. We did not use the hotel - but we were addressed immediately at the coffee shop when we came in. The staff member was so friendly and accommodating at the front desk and booked our resos for dinner. We came back to eat an hour later and they got us in early. Beautiful trendy little place. Nice music and lighting. Our server was fantastic - very friendly and constantly checked on us. Fantastic food and drinks. Very accommodating for our young toddlers as well. Will definitely go back and don't always trust bad reviews - people complain too much! read more

As soon as we arrived we waited in the sun for 5 minutes. The waiter asked to wait outside ? The service is selected upon arrival and difference. We had to wait 20 minutes to be able to ask some water while a group of local residents came in and got served right away. And we did not get served for 25 minutes. A little resort hotel with the best coffee shop in the park. If you're looking for a good cup of joe, stop here or pick up your Dogwood Coffee beans to take back to your site/cabin. It's very clean and the lounge is trendy and comfortable but only for hotel guests. Our rating is only for the restaurant portion where you can get ice cream, smoothies coffees and more. Service was not great, servers seemed overwhelmed yet it was a Monday and not super busy. Sat us in the drink section and did not acknowledge us after telling us to sit. We spoke to the host twice and still not had been asked for our drink orders, 4 others came in after us and got taken care of immediately and even offered them waters while we didn't get anything. 20 mins go by we ask for the table we were waiting for and we're informed they were clearing it off and 2 additional families came in and got seated immediately. Left and again no acknowledgment whatsoever. Overhyped and overpriced. read more

Excellent location, great frontage and inside lounge, ice cream parlour .... then there is the room we booked. This is not a boutique hotel as described on the website. Our room needs to be upgraded a lot, bedroom was cute however the fridge/cooktop was outdated. Basic room maintenance needs to be done. Loose toilet seat (I tightened myself), door sweep needs replaced, new carpeting, shower head etc. Don't get me wrong it's an excellent location in a National Park ... lots of demand with lack of supply equals overly inflated prices throughout the park for people not camping. read more

Amazing ! Spending a weekend Oct 17th 2020 From the contactless checkin, to the distancing in the restaurant/ coffeehouse was great. You were supposed to hit the doorbell and wait to enter the lobby. Our room is super cozy, rustic barn board, heated bathroom floor, nice touches. The lobby restaurant is gorgeous with live edge tables and fireplace. Really nice. The food offered is locally sourced and simple. The cocktail list is outstanding and only local craft beers offered . The prices are very reasonable as well. Staff are great here. Just a shame some people (public) just aren't getting the the whole COVID thing. But the staff are keeping the idiots at bay. Good job ! Looking forward to our hot tub booking. So the rooms have been renovated in 2019. Very nice , the site looks well maintained ! We had dinner, and the burger, fig & goat cheese flat bread were a surprise I have to say. So good, Better than many meals we have had in Winnipeg! Shame on all of you Winnipeg restaurants! Waiting to find that kind if care in execution! read more

Came by yesterday for a latte on the patio - was made to feel like an inconvenience or intrusion. Latte wasn't bad actually. Went back today and waited 10-15 minutes in line - when the server was asked by a host "are speciality coffees available?", she barked "If I have time" and rushed back inside. Drove up to Wasagaming on a chilly but beautiful sunny day. We weren't too sure if anything would be open for the Winter season and were VERY pleasantly surprised to find Lakehouse was. It obviously wasn't a buzzing hot spot on a wintery Thursday afternoon. But give this place a few months and some warmer weather and I think it'll get super busy. It's a 3-in-1 business. 1) Boutique Hotel. I can't review the hotel in detail, as we didn't stay overnight or see the rooms. But i can say that there was a very inviting outdoor hot tub in the back that was calling my name. 2) Ice cream and coffee shop. There will be line ups here in the summer. They had ice cream, floats, shakes, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches all made fresh. They even had cinnamon bun ice cream sandwiches. I'll be back to try one of those for sure. My Dad and hubby both had coffee and cookies and everything was delicious. The woman at the counter told us the ice cream section of the store is open from 9-5 (that may just be winter hours, I'm not sure) 3) the Lounge. Make a left turn when you come in the front door and you'll find yourself in a cozy and stylish cottage lounge. They serve cocktails and wine over there in the evenings from 3-10pm. If you're up at Clear Lake you must stop in to Lakehouse. Beautiful decor, clean, stylish. Loved it. read more

My significant other and I stayed at Lakehouse for 2 nights this past weekend for a wedding. With a price tag of $400, I have to say we were less than impressed, for many reasons: 1. Nothing that you normally find in a hotel room was there. No phone, alarm clock, pen, paper, etc. 2. There was nothing in the mini fridge, no water, and no vending machine anywhere on site to purchase a bottle of water or other beverage if you wanted one. The fridge also did not keep things cool at all. 3. Our room had a small kitchenette and we were advised that we were expected to wash the dishes we used. After paying so much money, I do not believe guests should be required to do dishes during their stay. 4. They advertise a continental breakfast, but it merely consists of a very small coffee and a dry muffin or toast. That is it. 5. There was a small window air conditioner right beside the stove. It did not cool our room whatsoever. In mid-late June, this made sleeping exceptionally uncomfortable. 6. There was a fair sized gap in between our hotel room door and the door frame, allowing a large amount of mosquitos and other small insects to come in our room. 7. At the wedding reception, it was open bar, so you could get as much alcohol as you wanted, however, when I asked for a glass of pop (coke or Pepsi), I was advised by the hotel-provided bartenders that I would have to pay if I wanted a non-alcoholic drink. 8. The worst of all of them...we arrived home after a wonderful weekend, to an email from a Lakehouse staff member stating they were charging us an additional $200 because the housekeeper said our room was "clearly smoked in". This is nothing short of impossible as I do not smoke and my significant other is very respectful and only smokes outdoors. We are both very respectful adults and to be accused of such a thing is downright horrifying and insulting to both of us. The positives were that the wedding was beautiful and the ice cream at the ice cream shop is great. However, for all these reasons, I do not believe we will ever be staying at Lakehouse again when we return to Riding Mountain. read more

I think you need to give the service folks some slack. They are drastically understaffed, as are many other places. This season is almost over and I think you'll find more servers working in time. We've always found the service good. We've been there many times. The food is fantastic and well worth another try. read more

My wife and I were camping in the area and decided to grab a bite at the lounge at The Lakehouse. The beer selection was great, the fries were excellent and so was the service. I left without my sweater and journal but fortunately one of the servers (Sydney?) noticed and set it in the office. My email address was inside and I got a message saying it was there. You can't replace things like a journal so I'm very thankful! Great staff! read more
