I really wanted to give this place a great review. We booked the large cabin for our family of six. When we arrived, we found it very charming. This cabin has everything you would need to enjoy a lengthy vacation. A full kitchen, full bathroom, comfortable beds, and plenty of room to relax and enjoy the cabin, when you aren't outside enjoying the beach and lake.
Along with us, two of our friends and their families also booked cabins for the same time. The other cabins are smaller and so without the perks of a full bathroom, and full kitchen, but still nice enough to serve the purpose of enjoying a lakeside, beach vacation.
We all noticed immediately that the cabins were in need of much work. Floors are slanted, doors are swollen and unable to close, furniture is old and so it was quite worn in. After a few days we also noticed that there were a few times that the water stopped working. Although the owner was quick to remedy that situation. To be honest, we didn't even mention, let alone complain, of the other problems with the building as we just chalked it up to wear on the buildings over time, as well as the major storms they had that probably caused some damage over the last year. Again, we were all there to enjoy the beach, we felt no need to complain.
My low review comes from what happened after we left.
After following all requested procedures listed in the building for check out (except for I accidentally left the coffee machine on! OOPS!!), we were called by the owner, Rick, the next day but had missed his call. After some phone tag trying to reach Rick, my husband did eventually speak to him. What was said was completely mind blowing! Rick took an aggressive attitude with my husband, blaming broken door jams and broken furniture on us!!!! We did NO SUCH THING! We left that building exactly as it was when we arrived. As mentioned before, the doors were swollen from humidity, which you could feel thick in the air, when we got there. The doors would not shut...so we did not shut them. The furniture was old, there was one chair that you sank in when you sat down...so we did not sit in that chair. He mentioned that when changing the sheets of one of the beds that it felt damp so "we must have a pisser in the family"... first, no one wet the bed. Second, even if someone had, a professional business owner shouldn't go around calling their guests a "pisser".
Needless to say, the conversation between my husband and Rick became heated. And we went from wanting to return and even recommend this place to people, to never wanting anyone we care about to have to deal with these people. Completely uncalled for, unprofessional, and overall terrible customer relations.
I would not recommend giving Rick your business. read more
