I am an athlete and I compete on an amateur team. I train hard and my body takes a lot of abuse. I found out about Lakefront Chiropractic from a coworker and I am so happy that she told me about them. Dr. Ethen looks at each person as an individual and develops a treatment plan that is specific to their needs. My coworker and I have discussed what kind of adjustments and therapy we get there, and they are very different because our issues are different. Many of the chiropractors I had gone to before seemed to have a "routine" that they did on everyone no matter what their physical state is. I've been seeing Dr. Ethen for over a year for regular treatments of some chronic issues and he has been a big help with those. Earlier this year, I had an injury to my knee during a practice. After visiting my general doctor and being sent to Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, I was still having issues and it dawned on me that Dr. Ethen knows a lot about sports injuries and provides physical therapy, so I went to see him about my knee. He was able to take me through the healing process and physical therapy that was sports specific. It is several months later and my sprained MCL is healed and I'm back to 100%! My on-line research indicated that rib subluxation was not a real thing but my symptoms persisted for 5 weeks so I made an appointment for an adjustment. I was not surprised when Dr. Ethan told me that the long time between the injury and treatment made it harder to treat, as my body probably wrapped the injury with some scar tissue. Nevertheless, on the second treatment I actually felt my rib slip back into position. I can now take a deep breath and perform other movements that were previously painful. I started going to Lakefront in Glencoe about 3 months ago for lower back pain, neck pain as well as a pinched nerve in my neck. At my first visit Dr. Ethen took x-rays and patiently explained to me what was going on. I started with seeing him 2 x week and seeing Eric the massage therapist 1 x week. Not a week goes by that I don't go here. It is my happy place! Every single time I go, I walk out feeling taller, healthier and happier! I go here for Massage Therapy, Chiropractic Adjustments and Acupuncture. My massage therapy is with Eric. He is fantastic! Knows the anatomy extremely well, so always knows exactly where and how much pressure to apply to whatever area is causing you trouble. He's also incredibly nice and fun to chat with (only if you want to) during your session. Of course, then there is Dr. Ethen..... possibly one of the most knowledgeable and insightful professionals I have met. I have been going to see Dr. Ethen at least once per week for about 3 years now. He has helped immensely with my back pain, hip pain and really, overall well-being. He is also extremely honest! He'll tell you exactly what you need to do to get better and improve upon yourself. Dr. Ethen is also a certified doctor of acupuncture. I have GAD and often have (had?) panic attacks associated with that. Ever since I have been regularly getting acupuncture treatments from Dr. Ethen I have felt calmer, more at ease and generally more relaxed. I was new to chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture and out of curiosity (with Groupon in hand) I made an appointment at Lakefront Chiropractic Center. I was skeptical that my symptoms (sleeplessness, on-going colds/sinus infections, and limited movement in one of my shoulders) could all be potentially treated. To my amazement, the treatments I have received resulted in sleeping through the night, more quickly ridding my system of a recent cold, AND achieving more movement in my shoulder. Of course I am thrilled with all the above outcomes and equally happy to share that Dr. Ethen and the office staff could not be more professional or pleasant. Two years ago I injured my back. After 48 hours of no improvement my friend recommended Dr. Ethen. I was skeptical to say the least (and quite frankly scared). All I knew of chiropractors was that they cracked your back - which freaked me out. My very first visit, Dr. Ethen took an x-ray of my back and discovered a subluxated rib. I didn't even know ribs did that. He adjusted me and I won't lie - it wasn't pleasant, but w/in 24 hours I finally started to feel relief! I went in for a few additional adjustments and felt like a new woman. Fast forward 2 years and I did it again. I called Dr. Ethen who fit me in immediately and began treating me. He also suggested a number of exercises to do in order to strengthen my back. Dr. Ethan has years of experience in chiropractic, sports, and physical therapy. I like his approach because he not only gives you chiropractic adjustments, but also exercises to strengthen problem areas. I have been to many chiropractors over the years and have found Dr. Ethan to have a nice balance between fixing current problems but also offering preventive maintenance.
